Al-Mu'minūn
The Believers
﷽
المؤمنون
قَدْ Indeed qad successful aflaḥa (are) the believers l-mu'minūna
Certainly will the believers have succeeded:
ٱلَّذِينَ Those who alladhīna [they] hum during fī their prayers ṣalātihim (are) humbly submissive khāshiʿūna
They who are during their prayer humbly intent
وَٱلَّذِينَ Those who wa-alladhīna [they] hum from ʿani the vain talk l-laghwi turn away muʿ'riḍūna
And they who turn away from ill speech
وَٱلَّذِينَ Those who wa-alladhīna [they] hum of purification works lilzzakati (are) doers fāʿilūna
And they who are observant of zakāh
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna [they] hum of their modesty lifurūjihim (are) guardians ḥāfiẓūna
And they who guard their private parts
إِلَّا Except illā from ʿalā their spouses azwājihim or aw what mā possess malakat their right hands aymānuhum then indeed, they fa-innahum (are) not ghayru blameworthy malūmīna
Except from their wives or those their right hands possess,1 for indeed, they will not be blamed -
فَمَنِ Then whoever famani seeks ib'taghā beyond warāa that dhālika then those fa-ulāika [they] humu (are) the transgressors l-ʿādūna
But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors -
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna [they] hum of their trusts li-amānātihim and their promise(s) waʿahdihim (are) observers rāʿūna
And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna [they] hum over ʿalā their prayers ṣalawātihim they guard yuḥāfiẓūna
And they who carefully maintain their prayers -
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ulāika [they] humu (are) the inheritors l-wārithūna
Those are the inheritors
ٱلَّذِينَ Who alladhīna will inherit yarithūna the Paradise l-fir'dawsa They hum therein fīhā (will) abide forever khālidūna
Who will inherit al-Firdaus.1 They will abide therein eternally.
وَلَقَدْ And indeed walaqad We created khalaqnā the humankind l-insāna from min an essence sulālatin of min clay ṭīnin
And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay.
ثُمَّ Then thumma We placed him jaʿalnāhu (as) a semen-drop nuṭ'fatan in fī a resting place qarārin firm makīnin
Then We placed him as a sperm-drop1 in a firm lodging [i.e., the womb].
ثُمَّ Then thumma We created khalaqnā the semen-drop l-nuṭ'fata (into) a clinging substance ʿalaqatan then We created fakhalaqnā the clinging substance l-ʿalaqata (into) an embryonic lump muḍ'ghatan then We created fakhalaqnā the embryonic lump l-muḍ'ghata (into) bones ʿiẓāman then We clothed fakasawnā the bones l-ʿiẓāma (with) flesh laḥman then thumma We produce it anshanāhu (as) a creation khalqan another ākhara So blessed is fatabāraka Allah l-lahu (the) Best aḥsanu (of) the Creators l-khāliqīna
Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allāh, the best of creators.1
ثُمَّ Then thumma indeed, you innakum after baʿda that dhālika surely (will) die lamayyitūna
Then indeed, after that you are to die.
ثُمَّ Then thumma indeed, you innakum (on the) Day yawma (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati will be resurrected tub'ʿathūna
Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected.
وَلَقَدْ And indeed walaqad We (have) created khalaqnā above you fawqakum seven sabʿa paths ṭarāiqa and not wamā We are kunnā of ʿani the creation l-khalqi unaware ghāfilīna
And We have created above you seven layered heavens, and never have We been of [Our] creation unaware.
وَأَنزَلْنَا And We send down wa-anzalnā from mina the sky l-samāi water māan in (due) measure biqadarin then We cause it to settle fa-askannāhu in fī the earth l-arḍi And indeed, We wa-innā on ʿalā taking it away dhahābin taking it away bihi surely (are) Able laqādirūna
And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away.
فَأَنشَأْنَا Then We produced fa-anshanā for you lakum by it bihi gardens jannātin of date-palms min of date-palms nakhīlin and grapevines wa-aʿnābin for you lakum in it fīhā (are) fruits fawākihu abundant kathīratun and from them wamin'hā you eat takulūna
And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat.
وَشَجَرَةًۭ And a tree washajaratan (that) springs forth takhruju from min Mount Sinai ṭūri Mount Sinai saynāa (which) produces tanbutu oil bil-duh'ni and a relish waṣib'ghin for those who eat lil'ākilīna
And [We brought forth] a tree issuing from Mount Sinai which produces oil and food [i.e., olives] for those who eat.
وَإِنَّ And indeed wa-inna for you lakum in fī the cattle l-anʿāmi surely, (is) a lesson laʿib'ratan We give you drink nus'qīkum from what mimmā (is) in fī their bellies buṭūnihā and for you walakum in them fīhā (are) benefits manāfiʿu many kathīratun and of them wamin'hā you eat takulūna
And indeed, for you in livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are numerous benefits, and from them you eat.
وَعَلَيْهَا And on them waʿalayhā and on waʿalā [the] ships l-ful'ki you are carried tuḥ'malūna
And upon them and on ships you are carried.
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad We sent arsalnā Nuh nūḥan to ilā his people qawmihi and he said faqāla O my people yāqawmi Worship uʿ'budū Allah l-laha not mā for you lakum (is) any min god ilāhin other than Him ghayruhu Then will not afalā you fear tattaqūna
And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, and he said, "O my people, worship Allāh; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him?"
فَقَالَ But said faqāla the chiefs l-mala-u (of) those who alladhīna disbelieved kafarū among min his people qawmihi This is not mā This is not hādhā but illā a man basharun like you mith'lukum he wishes yurīdu to an assert (his) superiority yatafaḍḍala over you ʿalaykum and if walaw Allah had willed shāa Allah had willed l-lahu surely He (would have) sent down la-anzala Angels malāikatan Not mā we heard samiʿ'nā of this bihādhā from fī our forefathers ābāinā our forefathers l-awalīna
But the eminent among those who disbelieved from his people said, "This is not but a man like yourselves who wishes to take precedence over you; and if Allāh had willed [to send a messenger], He would have sent down angels. We have not heard of this among our forefathers.
إِنْ Not in he huwa (is) but illā a man rajulun in him bihi (is) madness jinnatun so wait fatarabbaṣū concerning him bihi until ḥattā a time ḥīnin
He is not but a man possessed with madness, so wait concerning him for a time."
قَالَ He said qāla My Lord rabbi Help me unṣur'nī because bimā they deny me kadhabūni
[Noah] said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me."
فَأَوْحَيْنَآ So We inspired fa-awḥaynā to him ilayhi That ani construct iṣ'naʿi the ship l-ful'ka under Our eyes bi-aʿyuninā and Our inspiration wawaḥyinā then when fa-idhā comes jāa Our Command amrunā and gushes forth wafāra the oven l-tanūru then put fa-us'luk into it fīhā of min every (kind) kullin (of) mates zawjayni two ith'nayni and your family wa-ahlaka except illā those man (has) preceded sabaqa against whom ʿalayhi the Word l-qawlu thereof min'hum And (do) not walā address Me tukhāṭib'nī concerning fī those who alladhīna wronged ẓalamū indeed, they innahum (are) the ones to be drowned mugh'raqūna
So We inspired to him, "Construct the ship under Our observation and Our inspiration, and when Our command comes and the oven overflows,1 put into it [i.e., the ship] from each [creature] two mates and your family, except him for whom the decree [of destruction] has proceeded. And do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are to be drowned.
فَإِذَا And when fa-idhā you (have) boarded is'tawayta you anta and whoever waman (is) with you maʿaka [on] ʿalā the ship l-ful'ki then say faquli Praise l-ḥamdu (be) to Allah lillahi Who alladhī (has) saved us najjānā from mina the people l-qawmi the wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna
And when you have boarded the ship, you and those with you, then say, 'Praise to Allāh who has saved us from the wrongdoing people.'
وَقُل And say waqul My Lord rabbi cause me to land anzil'nī (at) a landing place munzalan blessed mubārakan and You wa-anta (are) the Best khayru (of) those who cause to land.' l-munzilīna
And say, 'My Lord, let me land at a blessed landing place, and You are the best to accommodate [us].'"
إِنَّ Indeed inna in fī that dhālika surely (are) Signs laāyātin and indeed wa-in We are kunnā surely testing lamub'talīna
Indeed in that are signs, and indeed, We are ever testing [Our servants].
ثُمَّ Then thumma We produced anshanā after them min after them baʿdihim a generation qarnan another ākharīna
Then We produced after them a generation of others.
فَأَرْسَلْنَا And We sent fa-arsalnā among them fīhim a Messenger rasūlan from themselves min'hum [that] ani Worship uʿ'budū Allah l-laha not mā for you lakum (is) any min god ilāhin other than Him ghayruhu Then will not afalā you fear tattaqūna
And We sent among them a messenger1 from themselves, [saying], "Worship Allāh; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him?"
وَقَالَ And said waqāla the chiefs l-mala-u of min his people qawmihi who alladhīna disbelieved kafarū and denied wakadhabū (the) meeting biliqāi (of) the Hereafter l-ākhirati while We had given them luxury wa-atrafnāhum in fī the life l-ḥayati (of) the world l-dun'yā Not mā (is) this hādhā but illā a man basharun like you mith'lukum He eats yakulu of what mimmā you eat takulūna [from it] min'hu and he drinks wayashrabu of what mimmā you drink tashrabūna
And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink.
وَلَئِنْ And surely if wala-in you obey aṭaʿtum a man basharan like you mith'lakum indeed, you innakum then idhan surely (will be) losers lakhāsirūna
And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers.
أَيَعِدُكُمْ Does he promise you ayaʿidukum that you annakum when idhā you are dead mittum and you become wakuntum dust turāban and bones waʿiẓāman that you annakum (will be) brought forth mukh'rajūna
Does he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones that you will be brought forth [once more]?
۞ هَيْهَاتَ Far-(fetched) hayhāta far-(fetched) hayhāta is what limā you are promised tūʿadūna
How far, how far, is that which you are promised.1
إِنْ Not in it hiya (is) but illā our life ḥayātunā (of) the world l-dun'yā we die namūtu and we live wanaḥyā and not wamā we naḥnu (will be) resurrected bimabʿūthīna
It [i.e., life] is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected.
إِنْ Not in (is) he huwa but illā a man rajulun who (has) invented if'tarā about ʿalā Allah l-lahi a lie kadhiban and not wamā we naḥnu (in) him lahu (are) believers bimu'minīna
He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allāh, and we will not believe him."
قَالَ He said qāla My Lord rabbi Help me unṣur'nī because bimā they deny me kadhabūni
He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me."
قَالَ He said qāla After a little while ʿammā After a little while qalīlin surely they will become layuṣ'biḥunna regretful nādimīna
[Allāh] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful."
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ So seized them fa-akhadhathumu the awful cry l-ṣayḥatu in truth bil-ḥaqi and We made them fajaʿalnāhum (as) rubbish of dead leaves ghuthāan So away fabuʿ'dan with the people lil'qawmi the wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna
So the shriek1 seized them in truth,2 and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people.
ثُمَّ Then thumma We produced anshanā after them min after them baʿdihim a generation qurūnan another ākharīna
Then We produced after them other generations.
مَا Not mā can precede tasbiqu any min nation ummatin its term ajalahā and not wamā they (can) delay (it) yastakhirūna
No nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter].
ثُمَّ Then thumma We sent arsalnā Our Messengers rusulanā (in) succession tatrā Every time kulla Every time mā came jāa (to) a nation ummatan its Messenger rasūluhā they denied him kadhabūhu so We made (them) follow fa-atbaʿnā some of them baʿḍahum others baʿḍan and We made them wajaʿalnāhum narrations aḥādītha So away fabuʿ'dan with a people liqawmin not lā they believe yu'minūna
Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations.1 So away with a people who do not believe.
ثُمَّ Then thumma We sent arsalnā Musa mūsā and his brother wa-akhāhu Harun hārūna with Our Signs biāyātinā and an authority wasul'ṭānin clear mubīnin
Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority1
إِلَىٰ To ilā Firaun fir'ʿawna and his chiefs wamala-ihi but they behaved arrogantly fa-is'takbarū and they were wakānū a people qawman haughty ʿālīna
To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people.
فَقَالُوٓا۟ Then they said faqālū Shall we believe anu'minu (in) two men libasharayni like ourselves mith'linā while their people waqawmuhumā for us lanā (are) slaves ʿābidūna
They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?"
فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا So they denied them fakadhabūhumā and they became fakānū of mina those who were destroyed l-muh'lakīna
So they denied them and were of those destroyed.
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad We gave ātaynā Musa mūsā the Scripture l-kitāba so that they may laʿallahum be guided yahtadūna
And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they1 would be guided.
وَجَعَلْنَا And We made wajaʿalnā (the) son ib'na (of) Maryam maryama and his mother wa-ummahu a Sign āyatan and We sheltered them waāwaynāhumā to ilā a high ground rabwatin of tranquility dhāti of tranquility qarārin and water springs wamaʿīnin
And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O Messengers yāayyuhā O Messengers l-rusulu Eat kulū of mina the good things l-ṭayibāti and do wa-iʿ'malū righteous (deeds) ṣāliḥan Indeed, I Am innī of what bimā you do taʿmalūna All-Knower ʿalīmun
[Allāh said], "O messengers, eat from the good foods and work righteousness. Indeed I, of what you do, am Knowing.
وَإِنَّ And indeed wa-inna this hādhihi your religion ummatukum (is) religion ummatan one wāḥidatan And I Am wa-anā your Lord rabbukum so fear Me fa-ittaqūni
And indeed this, your religion, is one religion,1 and I am your Lord, so fear Me."
فَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟ But they cut off fataqaṭṭaʿū their affair (of unity) amrahum between them baynahum (into) sects zuburan each kullu faction ḥiz'bin in what bimā they have ladayhim rejoicing fariḥūna
But they [i.e., the people] divided their religion among them into portions [i.e., sects] - each faction, in what it has,1 rejoicing.
فَذَرْهُمْ So leave them fadharhum in fī their confusion ghamratihim until ḥattā a time ḥīnin
So leave them in their confusion for a time.
أَيَحْسَبُونَ Do they think ayaḥsabūna that what annamā We extend to them numidduhum [with it] bihi of min wealth mālin and children wabanīna
Do they think that what We extend to them of wealth and children
نُسَارِعُ We hasten nusāriʿu to them lahum in fī the good l-khayrāti Nay bal not lā they perceive yashʿurūna
Is [because] We hasten for them good things? Rather, they do not perceive.1
إِنَّ Indeed inna those who alladhīna [they] hum from min (the) fear khashyati (of) their Lord rabbihim (are) cautious mush'fiqūna
Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those wa-alladhīna [they] hum in (the) Signs biāyāti (of) their Lord rabbihim believe yu'minūna
And they who believe in the signs of their Lord
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those wa-alladhīna [they] hum with their Lord birabbihim (do) not lā associate partners yush'rikūna
And they who do not associate anything with their Lord
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna give yu'tūna what mā they give ātaw while their hearts waqulūbuhum (are) fearful wajilatun because they annahum to ilā their Lord rabbihim (will) return rājiʿūna
And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful1 because they will be returning to their Lord -
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ (It is) those ulāika who hasten yusāriʿūna in fī the good (deeds) l-khayrāti and they wahum in them lahā (are) foremost sābiqūna
It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein.
وَلَا And not walā We burden nukallifu any soul nafsan except illā (to) its capacity wus'ʿahā and with Us waladaynā (is) a Record kitābun (which) speaks yanṭiqu with the truth bil-ḥaqi and they wahum (will) not lā be wronged yuẓ'lamūna
And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged.
بَلْ Nay bal their hearts qulūbuhum (are) in fī confusion ghamratin over min this hādhā and for them walahum (are) deeds aʿmālun besides min besides dūni that dhālika they hum for it lahā (are) doers ʿāmilūna
But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides that [i.e., disbelief] which they are doing,
حَتَّىٰٓ Until ḥattā when idhā We seize akhadhnā their affluent ones mut'rafīhim with the punishment bil-ʿadhābi behold idhā They hum cry for help yajarūna
Until when We seize their affluent ones with punishment,1 at once they are crying [to Allāh] for help.
لَا (Do) not lā cry for help tajarū today l-yawma Indeed, you innakum from Us minnā not lā will be helped tunṣarūna
Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped.
قَدْ Verily qad were kānat My Verses āyātī recited tut'lā to you ʿalaykum but you used fakuntum (to) on ʿalā your heels aʿqābikum turn back tankiṣūna
My verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels.
مُسْتَكْبِرِينَ (Being) arrogant mus'takbirīna about it bihi conversing by night sāmiran speaking evil tahjurūna
In arrogance regarding it,1 conversing by night, speaking evil.
أَفَلَمْ Then, do not afalam they ponder yaddabbarū the Word l-qawla or am has come to them jāahum what mā not lam (had) come yati (to) their forefathers ābāahumu (to) their forefathers l-awalīna
Then have they not reflected over the word [i.e., the Qur’ān], or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers?
أَمْ Or am (do) not lam they recognize yaʿrifū their Messenger rasūlahum so they fahum (are) rejecting him lahu (are) rejecting him munkirūna
Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging?
أَمْ Or am they say yaqūlūna In him bihi (is) madness jinnatun Nay bal he brought them jāahum the truth bil-ḥaqi but most of them wa-aktharuhum to the truth lil'ḥaqqi (are) averse kārihūna
Or do they say, "In him is madness"? Rather, he brought them the truth, but most of them, to the truth, are averse.
وَلَوِ But if walawi (had) followed ittabaʿa the truth l-ḥaqu their desires ahwāahum surely (would) have been corrupted lafasadati the heavens l-samāwātu and the earth wal-arḍu and whoever waman (is) therein fīhinna Nay bal We have brought them ataynāhum their reminder bidhik'rihim but they fahum from ʿan their reminder dhik'rihim (are) turning away muʿ'riḍūna
But if the Truth [i.e., Allāh] had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message,1 but they, from their message, are turning away.
أَمْ Or am you ask them tasaluhum (for) a payment kharjan But the payment fakharāju (of) your Lord rabbika (is) best khayrun and He wahuwa (is) the Best khayru (of) the Providers l-rāziqīna
Or do you, [O Muḥammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers.
وَإِنَّكَ And indeed, you wa-innaka certainly call them latadʿūhum to ilā (the) Path ṣirāṭin Straight mus'taqīmin
And indeed, you invite them to a straight path.
وَإِنَّ And indeed wa-inna those who alladhīna (do) not lā believe yu'minūna in the Hereafter bil-ākhirati from ʿani the path l-ṣirāṭi surely (are) deviating lanākibūna
But indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path.
۞ وَلَوْ And if walaw We had mercy on them raḥim'nāhum and We removed wakashafnā what mā (was) on them bihim of min (the) hardship ḍurrin surely they would persist lalajjū in fī their transgression ṭugh'yānihim wandering blindly yaʿmahūna
And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly.
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad We seized them akhadhnāhum with the punishment bil-ʿadhābi but not famā they submit is'takānū to their Lord lirabbihim and not wamā they supplicate humbly yataḍarraʿūna
And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus]
حَتَّىٰٓ Until ḥattā when idhā We opened fataḥnā for them ʿalayhim a gate bāban of a punishment dhā of a punishment ʿadhābin severe shadīdin behold idhā They hum in it fīhi (will be in) despair mub'lisūna
Until when We have opened before them a door of severe punishment, immediately they will be therein in despair.
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa (is) the One Who alladhī produced ansha-a for you lakumu the hearing l-samʿa and the sight wal-abṣāra and the feeling wal-afidata little qalīlan (is) what mā you give thanks tashkurūna
And it is He who produced for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect]; little are you grateful.
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa (is) the One Who alladhī multiplied you dhara-akum in fī the earth l-arḍi and to Him wa-ilayhi you will be gathered tuḥ'sharūna
And it is He who has multiplied you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered.
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa (is) the One Who alladhī gives life yuḥ'yī and causes death wayumītu and for Him walahu (is the) alternation ikh'tilāfu (of) the night al-layli and the day wal-nahāri Then will not afalā you reason taʿqilūna
And it is He who gives life and causes death, and His is the alternation of the night and the day. Then will you not reason?
بَلْ Nay bal they say qālū (the) like mith'la (of) what mā said qāla the former (people) l-awalūna
Rather,1 they say like what the former peoples said.
قَالُوٓا۟ They said qālū What! When a-idhā we are dead mit'nā and become wakunnā dust turāban and bones waʿiẓāman would we a-innā surely be resurrected lamabʿūthūna
They said, "When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
لَقَدْ Verily laqad we have been promised wuʿid'nā [we] naḥnu and our forefathers waābāunā this hādhā before min before qablu not in (is) this hādhā but illā (the) tales asāṭīru (of) the former (people) l-awalīna
We have been promised this, we and our forefathers, before; this is not but legends of the former peoples."
قُل Say qul To whom (belongs) limani the earth l-arḍu and whoever waman (is) in it fīhā if in you kuntum know taʿlamūna
Say, [O Muḥammad], "To whom belongs the earth and whoever is in it, if you should know?"
سَيَقُولُونَ They will say sayaqūlūna To Allah lillahi Say qul Then will not afalā you remember tadhakkarūna
They will say, "To Allāh." Say, "Then will you not remember?"
قُلْ Say qul Who man (is the) Lord rabbu (of) the seven heavens l-samāwāti (of) the seven heavens l-sabʿi and (the) Lord warabbu (of) the Throne l-ʿarshi the Great l-ʿaẓīmi
Say, "Who is Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Great Throne?"
سَيَقُولُونَ They will say sayaqūlūna Allah lillahi Say qul Then will not afalā you fear (Him) tattaqūna
They will say, "[They belong] to Allāh." Say, "Then will you not fear Him?"
قُلْ Say qul Who is (it) man in Whose Hand(s) biyadihi (is the) dominion malakūtu (of) all kulli things shayin and He wahuwa protects yujīru and no (one) walā (can) be protected yujāru against Him ʿalayhi If in you kuntum know taʿlamūna
Say, "In whose hand is the realm of all things - and He protects while none can protect against Him - if you should know?"
سَيَقُولُونَ They will say sayaqūlūna Allah lillahi Say qul Then how fa-annā are you deluded tus'ḥarūna
They will say, "[All belongs] to Allāh." Say, "Then how are you deluded?"
بَلْ Nay bal We (have) brought them ataynāhum the truth bil-ḥaqi but indeed, they wa-innahum surely, (are) liars lakādhibūna
Rather, We have brought them the truth, and indeed they are liars.
مَا Not mā Allah has taken ittakhadha Allah has taken l-lahu any min son waladin and not wamā is kāna with Him maʿahu any min god ilāhin Then idhan surely (would have) taken away ladhahaba each kullu god ilāhin what bimā he created khalaqa and surely would have overpowered walaʿalā some of them baʿḍuhum [on] ʿalā others baʿḍin Glory be sub'ḥāna (to) Allah l-lahi above what ʿammā they attribute yaṣifūna
Allāh has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. [If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have [sought to] overcome others. Exalted is Allāh above what they describe [concerning Him].
