Ḥā, Meem.

— Saheeh International

عٓسٓقٓ

Ayn Seen Qaaf

ain-seen-qaf

٢

ʿAyn, Seen, Qāf.1

— Saheeh International

كَذَٰلِكَ

Thus

kadhālika

يُوحِىٓ

reveals

yūḥī

إِلَيْكَ

to you

ilayka

وَإِلَى

and to

wa-ilā

ٱلَّذِينَ

those

alladhīna

مِن

before you

min

قَبْلِكَ

before you

qablika

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

ٱلْعَزِيزُ

the All-Mighty

l-ʿazīzu

ٱلْحَكِيمُ

the All-Wise

l-ḥakīmu

٣

Thus has He revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], and to those before you - Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

— Saheeh International

لَهُۥ

To Him

lahu

مَا

(belong) whatever

فِى

(is) in

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَمَا

and whatever

wamā

فِى

(is) in

ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ

the earth

l-arḍi

وَهُوَ

and He

wahuwa

ٱلْعَلِىُّ

(is) the Most High

l-ʿaliyu

ٱلْعَظِيمُ

the Most Great

l-ʿaẓīmu

٤

To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and He is the Most High, the Most Great.1

— Saheeh International

تَكَادُ

Almost

takādu

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ

the heavens

l-samāwātu

يَتَفَطَّرْنَ

break up

yatafaṭṭarna

مِن

from

min

فَوْقِهِنَّ ۚ

above them

fawqihinna

وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ

and the Angels

wal-malāikatu

يُسَبِّحُونَ

glorify

yusabbiḥūna

بِحَمْدِ

(the) praise

biḥamdi

رَبِّهِمْ

(of) their Lord

rabbihim

وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ

and ask for forgiveness

wayastaghfirūna

لِمَن

for those

liman

فِى

on

ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ

the earth

l-arḍi

أَلَآ

Unquestionably

alā

إِنَّ

indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

هُوَ

He

huwa

ٱلْغَفُورُ

(is) the Oft-Forgiving

l-ghafūru

ٱلرَّحِيمُ

the Most Merciful

l-raḥīmu

٥

The heavens almost break from above them,1 and the angels exalt [Allāh] with praise of their Lord and ask forgiveness for those on earth. Unquestionably, it is Allāh who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ

And those who

wa-alladhīna

ٱتَّخَذُوا۟

take

ittakhadhū

مِن

besides

min

دُونِهِۦٓ

besides

dūnihi

أَوْلِيَآءَ

protectors

awliyāa

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

حَفِيظٌ

(is) a Guardian

ḥafīẓun

عَلَيْهِمْ

over them

ʿalayhim

وَمَآ

and not

wamā

أَنتَ

you

anta

عَلَيْهِم

(are) over them

ʿalayhim

بِوَكِيلٍۢ

a manager

biwakīlin

٦

And those who take as allies other than Him - Allāh is [yet] Guardian over them; and you, [O Muḥammad], are not over them a manager.

— Saheeh International

وَكَذَٰلِكَ

And thus

wakadhālika

أَوْحَيْنَآ

We have revealed

awḥaynā

إِلَيْكَ

to you

ilayka

قُرْءَانًا

a Quran

qur'ānan

عَرَبِيًّۭا

(in) Arabic

ʿarabiyyan

لِّتُنذِرَ

that you may warn

litundhira

أُمَّ

(the) mother

umma

ٱلْقُرَىٰ

(of) the towns

l-qurā

وَمَنْ

and whoever

waman

حَوْلَهَا

(is) around it

ḥawlahā

وَتُنذِرَ

and warn

watundhira

يَوْمَ

(of the) Day

yawma

ٱلْجَمْعِ

(of) Assembly

l-jamʿi

لَا

(there is) no

رَيْبَ

doubt

rayba

فِيهِ ۚ

in it

fīhi

فَرِيقٌۭ

A party

farīqun

فِى

(will be) in

ٱلْجَنَّةِ

Paradise

l-janati

وَفَرِيقٌۭ

and a party

wafarīqun

فِى

in

ٱلسَّعِيرِ

the Blazing Fire

l-saʿīri

٧

And thus We have revealed to you an Arabic Qur’ān that you may warn the Mother of Cities [i.e., Makkah] and those around it1 and warn of the Day of Assembly, about which there is no doubt. A party will be in Paradise and a party in the Blaze.

— Saheeh International

وَلَوْ

And if

walaw

شَآءَ

Allah willed

shāa

ٱللَّهُ

Allah willed

l-lahu

لَجَعَلَهُمْ

He could have made them

lajaʿalahum

أُمَّةًۭ

a community

ummatan

وَٰحِدَةًۭ

one

wāḥidatan

وَلَـٰكِن

but

walākin

يُدْخِلُ

He admits

yud'khilu

مَن

whom

man

يَشَآءُ

He wills

yashāu

فِى

in (to)

رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ

His Mercy

raḥmatihi

وَٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ

And the wrongdoers

wal-ẓālimūna

مَا

not

لَهُم

for them

lahum

مِّن

any

min

وَلِىٍّۢ

protector

waliyyin

وَلَا

and not

walā

نَصِيرٍ

any helper

naṣīrin

٨

And if Allāh willed, He could have made them [of] one religion, but He admits whom He wills1 into His mercy. And the wrongdoers have not any protector or helper.

— Saheeh International

أَمِ

Or

ami

ٱتَّخَذُوا۟

have they taken

ittakhadhū

مِن

besides Him

min

دُونِهِۦٓ

besides Him

dūnihi

أَوْلِيَآءَ ۖ

protectors

awliyāa

فَٱللَّهُ

But Allah

fal-lahu

هُوَ

He

huwa

ٱلْوَلِىُّ

(is) the Protector

l-waliyu

وَهُوَ

and He

wahuwa

يُحْىِ

gives life

yuḥ'yī

ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ

(to) the dead

l-mawtā

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

عَلَىٰ

(is) on

ʿalā

كُلِّ

every

kulli

شَىْءٍۢ

thing

shayin

قَدِيرٌۭ

All-Powerful

qadīrun

٩

Or have they taken protectors [or allies] besides Him? But Allāh - He is the Protector, and He gives life to the dead, and He is over all things competent.

— Saheeh International

وَمَا

And whatever

wamā

ٱخْتَلَفْتُمْ

you differ

ikh'talaftum

فِيهِ

in it

fīhi

مِن

of

min

شَىْءٍۢ

a thing

shayin

فَحُكْمُهُۥٓ

then its ruling

faḥuk'muhu

إِلَى

(is) to

ilā

ٱللَّهِ ۚ

Allah

l-lahi

ذَٰلِكُمُ

That

dhālikumu

ٱللَّهُ

(is) Allah

l-lahu

رَبِّى

my Lord

rabbī

عَلَيْهِ

upon Him

ʿalayhi

تَوَكَّلْتُ

I put my trust

tawakkaltu

وَإِلَيْهِ

and to Him

wa-ilayhi

أُنِيبُ

I turn

unību

١٠

And in anything over which you disagree - its ruling is [to be referred] to Allāh. [Say], "That is Allāh, my Lord; upon Him I have relied, and to Him I turn back."1

— Saheeh International

فَاطِرُ

(The) Creator

fāṭiru

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

(of) the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ

and the earth

wal-arḍi

جَعَلَ

He made

jaʿala

لَكُم

for you

lakum

مِّنْ

from

min

أَنفُسِكُمْ

yourselves

anfusikum

أَزْوَٰجًۭا

mates

azwājan

وَمِنَ

and among

wamina

ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ

the cattle

l-anʿāmi

أَزْوَٰجًۭا ۖ

mates

azwājan

يَذْرَؤُكُمْ

He multiplies you

yadhra-ukum

فِيهِ ۚ

thereby

fīhi

لَيْسَ

(There) is not

laysa

كَمِثْلِهِۦ

like Him

kamith'lihi

شَىْءٌۭ ۖ

anything

shayon

وَهُوَ

and He

wahuwa

ٱلسَّمِيعُ

(is) the All-Hearer

l-samīʿu

ٱلْبَصِيرُ

the All-Seer

l-baṣīru

١١

[He is] Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you from yourselves, mates, and among the cattle, mates; He multiplies you thereby. There is nothing like unto Him,1 and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.2

— Saheeh International

لَهُۥ

To Him (belongs)

lahu

مَقَالِيدُ

(the) keys

maqālīdu

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

(of) the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ

and the earth

wal-arḍi

يَبْسُطُ

He extends

yabsuṭu

ٱلرِّزْقَ

the provision

l-riz'qa

لِمَن

for whom

liman

يَشَآءُ

He wills

yashāu

وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ

and restricts

wayaqdiru

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, He

innahu

بِكُلِّ

of every

bikulli

شَىْءٍ

thing

shayin

عَلِيمٌۭ

(is) All-Knower

ʿalīmun

١٢

To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. He extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. Indeed He is, of all things, Knowing.

— Saheeh International

۞ شَرَعَ

He has ordained

sharaʿa

لَكُم

for you

lakum

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلدِّينِ

the religion

l-dīni

مَا

what

وَصَّىٰ

He enjoined

waṣṣā

بِهِۦ

upon

bihi

نُوحًۭا

Nuh

nūḥan

وَٱلَّذِىٓ

and that which

wa-alladhī

أَوْحَيْنَآ

We have revealed

awḥaynā

إِلَيْكَ

to you

ilayka

وَمَا

and what

wamā

وَصَّيْنَا

We enjoined

waṣṣaynā

بِهِۦٓ

upon

bihi

إِبْرَٰهِيمَ

Ibrahim

ib'rāhīma

وَمُوسَىٰ

and Musa

wamūsā

وَعِيسَىٰٓ ۖ

and Isa

waʿīsā

أَنْ

To

an

أَقِيمُوا۟

establish

aqīmū

ٱلدِّينَ

the religion

l-dīna

وَلَا

and not

walā

تَتَفَرَّقُوا۟

be divided

tatafarraqū

فِيهِ ۚ

therein

fīhi

كَبُرَ

Is difficult

kabura

عَلَى

on

ʿalā

ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ

the polytheists

l-mush'rikīna

مَا

what

تَدْعُوهُمْ

you call them

tadʿūhum

إِلَيْهِ ۚ

to it

ilayhi

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

يَجْتَبِىٓ

chooses

yajtabī

إِلَيْهِ

for Himself

ilayhi

مَن

whom

man

يَشَآءُ

He wills

yashāu

وَيَهْدِىٓ

and guides

wayahdī

إِلَيْهِ

to Himself

ilayhi

مَن

whoever

man

يُنِيبُ

turns

yunību

١٣

He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus - to establish the religion and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with Allāh is that to which you invite them. Allāh chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him].

— Saheeh International

وَمَا

And not

wamā

تَفَرَّقُوٓا۟

they became divided

tafarraqū

إِلَّا

until

illā

مِنۢ

after

min

بَعْدِ

after

baʿdi

مَا

[what]

جَآءَهُمُ

came to them

jāahumu

ٱلْعِلْمُ

the knowledge

l-ʿil'mu

بَغْيًۢا

(out of) rivalry

baghyan

بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ

among them

baynahum

وَلَوْلَا

And if not

walawlā

كَلِمَةٌۭ

(for) a word

kalimatun

سَبَقَتْ

(that) preceded

sabaqat

مِن

from

min

رَّبِّكَ

your Lord

rabbika

إِلَىٰٓ

for

ilā

أَجَلٍۢ

a term

ajalin

مُّسَمًّۭى

specified

musamman

لَّقُضِىَ

surely, it (would have) been settled

laquḍiya

بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ

between them

baynahum

وَإِنَّ

And indeed

wa-inna

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

أُورِثُوا۟

were made to inherit

ūrithū

ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ

the Book

l-kitāba

مِنۢ

after them

min

بَعْدِهِمْ

after them

baʿdihim

لَفِى

(are) surely in

lafī

شَكٍّۢ

doubt

shakkin

مِّنْهُ

concerning it

min'hu

مُرِيبٍۢ

disquieting

murībin

١٤

And they did not become divided until after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. And if not for a word1 that preceded from your Lord [postponing the penalty] until a specified time, it would have been concluded between them. And indeed, those who were granted inheritance of the Scripture after them are, concerning it, in disquieting doubt.

— Saheeh International

فَلِذَٰلِكَ

So to that

falidhālika

فَٱدْعُ ۖ

then invite

fa-ud'ʿu

وَٱسْتَقِمْ

and stand firm

wa-is'taqim

كَمَآ

as

kamā

أُمِرْتَ ۖ

you are commanded

umir'ta

وَلَا

and (do) not

walā

تَتَّبِعْ

follow

tattabiʿ

أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۖ

their desires

ahwāahum

وَقُلْ

but say

waqul

ءَامَنتُ

I believe

āmantu

بِمَآ

in what

bimā

أَنزَلَ

Allah has sent down

anzala

ٱللَّهُ

Allah has sent down

l-lahu

مِن

of

min

كِتَـٰبٍۢ ۖ

(the) Book

kitābin

وَأُمِرْتُ

and I am commanded

wa-umir'tu

لِأَعْدِلَ

that I do justice

li-aʿdila

بَيْنَكُمُ ۖ

between you

baynakumu

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

رَبُّنَا

(is) our Lord

rabbunā

وَرَبُّكُمْ ۖ

and your Lord

warabbukum

لَنَآ

For us

lanā

أَعْمَـٰلُنَا

our deeds

aʿmālunā

وَلَكُمْ

and for you

walakum

أَعْمَـٰلُكُمْ ۖ

your deeds

aʿmālukum

لَا

(There is) no

حُجَّةَ

argument

ḥujjata

بَيْنَنَا

between us

baynanā

وَبَيْنَكُمُ ۖ

and between you

wabaynakumu

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

يَجْمَعُ

will assemble

yajmaʿu

بَيْنَنَا ۖ

[between] us

baynanā

وَإِلَيْهِ

and to Him

wa-ilayhi

ٱلْمَصِيرُ

(is) the final return

l-maṣīru

١٥

So to that [religion of Allāh] invite, [O Muḥammad],1 and remain on a right course as you are commanded and do not follow their inclinations but say, "I have believed in what Allāh has revealed of scripture [i.e., the Qur’ān], and I have been commanded to do justice among you. Allāh is our Lord and your Lord. For us are our deeds, and for you your deeds.2 There is no [need for] argument between us and you.3 Allāh will bring us together, and to Him is the [final] destination."

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ

And those who

wa-alladhīna

يُحَآجُّونَ

argue

yuḥājjūna

فِى

concerning

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

مِنۢ

after

min

بَعْدِ

after

baʿdi

مَا

[what]

ٱسْتُجِيبَ

response has been made to Him

us'tujība

لَهُۥ

response has been made to Him

lahu

حُجَّتُهُمْ

their argument

ḥujjatuhum

دَاحِضَةٌ

(is) invalid

dāḥiḍatun

عِندَ

with

ʿinda

رَبِّهِمْ

their Lord

rabbihim

وَعَلَيْهِمْ

and upon them

waʿalayhim

غَضَبٌۭ

(is) wrath

ghaḍabun

وَلَهُمْ

and for them

walahum

عَذَابٌۭ

(is) a punishment

ʿadhābun

شَدِيدٌ

severe

shadīdun

١٦

And those who argue concerning Allāh after He has been responded to1 - their argument is invalid with their Lord, and upon them is [His] wrath, and for them is a severe punishment.

— Saheeh International

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

al-lahu

ٱلَّذِىٓ

(is) the One Who

alladhī

أَنزَلَ

(has) sent down

anzala

ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ

the Book

l-kitāba

بِٱلْحَقِّ

in truth

bil-ḥaqi

وَٱلْمِيزَانَ ۗ

and the Balance

wal-mīzāna

وَمَا

And what

wamā

يُدْرِيكَ

will make you know

yud'rīka

لَعَلَّ

Perhaps

laʿalla

ٱلسَّاعَةَ

the Hour

l-sāʿata

قَرِيبٌۭ

(is) near

qarībun

١٧

It is Allāh who has sent down the Book in truth and [also] the balance [i.e., justice]. And what will make you perceive? Perhaps the Hour is near.

— Saheeh International

يَسْتَعْجِلُ

Seek to hasten

yastaʿjilu

بِهَا

[of] it

bihā

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

لَا

(do) not

يُؤْمِنُونَ

believe

yu'minūna

بِهَا ۖ

in it

bihā

وَٱلَّذِينَ

and those who

wa-alladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

believe

āmanū

مُشْفِقُونَ

(are) fearful

mush'fiqūna

مِنْهَا

of it

min'hā

وَيَعْلَمُونَ

and know

wayaʿlamūna

أَنَّهَا

that it

annahā

ٱلْحَقُّ ۗ

(is) the truth

l-ḥaqu

أَلَآ

Unquestionably

alā

إِنَّ

indeed

inna

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

يُمَارُونَ

dispute

yumārūna

فِى

concerning

ٱلسَّاعَةِ

the Hour

l-sāʿati

لَفِى

(are) certainly in

lafī

ضَلَـٰلٍۭ

error

ḍalālin

بَعِيدٍ

far

baʿīdin

١٨

Those who do not believe in it are impatient for it,1 but those who believe are fearful of it and know that it is the truth. Unquestionably, those who dispute concerning the Hour are in extreme error.

— Saheeh International

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

al-lahu

لَطِيفٌۢ

(is) Subtle

laṭīfun

بِعِبَادِهِۦ

with His slaves

biʿibādihi

يَرْزُقُ

He gives provision

yarzuqu

مَن

(to) whom

man

يَشَآءُ ۖ

He wills

yashāu

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

ٱلْقَوِىُّ

(is) the All-Strong

l-qawiyu

ٱلْعَزِيزُ

the All-Mighty

l-ʿazīzu

١٩

Allāh is Subtle1 with His servants; He gives provision to whom He wills. And He is the Powerful, the Exalted in Might.

— Saheeh International

مَن

Whoever

man

كَانَ

is

kāna

يُرِيدُ

desiring

yurīdu

حَرْثَ

(the) harvest

ḥartha

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ

(of) the Hereafter

l-ākhirati

نَزِدْ

We increase

nazid

لَهُۥ

for him

lahu

فِى

in

حَرْثِهِۦ ۖ

his harvest

ḥarthihi

وَمَن

And whoever

waman

كَانَ

is

kāna

يُرِيدُ

desiring

yurīdu

حَرْثَ

(the) harvest

ḥartha

ٱلدُّنْيَا

(of) the world

l-dun'yā

نُؤْتِهِۦ

We give him

nu'tihi

مِنْهَا

of it

min'hā

وَمَا

but not

wamā

لَهُۥ

for him

lahu

فِى

in

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ

the Hereafter

l-ākhirati

مِن

any

min

نَّصِيبٍ

share

naṣībin

٢٠

Whoever desires the harvest of the Hereafter - We increase for him in his harvest [i.e., reward]. And whoever desires the harvest [i.e., benefits] of this world - We give him thereof, but there is not for him in the Hereafter any share.

— Saheeh International

أَمْ

Or

am

لَهُمْ

for them

lahum

شُرَكَـٰٓؤُا۟

(are) partners

shurakāu

شَرَعُوا۟

who have ordained

sharaʿū

لَهُم

for them

lahum

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلدِّينِ

the religion

l-dīni

مَا

what

لَمْ

not

lam

يَأْذَنۢ

Allah has given permission of it

yadhan

بِهِ

Allah has given permission of it

bihi

ٱللَّهُ ۚ

Allah has given permission of it

l-lahu

وَلَوْلَا

And if not

walawlā

كَلِمَةُ

(for) a word

kalimatu

ٱلْفَصْلِ

decisive

l-faṣli

لَقُضِىَ

surely, it (would have) been judged

laquḍiya

بَيْنَهُمْ ۗ

between them

baynahum

وَإِنَّ

And indeed

wa-inna

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

the wrongdoers

l-ẓālimīna

لَهُمْ

for them

lahum

عَذَابٌ

(is a) punishment

ʿadhābun

أَلِيمٌۭ

painful

alīmun

٢١

Or have they partners [i.e., other deities] who have ordained for them a religion to which Allāh has not consented? But if not for the decisive word,1 it would have been concluded between them. And indeed, the wrongdoers will have a painful punishment.

— Saheeh International

تَرَى

You will see

tarā

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

the wrongdoers

l-ẓālimīna

مُشْفِقِينَ

fearful

mush'fiqīna

مِمَّا

of what

mimmā

كَسَبُوا۟

they earned

kasabū

وَهُوَ

and it

wahuwa

وَاقِعٌۢ

(will) befall

wāqiʿun

بِهِمْ ۗ

[on] them

bihim

وَٱلَّذِينَ

And those who

wa-alladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

believe

āmanū

وَعَمِلُوا۟

and do

waʿamilū

ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ

righteous deeds

l-ṣāliḥāti

فِى

(will be) in

رَوْضَاتِ

flowering meadows

rawḍāti

ٱلْجَنَّاتِ ۖ

(of) the Gardens

l-janāti

لَهُم

for them

lahum

مَّا

(is) whatever

يَشَآءُونَ

they wish

yashāūna

عِندَ

with

ʿinda

رَبِّهِمْ ۚ

their Lord

rabbihim

ذَٰلِكَ

That

dhālika

هُوَ

it

huwa

ٱلْفَضْلُ

(is) the Bounty

l-faḍlu

ٱلْكَبِيرُ

the Great

l-kabīru

٢٢

You will see the wrongdoers fearful of what they have earned, and it will [certainly] befall them. And those who have believed and done righteous deeds will be in lush regions of the gardens [in Paradise] having whatever they will in the presence of their Lord. That is what is the great bounty.

— Saheeh International

ذَٰلِكَ

That

dhālika

ٱلَّذِى

(is of) which

alladhī

يُبَشِّرُ

Allah gives glad tidings

yubashiru

ٱللَّهُ

Allah gives glad tidings

l-lahu

عِبَادَهُ

(to) His slaves

ʿibādahu

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

believe

āmanū

وَعَمِلُوا۟

and do

waʿamilū

ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ ۗ

righteous deeds

l-ṣāliḥāti

قُل

Say

qul

لَّآ

Not

أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ

I ask you

asalukum

عَلَيْهِ

for it

ʿalayhi

أَجْرًا

any payment

ajran

إِلَّا

except

illā

ٱلْمَوَدَّةَ

the love

l-mawadata

فِى

among

ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ ۗ

the relatives

l-qur'bā

وَمَن

And whoever

waman

يَقْتَرِفْ

earns

yaqtarif

حَسَنَةًۭ

any good

ḥasanatan

نَّزِدْ

We increase

nazid

لَهُۥ

for him

lahu

فِيهَا

therein

fīhā

حُسْنًا ۚ

good

ḥus'nan

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

غَفُورٌۭ

(is) Oft-Forgiving

ghafūrun

شَكُورٌ

All-Appreciative

shakūrun

٢٣

It is that of which Allāh gives good tidings to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say, [O Muḥammad], "I do not ask you for it [i.e., this message] any payment [but] only good will through [i.e., due to] kinship." And whoever commits a good deed - We will increase for him good therein. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Appreciative.1

— Saheeh International

أَمْ

Or

am

يَقُولُونَ

(do) they say

yaqūlūna

ٱفْتَرَىٰ

He has invented

if'tarā

عَلَى

about

ʿalā

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

كَذِبًۭا ۖ

a lie

kadhiban

فَإِن

But if

fa-in

يَشَإِ

Allah willed

yasha-i

ٱللَّهُ

Allah willed

l-lahu

يَخْتِمْ

He would seal

yakhtim

عَلَىٰ

[over]

ʿalā

قَلْبِكَ ۗ

your heart

qalbika

وَيَمْحُ

And Allah eliminates

wayamḥu

ٱللَّهُ

And Allah eliminates

l-lahu

ٱلْبَـٰطِلَ

the falsehood

l-bāṭila

وَيُحِقُّ

and establishes

wayuḥiqqu

ٱلْحَقَّ

the truth

l-ḥaqa

بِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦٓ ۚ

by His Words

bikalimātihi

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, He

innahu

عَلِيمٌۢ

(is) All-Knowing

ʿalīmun

بِذَاتِ

of what

bidhāti

ٱلصُّدُورِ

(is in) the breasts

l-ṣudūri

٢٤

Or do they say, "He has invented about Allāh a lie"? But if Allāh willed, He could seal over your heart.1 And Allāh eliminates falsehood and establishes the truth by His words. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

— Saheeh International

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

ٱلَّذِى

(is) the One Who

alladhī

يَقْبَلُ

accepts

yaqbalu

ٱلتَّوْبَةَ

the repentance

l-tawbata

عَنْ

of

ʿan

عِبَادِهِۦ

His slaves

ʿibādihi

وَيَعْفُوا۟

and pardons

wayaʿfū

عَنِ

[of]

ʿani

ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ

the evil

l-sayiāti

وَيَعْلَمُ

and He knows

wayaʿlamu

مَا

what

تَفْعَلُونَ

you do

tafʿalūna

٢٥

And it is He who accepts repentance from His servants and pardons misdeeds, and He knows what you do.

— Saheeh International

وَيَسْتَجِيبُ

And He answers

wayastajību

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

believe

āmanū

وَعَمِلُوا۟

and do

waʿamilū

ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ

righteous deeds

l-ṣāliḥāti

وَيَزِيدُهُم

and increases (for) them

wayazīduhum

مِّن

from

min

فَضْلِهِۦ ۚ

His Bounty

faḍlihi

وَٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ

And the disbelievers

wal-kāfirūna

لَهُمْ

for them

lahum

عَذَابٌۭ

(will be) a punishment

ʿadhābun

شَدِيدٌۭ

severe

shadīdun

٢٦

And He answers [the supplication of] those who have believed and done righteous deeds and increases [for] them from His bounty. But the disbelievers will have a severe punishment.

— Saheeh International

۞ وَلَوْ

And if

walaw

بَسَطَ

Allah extends

basaṭa

ٱللَّهُ

Allah extends

l-lahu

ٱلرِّزْقَ

the provision

l-riz'qa

لِعِبَادِهِۦ

for His slaves

liʿibādihi

لَبَغَوْا۟

surely they would rebel

labaghaw

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

وَلَـٰكِن

but

walākin

يُنَزِّلُ

He sends down

yunazzilu

بِقَدَرٍۢ

in (due) measure

biqadarin

مَّا

what

يَشَآءُ ۚ

He wills

yashāu

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, He

innahu

بِعِبَادِهِۦ

of His slaves

biʿibādihi

خَبِيرٌۢ

(is) All-Aware

khabīrun

بَصِيرٌۭ

All-Seer

baṣīrun

٢٧

And if Allāh had extended [excessively] provision for His servants, they would have committed tyranny throughout the earth. But He sends [it] down in an amount which He wills. Indeed He is, of His servants, Aware and Seeing.

— Saheeh International

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

ٱلَّذِى

(is) the One Who

alladhī

يُنَزِّلُ

sends down

yunazzilu

ٱلْغَيْثَ

the rain

l-ghaytha

مِنۢ

after

min

بَعْدِ

after

baʿdi

مَا

[what]

قَنَطُوا۟

they have despaired

qanaṭū

وَيَنشُرُ

and spreads

wayanshuru

رَحْمَتَهُۥ ۚ

His mercy

raḥmatahu

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

ٱلْوَلِىُّ

(is) the Protector

l-waliyu

ٱلْحَمِيدُ

the Praiseworthy

l-ḥamīdu

٢٨

And it is He who sends down the rain after they had despaired and spreads His mercy. And He is the Protector, the Praiseworthy.

— Saheeh International

وَمِنْ

And among

wamin

ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ

His Signs

āyātihi

خَلْقُ

(is the) creation

khalqu

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

(of) the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَٱلْأَرْضِ

and the earth

wal-arḍi

وَمَا

and whatever

wamā

بَثَّ

He has dispersed

batha

فِيهِمَا

in both of them

fīhimā

مِن

of

min

دَآبَّةٍۢ ۚ

(the) creatures

dābbatin

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

عَلَىٰ

(is) over

ʿalā

جَمْعِهِمْ

their gathering

jamʿihim

إِذَا

when

idhā

يَشَآءُ

He wills

yashāu

قَدِيرٌۭ

All-Powerful

qadīrun

٢٩

And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and earth and what He has dispersed throughout them of creatures. And He, for gathering them when He wills, is competent.

— Saheeh International

وَمَآ

And whatever

wamā

أَصَـٰبَكُم

befalls you

aṣābakum

مِّن

of

min

مُّصِيبَةٍۢ

(the) misfortune

muṣībatin

فَبِمَا

(is because) of what

fabimā

كَسَبَتْ

have earned

kasabat

أَيْدِيكُمْ

your hands

aydīkum

وَيَعْفُوا۟

But He pardons

wayaʿfū

عَن

[from]

ʿan

كَثِيرٍۢ

much

kathīrin

٣٠

And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much.

— Saheeh International

وَمَآ

And not

wamā

أَنتُم

you

antum

بِمُعْجِزِينَ

(can) escape

bimuʿ'jizīna

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ

the earth

l-arḍi

وَمَا

and not

wamā

لَكُم

for you

lakum

مِّن

besides

min

دُونِ

besides

dūni

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

مِن

any

min

وَلِىٍّۢ

protector

waliyyin

وَلَا

and not

walā

نَصِيرٍۢ

any helper

naṣīrin

٣١

And you will not cause failure [to Allāh]1 upon the earth. And you have not besides Allāh any protector or helper.

— Saheeh International

وَمِنْ

And among

wamin

ءَايَـٰتِهِ

His Signs

āyātihi

ٱلْجَوَارِ

(are) the ships

l-jawāri

فِى

in

ٱلْبَحْرِ

the sea

l-baḥri

كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِ

like [the] mountains

kal-aʿlāmi

٣٢

And of His signs are the ships in the sea, like mountains.

— Saheeh International

إِن

If

in

يَشَأْ

He wills

yasha

يُسْكِنِ

He can cause the wind to become still

yus'kini

ٱلرِّيحَ

He can cause the wind to become still

l-rīḥa

فَيَظْلَلْنَ

then they would remain

fayaẓlalna

رَوَاكِدَ

motionless

rawākida

عَلَىٰ

on

ʿalā

ظَهْرِهِۦٓ ۚ

its back

ẓahrihi

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

فِى

in

ذَٰلِكَ

that

dhālika

لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ

surely (are) Signs

laāyātin

لِّكُلِّ

for everyone

likulli

صَبَّارٍۢ

patient

ṣabbārin

شَكُورٍ

(and) grateful

shakūrin

٣٣

If He willed, He could still the wind, and they would remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.

— Saheeh International

أَوْ

Or

aw

يُوبِقْهُنَّ

He could destroy them

yūbiq'hunna

بِمَا

for what

bimā

كَسَبُوا۟

they have earned

kasabū

وَيَعْفُ

but He pardons

wayaʿfu

عَن

[from]

ʿan

كَثِيرٍۢ

much

kathīrin

٣٤

Or He could destroy them1 for what they earned; but He pardons much.

— Saheeh International

وَيَعْلَمَ

And may know

wayaʿlama

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

يُجَـٰدِلُونَ

dispute

yujādilūna

فِىٓ

concerning

ءَايَـٰتِنَا

Our Signs

āyātinā

مَا

(that) not

لَهُم

for them

lahum

مِّن

any

min

مَّحِيصٍۢ

place of refuge

maḥīṣin

٣٥

And [that is so] those who dispute concerning Our signs may know that for them there is no place of escape.

— Saheeh International

فَمَآ

So whatever

famā

أُوتِيتُم

you are given

ūtītum

مِّن

of

min

شَىْءٍۢ

a thing

shayin

فَمَتَـٰعُ

(is) but a passing enjoyment

famatāʿu

ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ

(for) the life

l-ḥayati

ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ

(of) the world

l-dun'yā

وَمَا

But what

wamā

عِندَ

(is) with

ʿinda

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

خَيْرٌۭ

(is) better

khayrun

وَأَبْقَىٰ

and more lasting

wa-abqā

لِلَّذِينَ

for those who

lilladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

believe

āmanū

وَعَلَىٰ

and upon

waʿalā

رَبِّهِمْ

their Lord

rabbihim

يَتَوَكَّلُونَ

put (their) trust

yatawakkalūna

٣٦

So whatever thing you have been given - it is but [for] enjoyment of the worldly life. But what is with Allāh is better and more lasting for those who have believed and upon their Lord rely

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ

And those who

wa-alladhīna

يَجْتَنِبُونَ

avoid

yajtanibūna

كَبَـٰٓئِرَ

(the) greater

kabāira

ٱلْإِثْمِ

sins

l-ith'mi

وَٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ

and the immoralities

wal-fawāḥisha

وَإِذَا

and when

wa-idhā

مَا

and when

غَضِبُوا۟

they are angry

ghaḍibū

هُمْ

they

hum

يَغْفِرُونَ

forgive

yaghfirūna

٣٧

And those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, and when they are angry, they forgive,

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ

And those who

wa-alladhīna

ٱسْتَجَابُوا۟

respond

is'tajābū

لِرَبِّهِمْ

to their Lord

lirabbihim

وَأَقَامُوا۟

and establish

wa-aqāmū

ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ

prayer

l-ṣalata

وَأَمْرُهُمْ

and their affairs

wa-amruhum

شُورَىٰ

(are conducted by) consultation

shūrā

بَيْنَهُمْ

among them

baynahum

وَمِمَّا

and from what

wamimmā

رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ

We have provided them

razaqnāhum

يُنفِقُونَ

they spend

yunfiqūna

٣٨

And those who have responded to their Lord and established prayer and whose affair is [determined by] consultation among themselves, and from what We have provided them, they spend,

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ

And those who

wa-alladhīna

إِذَآ

when

idhā

أَصَابَهُمُ

strikes them

aṣābahumu

ٱلْبَغْىُ

tyranny

l-baghyu

هُمْ

they

hum

يَنتَصِرُونَ

defend themselves

yantaṣirūna

٣٩

And those who, when tyranny strikes them, they retaliate [in a just manner].1

— Saheeh International

وَجَزَٰٓؤُا۟

(The) recompense

wajazāu

سَيِّئَةٍۢ

(of) an evil

sayyi-atin

سَيِّئَةٌۭ

(is) an evil

sayyi-atun

مِّثْلُهَا ۖ

like it

mith'luhā

فَمَنْ

But whoever

faman

عَفَا

pardons

ʿafā

وَأَصْلَحَ

and makes reconciliation

wa-aṣlaḥa

فَأَجْرُهُۥ

then his reward

fa-ajruhu

عَلَى

(is) on

ʿalā

ٱللَّهِ ۚ

Allah

l-lahi

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, He

innahu

لَا

(does) not

يُحِبُّ

like

yuḥibbu

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

the wrongdoers

l-ẓālimīna

٤٠

And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allāh. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers.

— Saheeh International

وَلَمَنِ

And surely whosoever

walamani

ٱنتَصَرَ

defends himself

intaṣara

بَعْدَ

after

baʿda

ظُلْمِهِۦ

he has been wronged

ẓul'mihi

فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

then those

fa-ulāika

مَا

not

عَلَيْهِم

(is) against them

ʿalayhim

مِّن

any

min

سَبِيلٍ

way

sabīlin

٤١

And whoever retaliates after having been wronged - those have not upon them any cause [for blame].

— Saheeh International

إِنَّمَا

Only

innamā

ٱلسَّبِيلُ

the way

l-sabīlu

عَلَى

against

ʿalā

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

يَظْلِمُونَ

oppress

yaẓlimūna

ٱلنَّاسَ

the people

l-nāsa

وَيَبْغُونَ

and rebel

wayabghūna

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

بِغَيْرِ

without

bighayri

ٱلْحَقِّ ۚ

right

l-ḥaqi

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

Those

ulāika

لَهُمْ

for them

lahum

عَذَابٌ

(is) a punishment

ʿadhābun

أَلِيمٌۭ

painful

alīmun

٤٢

The cause is only against the ones who wrong the people and tyrannize upon the earth without right. Those will have a painful punishment.

— Saheeh International

وَلَمَن

And whoever

walaman

صَبَرَ

(is) patient

ṣabara

وَغَفَرَ

and forgives

waghafara

إِنَّ

indeed

inna

ذَٰلِكَ

that

dhālika

لَمِنْ

(is) surely of

lamin

عَزْمِ

matters of determination

ʿazmi

ٱلْأُمُورِ

matters of determination

l-umūri

٤٣

And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of resolve.1

— Saheeh International

وَمَن

And whoever

waman

يُضْلِلِ

Allah lets go astray

yuḍ'lili

ٱللَّهُ

Allah lets go astray

l-lahu

فَمَا

then not

famā

لَهُۥ

for him

lahu

مِن

any

min

وَلِىٍّۢ

protector

waliyyin

مِّنۢ

after Him

min

بَعْدِهِۦ ۗ

after Him

baʿdihi

وَتَرَى

And you will see

watarā

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

the wrongdoers

l-ẓālimīna

لَمَّا

when

lammā

رَأَوُا۟

they see

ra-awū

ٱلْعَذَابَ

the punishment

l-ʿadhāba

يَقُولُونَ

saying

yaqūlūna

هَلْ

Is

hal

إِلَىٰ

(there) for

ilā

مَرَدٍّۢ

return

maraddin

مِّن

any

min

سَبِيلٍۢ

way

sabīlin

٤٤

And he whom Allāh sends astray - for him there is no protector beyond Him. And you will see the wrongdoers, when they see the punishment, saying, "Is there for return [to the former world] any way?"

— Saheeh International

وَتَرَىٰهُمْ

And you will see them

watarāhum

يُعْرَضُونَ

being exposed

yuʿ'raḍūna

عَلَيْهَا

to it

ʿalayhā

خَـٰشِعِينَ

humbled

khāshiʿīna

مِنَ

by

mina

ٱلذُّلِّ

disgrace

l-dhuli

يَنظُرُونَ

looking

yanẓurūna

مِن

with

min

طَرْفٍ

a glance

ṭarfin

خَفِىٍّۢ ۗ

stealthy

khafiyyin

وَقَالَ

And will say

waqāla

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

ءَامَنُوٓا۟

believed

āmanū

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ

the losers

l-khāsirīna

ٱلَّذِينَ

(are) those who

alladhīna

خَسِرُوٓا۟

lost

khasirū

أَنفُسَهُمْ

themselves

anfusahum

وَأَهْلِيهِمْ

and their families

wa-ahlīhim

يَوْمَ

(on the) Day

yawma

ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗ

(of) the Resurrection

l-qiyāmati

أَلَآ

Unquestionably

alā

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

the wrongdoers

l-ẓālimīna

فِى

(are) in

عَذَابٍۢ

a punishment

ʿadhābin

مُّقِيمٍۢ

lasting

muqīmin

٤٥

And you will see them being exposed to it [i.e., the Fire], humbled from humiliation, looking from [behind] a covert glance. And those who had believed will say, "Indeed, the [true] losers are the ones who lost themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, the wrongdoers are in an enduring punishment."

— Saheeh International

وَمَا

And not

wamā

كَانَ

will be

kāna

لَهُم

for them

lahum

مِّنْ

any

min

أَوْلِيَآءَ

protector

awliyāa

يَنصُرُونَهُم

(who) will help them

yanṣurūnahum

مِّن

besides

min

دُونِ

besides

dūni

ٱللَّهِ ۗ

Allah

l-lahi

وَمَن

And whom

waman

يُضْلِلِ

Allah lets go astray

yuḍ'lili

ٱللَّهُ

Allah lets go astray

l-lahu

فَمَا

then not

famā

لَهُۥ

for him

lahu

مِن

any

min

سَبِيلٍ

way

sabīlin

٤٦

And there will not be for them any allies to aid them other than Allāh. And whoever Allāh sends astray - for him there is no way.

— Saheeh International

ٱسْتَجِيبُوا۟

Respond

is'tajībū

لِرَبِّكُم

to your Lord

lirabbikum

مِّن

before

min

قَبْلِ

before

qabli

أَن

[that]

an

يَأْتِىَ

comes

yatiya

يَوْمٌۭ

a Day

yawmun

لَّا

(there is) no

مَرَدَّ

averting

maradda

لَهُۥ

for it

lahu

مِنَ

from

mina

ٱللَّهِ ۚ

Allah

l-lahi

مَا

Not

لَكُم

(is) for you

lakum

مِّن

any

min

مَّلْجَإٍۢ

refuge

malja-in

يَوْمَئِذٍۢ

(on) that Day

yawma-idhin

وَمَا

and not

wamā

لَكُم

for you

lakum

مِّن

any

min

نَّكِيرٍۢ

denial

nakīrin

٤٧

Respond to your Lord before a Day comes from Allāh of which there is no repelling. No refuge will you have that Day, nor for you will there be any denial.1

— Saheeh International

فَإِنْ

Then if

fa-in

أَعْرَضُوا۟

they turn away

aʿraḍū

فَمَآ

then not

famā

أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ

We have sent you

arsalnāka

عَلَيْهِمْ

over them

ʿalayhim

حَفِيظًا ۖ

(as) a guardian

ḥafīẓan

إِنْ

Not

in

عَلَيْكَ

(is) on you

ʿalayka

إِلَّا

except

illā

ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ ۗ

the conveyance

l-balāghu

وَإِنَّآ

And indeed

wa-innā

إِذَآ

when

idhā

أَذَقْنَا

We cause to taste

adhaqnā

ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ

[the] man

l-insāna

مِنَّا

from Us

minnā

رَحْمَةًۭ

Mercy

raḥmatan

فَرِحَ

he rejoices

fariḥa

بِهَا ۖ

in it

bihā

وَإِن

But if

wa-in

تُصِبْهُمْ

befalls them

tuṣib'hum

سَيِّئَةٌۢ

evil

sayyi-atun

بِمَا

for what

bimā

قَدَّمَتْ

have sent forth

qaddamat

أَيْدِيهِمْ

their hands

aydīhim

فَإِنَّ

then indeed

fa-inna

ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ

[the] man

l-insāna

كَفُورٌۭ

(is) ungrateful

kafūrun

٤٨

But if they turn away - then We have not sent you, [O Muḥammad], over them as a guardian; upon you is only [the duty of] notification. And indeed, when We let man taste mercy from Us, he rejoices in it; but if evil afflicts him for what his hands have put forth, then indeed, man is ungrateful.

— Saheeh International

لِّلَّهِ

To Allah

lillahi

مُلْكُ

(belongs the) dominion

mul'ku

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

(of) the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ

and the earth

wal-arḍi

يَخْلُقُ

He creates

yakhluqu

مَا

what

يَشَآءُ ۚ

He wills

yashāu

يَهَبُ

He grants

yahabu

لِمَن

to whom

liman

يَشَآءُ

He wills

yashāu

إِنَـٰثًۭا

females

ināthan

وَيَهَبُ

and He grants

wayahabu

لِمَن

to whom

liman

يَشَآءُ

He wills

yashāu

ٱلذُّكُورَ

[the] males

l-dhukūra

٤٩

To Allāh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He creates what He wills. He gives to whom He wills female [children], and He gives to whom He wills males.

— Saheeh International

أَوْ

Or

aw

يُزَوِّجُهُمْ

He grants them

yuzawwijuhum

ذُكْرَانًۭا

males

dhuk'rānan

وَإِنَـٰثًۭا ۖ

and females

wa-ināthan

وَيَجْعَلُ

and He makes

wayajʿalu

مَن

whom

man

يَشَآءُ

He wills

yashāu

عَقِيمًا ۚ

barren

ʿaqīman

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, He

innahu

عَلِيمٌۭ

(is) All-Knower

ʿalīmun

قَدِيرٌۭ

All-Powerful

qadīrun

٥٠

Or He makes them [both] males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent.

— Saheeh International

۞ وَمَا

And not

wamā

كَانَ

is

kāna

لِبَشَرٍ

for any human

libasharin

أَن

that

an

يُكَلِّمَهُ

Allah should speak to him

yukallimahu

ٱللَّهُ

Allah should speak to him

l-lahu

إِلَّا

except

illā

وَحْيًا

(by) revelation

waḥyan

أَوْ

or

aw

مِن

from

min

وَرَآئِ

behind

warāi

حِجَابٍ

a veil

ḥijābin

أَوْ

or

aw

يُرْسِلَ

(by) sending

yur'sila

رَسُولًۭا

a messenger

rasūlan

فَيُوحِىَ

then he reveals

fayūḥiya

بِإِذْنِهِۦ

by His permission

bi-idh'nihi

مَا

what

يَشَآءُ ۚ

He wills

yashāu

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, He

innahu

عَلِىٌّ

(is) Most High

ʿaliyyun

حَكِيمٌۭ

Most Wise

ḥakīmun

٥١

And it is not for any human being that Allāh should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a partition or that He sends a messenger [i.e., angel] to reveal, by His permission, what He wills. Indeed, He is Most High and Wise.

— Saheeh International

وَكَذَٰلِكَ

And thus

wakadhālika

أَوْحَيْنَآ

We have revealed

awḥaynā

إِلَيْكَ

to you

ilayka

رُوحًۭا

an inspiration

rūḥan

مِّنْ

by

min

أَمْرِنَا ۚ

Our Command

amrinā

مَا

Not

كُنتَ

(did) you

kunta

تَدْرِى

know

tadrī

مَا

what

ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ

the Book (is)

l-kitābu

وَلَا

and not

walā

ٱلْإِيمَـٰنُ

the faith

l-īmānu

وَلَـٰكِن

But

walākin

جَعَلْنَـٰهُ

We have made it

jaʿalnāhu

نُورًۭا

a light

nūran

نَّهْدِى

We guide

nahdī

بِهِۦ

with it

bihi

مَن

whom

man

نَّشَآءُ

We will

nashāu

مِنْ

of

min

عِبَادِنَا ۚ

Our slaves

ʿibādinā

وَإِنَّكَ

And indeed, you

wa-innaka

لَتَهْدِىٓ

surely guide

latahdī

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

صِرَٰطٍۢ

(the) Path

ṣirāṭin

مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ

Straight

mus'taqīmin

٥٢

And thus We have revealed to you an inspiration of Our command [i.e., the Qur’ān]. You did not know what is the Book or [what is] faith, but We have made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, [O Muḥammad], you guide to a straight path -

— Saheeh International

صِرَٰطِ

(The) path

ṣirāṭi

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

ٱلَّذِى

the One

alladhī

لَهُۥ

to Whom

lahu

مَا

(belongs) whatever

فِى

(is) in

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَمَا

and whatever

wamā

فِى

(is) in

ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ

the earth

l-arḍi

أَلَآ

Unquestionably

alā

إِلَى

To

ilā

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

تَصِيرُ

reach

taṣīru

ٱلْأُمُورُ

all affairs

l-umūru

٥٣

The path of Allāh, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Unquestionably, to Allāh do [all] matters evolve [i.e., return].

— Saheeh International
