۞ وَلَكُمْ And for you walakum (is) half niṣ'fu (of) what mā (is) left taraka by your wives azwājukum if in not lam is yakun for them lahunna a child waladun But if fa-in is kāna for them lahunna a child waladun then for you falakumu (is) the fourth l-rubuʿu of what mimmā they left tarakna from min after baʿdi any will waṣiyyatin they have made yūṣīna [for which] bihā or aw any debt daynin And for them walahunna (is) the fourth l-rubuʿu of what mimmā you left taraktum if in not lam is yakun for you lakum a child waladun But if fa-in is kāna for you lakum a child waladun then for them falahunna (is) the eighth l-thumunu of what mimmā you left taraktum from min after baʿdi any will waṣiyyatin you have made tūṣūna [for which] bihā or aw any debt daynin And if wa-in [is] kāna a man rajulun (whose wealth) is to be inherited yūrathu (has) no parent or child kalālatan or awi a women im'ra-atun and for him walahu (is) a brother akhun or aw a sister ukh'tun then for each falikulli one wāḥidin of (the) two min'humā (is) the sixth l-sudusu But if fa-in they are kānū more akthara than min that dhālika then they fahum (are) partners shurakāu in fī the third l-thuluthi from min after baʿdi any will waṣiyyatin was made yūṣā [for which] bihā or aw any debt daynin without ghayra (being) harmful muḍārrin An ordinance waṣiyyatan from mina Allah l-lahi And Allah wal-lahu (is) All-Knowing ʿalīmun All-Forbearing ḥalīmun
And for you is half of what your wives leave if they have no child. But if they have a child, for you is one fourth of what they leave, after any bequest they [may have] made or debt. And for them [i.e., the wives] is one fourth if you leave no child. But if you leave a child, then for them is an eighth of what you leave, after any bequest you [may have] made or debt. And if a man or woman leaves neither ascendants nor descendants but has a brother or a sister, then for each one of them is a sixth. But if they are more than two, they share a third,1 after any bequest which was made or debt, as long as there is no detriment [caused].2 [This is] an ordinance from Allāh, and Allāh is Knowing and Forbearing.
تِلْكَ These til'ka (are the) limits ḥudūdu (of) Allah l-lahi and whoever waman obeys yuṭiʿi Allah l-laha and His Messenger warasūlahu He will admit him yud'khil'hu (to) Gardens jannātin flows tajrī from min underneath them taḥtihā the rivers l-anhāru (will) abide forever khālidīna in it fīhā And that wadhālika (is) the success l-fawzu [the] great l-ʿaẓīmu
These are the limits [set by] Allāh, and whoever obeys Allāh and His Messenger will be admitted by Him to gardens [in Paradise] under which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein; and that is the great attainment.
وَمَن And whoever waman disobeys yaʿṣi Allah l-laha and His Messenger warasūlahu and transgresses wayataʿadda His limits ḥudūdahu He will admit him yud'khil'hu (to) Fire nāran (will) abide forever khālidan in it fīhā And for him walahu (is) a punishment ʿadhābun humiliating muhīnun
And whoever disobeys Allāh and His Messenger and transgresses His limits - He will put him into the Fire to abide eternally therein, and he will have a humiliating punishment.
