The Consultation
﷽
الشورى
كَذَٰلِكَ Thus kadhālika reveals yūḥī to you ilayka and to wa-ilā those alladhīna before you min before you qablika Allah l-lahu the All-Mighty l-ʿazīzu the All-Wise l-ḥakīmu
Thus has He revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], and to those before you - Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
لَهُۥ To Him lahu (belong) whatever mā (is) in fī the heavens l-samāwāti and whatever wamā (is) in fī the earth l-arḍi and He wahuwa (is) the Most High l-ʿaliyu the Most Great l-ʿaẓīmu
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and He is the Most High, the Most Great.1
تَكَادُ Almost takādu the heavens l-samāwātu break up yatafaṭṭarna from min above them fawqihinna and the Angels wal-malāikatu glorify yusabbiḥūna (the) praise biḥamdi (of) their Lord rabbihim and ask for forgiveness wayastaghfirūna for those liman on fī the earth l-arḍi Unquestionably alā indeed inna Allah l-laha He huwa (is) the Oft-Forgiving l-ghafūru the Most Merciful l-raḥīmu
The heavens almost break from above them,1 and the angels exalt [Allāh] with praise of their Lord and ask forgiveness for those on earth. Unquestionably, it is Allāh who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna take ittakhadhū besides min besides dūnihi protectors awliyāa Allah l-lahu (is) a Guardian ḥafīẓun over them ʿalayhim and not wamā you anta (are) over them ʿalayhim a manager biwakīlin
And those who take as allies other than Him - Allāh is [yet] Guardian over them; and you, [O Muḥammad], are not over them a manager.
وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus wakadhālika We have revealed awḥaynā to you ilayka a Quran qur'ānan (in) Arabic ʿarabiyyan that you may warn litundhira (the) mother umma (of) the towns l-qurā and whoever waman (is) around it ḥawlahā and warn watundhira (of the) Day yawma (of) Assembly l-jamʿi (there is) no lā doubt rayba in it fīhi A party farīqun (will be) in fī Paradise l-janati and a party wafarīqun in fī the Blazing Fire l-saʿīri
And thus We have revealed to you an Arabic Qur’ān that you may warn the Mother of Cities [i.e., Makkah] and those around it1 and warn of the Day of Assembly, about which there is no doubt. A party will be in Paradise and a party in the Blaze.
وَلَوْ And if walaw Allah willed shāa Allah willed l-lahu He could have made them lajaʿalahum a community ummatan one wāḥidatan but walākin He admits yud'khilu whom man He wills yashāu in (to) fī His Mercy raḥmatihi And the wrongdoers wal-ẓālimūna not mā for them lahum any min protector waliyyin and not walā any helper naṣīrin
And if Allāh willed, He could have made them [of] one religion, but He admits whom He wills1 into His mercy. And the wrongdoers have not any protector or helper.
أَمِ Or ami have they taken ittakhadhū besides Him min besides Him dūnihi protectors awliyāa But Allah fal-lahu He huwa (is) the Protector l-waliyu and He wahuwa gives life yuḥ'yī (to) the dead l-mawtā And He wahuwa (is) on ʿalā every kulli thing shayin All-Powerful qadīrun
Or have they taken protectors [or allies] besides Him? But Allāh - He is the Protector, and He gives life to the dead, and He is over all things competent.
وَمَا And whatever wamā you differ ikh'talaftum in it fīhi of min a thing shayin then its ruling faḥuk'muhu (is) to ilā Allah l-lahi That dhālikumu (is) Allah l-lahu my Lord rabbī upon Him ʿalayhi I put my trust tawakkaltu and to Him wa-ilayhi I turn unību
And in anything over which you disagree - its ruling is [to be referred] to Allāh. [Say], "That is Allāh, my Lord; upon Him I have relied, and to Him I turn back."1
فَاطِرُ (The) Creator fāṭiru (of) the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi He made jaʿala for you lakum from min yourselves anfusikum mates azwājan and among wamina the cattle l-anʿāmi mates azwājan He multiplies you yadhra-ukum thereby fīhi (There) is not laysa like Him kamith'lihi anything shayon and He wahuwa (is) the All-Hearer l-samīʿu the All-Seer l-baṣīru
[He is] Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you from yourselves, mates, and among the cattle, mates; He multiplies you thereby. There is nothing like unto Him,1 and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.2
لَهُۥ To Him (belongs) lahu (the) keys maqālīdu (of) the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi He extends yabsuṭu the provision l-riz'qa for whom liman He wills yashāu and restricts wayaqdiru Indeed, He innahu of every bikulli thing shayin (is) All-Knower ʿalīmun
To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. He extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. Indeed He is, of all things, Knowing.
۞ شَرَعَ He has ordained sharaʿa for you lakum of mina the religion l-dīni what mā He enjoined waṣṣā upon bihi Nuh nūḥan and that which wa-alladhī We have revealed awḥaynā to you ilayka and what wamā We enjoined waṣṣaynā upon bihi Ibrahim ib'rāhīma and Musa wamūsā and Isa waʿīsā To an establish aqīmū the religion l-dīna and not walā be divided tatafarraqū therein fīhi Is difficult kabura on ʿalā the polytheists l-mush'rikīna what mā you call them tadʿūhum to it ilayhi Allah l-lahu chooses yajtabī for Himself ilayhi whom man He wills yashāu and guides wayahdī to Himself ilayhi whoever man turns yunību
He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus - to establish the religion and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with Allāh is that to which you invite them. Allāh chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him].
وَمَا And not wamā they became divided tafarraqū until illā after min after baʿdi [what] mā came to them jāahumu the knowledge l-ʿil'mu (out of) rivalry baghyan among them baynahum And if not walawlā (for) a word kalimatun (that) preceded sabaqat from min your Lord rabbika for ilā a term ajalin specified musamman surely, it (would have) been settled laquḍiya between them baynahum And indeed wa-inna those who alladhīna were made to inherit ūrithū the Book l-kitāba after them min after them baʿdihim (are) surely in lafī doubt shakkin concerning it min'hu disquieting murībin
And they did not become divided until after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. And if not for a word1 that preceded from your Lord [postponing the penalty] until a specified time, it would have been concluded between them. And indeed, those who were granted inheritance of the Scripture after them are, concerning it, in disquieting doubt.
فَلِذَٰلِكَ So to that falidhālika then invite fa-ud'ʿu and stand firm wa-is'taqim as kamā you are commanded umir'ta and (do) not walā follow tattabiʿ their desires ahwāahum but say waqul I believe āmantu in what bimā Allah has sent down anzala Allah has sent down l-lahu of min (the) Book kitābin and I am commanded wa-umir'tu that I do justice li-aʿdila between you baynakumu Allah l-lahu (is) our Lord rabbunā and your Lord warabbukum For us lanā our deeds aʿmālunā and for you walakum your deeds aʿmālukum (There is) no lā argument ḥujjata between us baynanā and between you wabaynakumu Allah l-lahu will assemble yajmaʿu [between] us baynanā and to Him wa-ilayhi (is) the final return l-maṣīru
So to that [religion of Allāh] invite, [O Muḥammad],1 and remain on a right course as you are commanded and do not follow their inclinations but say, "I have believed in what Allāh has revealed of scripture [i.e., the Qur’ān], and I have been commanded to do justice among you. Allāh is our Lord and your Lord. For us are our deeds, and for you your deeds.2 There is no [need for] argument between us and you.3 Allāh will bring us together, and to Him is the [final] destination."
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna argue yuḥājjūna concerning fī Allah l-lahi after min after baʿdi [what] mā response has been made to Him us'tujība response has been made to Him lahu their argument ḥujjatuhum (is) invalid dāḥiḍatun with ʿinda their Lord rabbihim and upon them waʿalayhim (is) wrath ghaḍabun and for them walahum (is) a punishment ʿadhābun severe shadīdun
And those who argue concerning Allāh after He has been responded to1 - their argument is invalid with their Lord, and upon them is [His] wrath, and for them is a severe punishment.
ٱللَّهُ Allah al-lahu (is) the One Who alladhī (has) sent down anzala the Book l-kitāba in truth bil-ḥaqi and the Balance wal-mīzāna And what wamā will make you know yud'rīka Perhaps laʿalla the Hour l-sāʿata (is) near qarībun
It is Allāh who has sent down the Book in truth and [also] the balance [i.e., justice]. And what will make you perceive? Perhaps the Hour is near.
يَسْتَعْجِلُ Seek to hasten yastaʿjilu [of] it bihā those who alladhīna (do) not lā believe yu'minūna in it bihā and those who wa-alladhīna believe āmanū (are) fearful mush'fiqūna of it min'hā and know wayaʿlamūna that it annahā (is) the truth l-ḥaqu Unquestionably alā indeed inna those who alladhīna dispute yumārūna concerning fī the Hour l-sāʿati (are) certainly in lafī error ḍalālin far baʿīdin
Those who do not believe in it are impatient for it,1 but those who believe are fearful of it and know that it is the truth. Unquestionably, those who dispute concerning the Hour are in extreme error.
ٱللَّهُ Allah al-lahu (is) Subtle laṭīfun with His slaves biʿibādihi He gives provision yarzuqu (to) whom man He wills yashāu And He wahuwa (is) the All-Strong l-qawiyu the All-Mighty l-ʿazīzu
Allāh is Subtle1 with His servants; He gives provision to whom He wills. And He is the Powerful, the Exalted in Might.
مَن Whoever man is kāna desiring yurīdu (the) harvest ḥartha (of) the Hereafter l-ākhirati We increase nazid for him lahu in fī his harvest ḥarthihi And whoever waman is kāna desiring yurīdu (the) harvest ḥartha (of) the world l-dun'yā We give him nu'tihi of it min'hā but not wamā for him lahu in fī the Hereafter l-ākhirati any min share naṣībin
Whoever desires the harvest of the Hereafter - We increase for him in his harvest [i.e., reward]. And whoever desires the harvest [i.e., benefits] of this world - We give him thereof, but there is not for him in the Hereafter any share.
أَمْ Or am for them lahum (are) partners shurakāu who have ordained sharaʿū for them lahum of mina the religion l-dīni what mā not lam Allah has given permission of it yadhan Allah has given permission of it bihi Allah has given permission of it l-lahu And if not walawlā (for) a word kalimatu decisive l-faṣli surely, it (would have) been judged laquḍiya between them baynahum And indeed wa-inna the wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna for them lahum (is a) punishment ʿadhābun painful alīmun
Or have they partners [i.e., other deities] who have ordained for them a religion to which Allāh has not consented? But if not for the decisive word,1 it would have been concluded between them. And indeed, the wrongdoers will have a painful punishment.
تَرَى You will see tarā the wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna fearful mush'fiqīna of what mimmā they earned kasabū and it wahuwa (will) befall wāqiʿun [on] them bihim And those who wa-alladhīna believe āmanū and do waʿamilū righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti (will be) in fī flowering meadows rawḍāti (of) the Gardens l-janāti for them lahum (is) whatever mā they wish yashāūna with ʿinda their Lord rabbihim That dhālika it huwa (is) the Bounty l-faḍlu the Great l-kabīru
You will see the wrongdoers fearful of what they have earned, and it will [certainly] befall them. And those who have believed and done righteous deeds will be in lush regions of the gardens [in Paradise] having whatever they will in the presence of their Lord. That is what is the great bounty.
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika (is of) which alladhī Allah gives glad tidings yubashiru Allah gives glad tidings l-lahu (to) His slaves ʿibādahu those who alladhīna believe āmanū and do waʿamilū righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti Say qul Not lā I ask you asalukum for it ʿalayhi any payment ajran except illā the love l-mawadata among fī the relatives l-qur'bā And whoever waman earns yaqtarif any good ḥasanatan We increase nazid for him lahu therein fīhā good ḥus'nan Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is) Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun All-Appreciative shakūrun
It is that of which Allāh gives good tidings to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say, [O Muḥammad], "I do not ask you for it [i.e., this message] any payment [but] only good will through [i.e., due to] kinship." And whoever commits a good deed - We will increase for him good therein. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Appreciative.1
أَمْ Or am (do) they say yaqūlūna He has invented if'tarā about ʿalā Allah l-lahi a lie kadhiban But if fa-in Allah willed yasha-i Allah willed l-lahu He would seal yakhtim [over] ʿalā your heart qalbika And Allah eliminates wayamḥu And Allah eliminates l-lahu the falsehood l-bāṭila and establishes wayuḥiqqu the truth l-ḥaqa by His Words bikalimātihi Indeed, He innahu (is) All-Knowing ʿalīmun of what bidhāti (is in) the breasts l-ṣudūri
Or do they say, "He has invented about Allāh a lie"? But if Allāh willed, He could seal over your heart.1 And Allāh eliminates falsehood and establishes the truth by His words. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa (is) the One Who alladhī accepts yaqbalu the repentance l-tawbata of ʿan His slaves ʿibādihi and pardons wayaʿfū [of] ʿani the evil l-sayiāti and He knows wayaʿlamu what mā you do tafʿalūna
And it is He who accepts repentance from His servants and pardons misdeeds, and He knows what you do.
وَيَسْتَجِيبُ And He answers wayastajību those who alladhīna believe āmanū and do waʿamilū righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti and increases (for) them wayazīduhum from min His Bounty faḍlihi And the disbelievers wal-kāfirūna for them lahum (will be) a punishment ʿadhābun severe shadīdun
And He answers [the supplication of] those who have believed and done righteous deeds and increases [for] them from His bounty. But the disbelievers will have a severe punishment.
۞ وَلَوْ And if walaw Allah extends basaṭa Allah extends l-lahu the provision l-riz'qa for His slaves liʿibādihi surely they would rebel labaghaw in fī the earth l-arḍi but walākin He sends down yunazzilu in (due) measure biqadarin what mā He wills yashāu Indeed, He innahu of His slaves biʿibādihi (is) All-Aware khabīrun All-Seer baṣīrun
And if Allāh had extended [excessively] provision for His servants, they would have committed tyranny throughout the earth. But He sends [it] down in an amount which He wills. Indeed He is, of His servants, Aware and Seeing.
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa (is) the One Who alladhī sends down yunazzilu the rain l-ghaytha after min after baʿdi [what] mā they have despaired qanaṭū and spreads wayanshuru His mercy raḥmatahu And He wahuwa (is) the Protector l-waliyu the Praiseworthy l-ḥamīdu
And it is He who sends down the rain after they had despaired and spreads His mercy. And He is the Protector, the Praiseworthy.
وَمِنْ And among wamin His Signs āyātihi (is the) creation khalqu (of) the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi and whatever wamā He has dispersed batha in both of them fīhimā of min (the) creatures dābbatin And He wahuwa (is) over ʿalā their gathering jamʿihim when idhā He wills yashāu All-Powerful qadīrun
And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and earth and what He has dispersed throughout them of creatures. And He, for gathering them when He wills, is competent.
وَمَآ And whatever wamā befalls you aṣābakum of min (the) misfortune muṣībatin (is because) of what fabimā have earned kasabat your hands aydīkum But He pardons wayaʿfū [from] ʿan much kathīrin
And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much.
وَمَآ And not wamā you antum (can) escape bimuʿ'jizīna in fī the earth l-arḍi and not wamā for you lakum besides min besides dūni Allah l-lahi any min protector waliyyin and not walā any helper naṣīrin
And you will not cause failure [to Allāh]1 upon the earth. And you have not besides Allāh any protector or helper.
وَمِنْ And among wamin His Signs āyātihi (are) the ships l-jawāri in fī the sea l-baḥri like [the] mountains kal-aʿlāmi
And of His signs are the ships in the sea, like mountains.
إِن If in He wills yasha He can cause the wind to become still yus'kini He can cause the wind to become still l-rīḥa then they would remain fayaẓlalna motionless rawākida on ʿalā its back ẓahrihi Indeed inna in fī that dhālika surely (are) Signs laāyātin for everyone likulli patient ṣabbārin (and) grateful shakūrin
If He willed, He could still the wind, and they would remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.
أَوْ Or aw He could destroy them yūbiq'hunna for what bimā they have earned kasabū but He pardons wayaʿfu [from] ʿan much kathīrin
Or He could destroy them1 for what they earned; but He pardons much.
وَيَعْلَمَ And may know wayaʿlama those who alladhīna dispute yujādilūna concerning fī Our Signs āyātinā (that) not mā for them lahum any min place of refuge maḥīṣin
And [that is so] those who dispute concerning Our signs may know that for them there is no place of escape.
فَمَآ So whatever famā you are given ūtītum of min a thing shayin (is) but a passing enjoyment famatāʿu (for) the life l-ḥayati (of) the world l-dun'yā But what wamā (is) with ʿinda Allah l-lahi (is) better khayrun and more lasting wa-abqā for those who lilladhīna believe āmanū and upon waʿalā their Lord rabbihim put (their) trust yatawakkalūna
So whatever thing you have been given - it is but [for] enjoyment of the worldly life. But what is with Allāh is better and more lasting for those who have believed and upon their Lord rely
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna avoid yajtanibūna (the) greater kabāira sins l-ith'mi and the immoralities wal-fawāḥisha and when wa-idhā and when mā they are angry ghaḍibū they hum forgive yaghfirūna
And those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, and when they are angry, they forgive,
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna respond is'tajābū to their Lord lirabbihim and establish wa-aqāmū prayer l-ṣalata and their affairs wa-amruhum (are conducted by) consultation shūrā among them baynahum and from what wamimmā We have provided them razaqnāhum they spend yunfiqūna
And those who have responded to their Lord and established prayer and whose affair is [determined by] consultation among themselves, and from what We have provided them, they spend,
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna when idhā strikes them aṣābahumu tyranny l-baghyu they hum defend themselves yantaṣirūna
And those who, when tyranny strikes them, they retaliate [in a just manner].1
وَجَزَٰٓؤُا۟ (The) recompense wajazāu (of) an evil sayyi-atin (is) an evil sayyi-atun like it mith'luhā But whoever faman pardons ʿafā and makes reconciliation wa-aṣlaḥa then his reward fa-ajruhu (is) on ʿalā Allah l-lahi Indeed, He innahu (does) not lā like yuḥibbu the wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna
And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allāh. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers.
وَلَمَنِ And surely whosoever walamani defends himself intaṣara after baʿda he has been wronged ẓul'mihi then those fa-ulāika not mā (is) against them ʿalayhim any min way sabīlin
And whoever retaliates after having been wronged - those have not upon them any cause [for blame].
إِنَّمَا Only innamā the way l-sabīlu against ʿalā those who alladhīna oppress yaẓlimūna the people l-nāsa and rebel wayabghūna in fī the earth l-arḍi without bighayri right l-ḥaqi Those ulāika for them lahum (is) a punishment ʿadhābun painful alīmun
The cause is only against the ones who wrong the people and tyrannize upon the earth without right. Those will have a painful punishment.
وَلَمَن And whoever walaman (is) patient ṣabara and forgives waghafara indeed inna that dhālika (is) surely of lamin matters of determination ʿazmi matters of determination l-umūri
And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of resolve.1
وَمَن And whoever waman Allah lets go astray yuḍ'lili Allah lets go astray l-lahu then not famā for him lahu any min protector waliyyin after Him min after Him baʿdihi And you will see watarā the wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna when lammā they see ra-awū the punishment l-ʿadhāba saying yaqūlūna Is hal (there) for ilā return maraddin any min way sabīlin
And he whom Allāh sends astray - for him there is no protector beyond Him. And you will see the wrongdoers, when they see the punishment, saying, "Is there for return [to the former world] any way?"
وَتَرَىٰهُمْ And you will see them watarāhum being exposed yuʿ'raḍūna to it ʿalayhā humbled khāshiʿīna by mina disgrace l-dhuli looking yanẓurūna with min a glance ṭarfin stealthy khafiyyin And will say waqāla those who alladhīna believed āmanū Indeed inna the losers l-khāsirīna (are) those who alladhīna lost khasirū themselves anfusahum and their families wa-ahlīhim (on the) Day yawma (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati Unquestionably alā Indeed inna the wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna (are) in fī a punishment ʿadhābin lasting muqīmin
And you will see them being exposed to it [i.e., the Fire], humbled from humiliation, looking from [behind] a covert glance. And those who had believed will say, "Indeed, the [true] losers are the ones who lost themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, the wrongdoers are in an enduring punishment."
وَمَا And not wamā will be kāna for them lahum any min protector awliyāa (who) will help them yanṣurūnahum besides min besides dūni Allah l-lahi And whom waman Allah lets go astray yuḍ'lili Allah lets go astray l-lahu then not famā for him lahu any min way sabīlin
And there will not be for them any allies to aid them other than Allāh. And whoever Allāh sends astray - for him there is no way.
ٱسْتَجِيبُوا۟ Respond is'tajībū to your Lord lirabbikum before min before qabli [that] an comes yatiya a Day yawmun (there is) no lā averting maradda for it lahu from mina Allah l-lahi Not mā (is) for you lakum any min refuge malja-in (on) that Day yawma-idhin and not wamā for you lakum any min denial nakīrin
Respond to your Lord before a Day comes from Allāh of which there is no repelling. No refuge will you have that Day, nor for you will there be any denial.1
فَإِنْ Then if fa-in they turn away aʿraḍū then not famā We have sent you arsalnāka over them ʿalayhim (as) a guardian ḥafīẓan Not in (is) on you ʿalayka except illā the conveyance l-balāghu And indeed wa-innā when idhā We cause to taste adhaqnā [the] man l-insāna from Us minnā Mercy raḥmatan he rejoices fariḥa in it bihā But if wa-in befalls them tuṣib'hum evil sayyi-atun for what bimā have sent forth qaddamat their hands aydīhim then indeed fa-inna [the] man l-insāna (is) ungrateful kafūrun
But if they turn away - then We have not sent you, [O Muḥammad], over them as a guardian; upon you is only [the duty of] notification. And indeed, when We let man taste mercy from Us, he rejoices in it; but if evil afflicts him for what his hands have put forth, then indeed, man is ungrateful.
لِّلَّهِ To Allah lillahi (belongs the) dominion mul'ku (of) the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi He creates yakhluqu what mā He wills yashāu He grants yahabu to whom liman He wills yashāu females ināthan and He grants wayahabu to whom liman He wills yashāu [the] males l-dhukūra
To Allāh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He creates what He wills. He gives to whom He wills female [children], and He gives to whom He wills males.
أَوْ Or aw He grants them yuzawwijuhum males dhuk'rānan and females wa-ināthan and He makes wayajʿalu whom man He wills yashāu barren ʿaqīman Indeed, He innahu (is) All-Knower ʿalīmun All-Powerful qadīrun
Or He makes them [both] males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent.
۞ وَمَا And not wamā is kāna for any human libasharin that an Allah should speak to him yukallimahu Allah should speak to him l-lahu except illā (by) revelation waḥyan or aw from min behind warāi a veil ḥijābin or aw (by) sending yur'sila a messenger rasūlan then he reveals fayūḥiya by His permission bi-idh'nihi what mā He wills yashāu Indeed, He innahu (is) Most High ʿaliyyun Most Wise ḥakīmun
And it is not for any human being that Allāh should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a partition or that He sends a messenger [i.e., angel] to reveal, by His permission, what He wills. Indeed, He is Most High and Wise.
وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus wakadhālika We have revealed awḥaynā to you ilayka an inspiration rūḥan by min Our Command amrinā Not mā (did) you kunta know tadrī what mā the Book (is) l-kitābu and not walā the faith l-īmānu But walākin We have made it jaʿalnāhu a light nūran We guide nahdī with it bihi whom man We will nashāu of min Our slaves ʿibādinā And indeed, you wa-innaka surely guide latahdī to ilā (the) Path ṣirāṭin Straight mus'taqīmin
And thus We have revealed to you an inspiration of Our command [i.e., the Qur’ān]. You did not know what is the Book or [what is] faith, but We have made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, [O Muḥammad], you guide to a straight path -
صِرَٰطِ (The) path ṣirāṭi (of) Allah l-lahi the One alladhī to Whom lahu (belongs) whatever mā (is) in fī the heavens l-samāwāti and whatever wamā (is) in fī the earth l-arḍi Unquestionably alā To ilā Allah l-lahi reach taṣīru all affairs l-umūru
The path of Allāh, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Unquestionably, to Allāh do [all] matters evolve [i.e., return].
