Al-Ĥashr

The Exile

الحشر

سَبَّحَ

Glorifies

sabbaḥa

لِلَّهِ

[to] Allah

lillahi

مَا

whatever

فِى

(is) in

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَمَا

and whatever

wamā

فِى

(is) in

ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ

the earth

l-arḍi

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

ٱلْعَزِيزُ

(is) the All-Mighty

l-ʿazīzu

ٱلْحَكِيمُ

the All-Wise

l-ḥakīmu

١

Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth exalts Allāh,1 and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

— Saheeh International

هُوَ

He

huwa

ٱلَّذِىٓ

(is) the One Who

alladhī

أَخْرَجَ

expelled

akhraja

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟

disbelieved

kafarū

مِنْ

from

min

أَهْلِ

(the) People

ahli

ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ

(of) the Scripture

l-kitābi

مِن

from

min

دِيَـٰرِهِمْ

their homes

diyārihim

لِأَوَّلِ

at (the) first

li-awwali

ٱلْحَشْرِ ۚ

gathering

l-ḥashri

مَا

Not

ظَنَنتُمْ

you think

ẓanantum

أَن

that

an

يَخْرُجُوا۟ ۖ

they would leave

yakhrujū

وَظَنُّوٓا۟

and they thought

waẓannū

أَنَّهُم

that [they]

annahum

مَّانِعَتُهُمْ

would defend them

māniʿatuhum

حُصُونُهُم

their fortresses

ḥuṣūnuhum

مِّنَ

against

mina

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

فَأَتَىٰهُمُ

But came to them

fa-atāhumu

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

مِنْ

from

min

حَيْثُ

where

ḥaythu

لَمْ

not

lam

يَحْتَسِبُوا۟ ۖ

they expected

yaḥtasibū

وَقَذَفَ

and He cast

waqadhafa

فِى

into

قُلُوبِهِمُ

their hearts

qulūbihimu

ٱلرُّعْبَ ۚ

[the] terror

l-ruʿ'ba

يُخْرِبُونَ

they destroyed

yukh'ribūna

بُيُوتَهُم

their houses

buyūtahum

بِأَيْدِيهِمْ

with their hands

bi-aydīhim

وَأَيْدِى

and the hands

wa-aydī

ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

(of) the believers

l-mu'minīna

فَٱعْتَبِرُوا۟

So take a lesson

fa-iʿ'tabirū

يَـٰٓأُو۟لِى

O those endowed

yāulī

ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ

(with) insight

l-abṣāri

٢

It is He who expelled the ones who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture1 from their homes at the first gathering.2 You did not think they would leave, and they thought that their fortresses would protect them from Allāh; but [the decree of] Allāh came upon them from where they had not expected, and He cast terror into their hearts [so] they destroyed their houses by their [own] hands and the hands of the believers. So take warning, O people of vision.

— Saheeh International

وَلَوْلَآ

And if not

walawlā

أَن

[that]

an

كَتَبَ

(had) decreed

kataba

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

عَلَيْهِمُ

for them

ʿalayhimu

ٱلْجَلَآءَ

the exile

l-jalāa

لَعَذَّبَهُمْ

certainly He (would) have punished them

laʿadhabahum

فِى

in

ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ

the world

l-dun'yā

وَلَهُمْ

and for them

walahum

فِى

in

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ

the Hereafter

l-ākhirati

عَذَابُ

(is) a punishment

ʿadhābu

ٱلنَّارِ

(of) the Fire

l-nāri

٣

And if not that Allāh had decreed for them evacuation, He would have punished them in [this] world, and for them in the Hereafter is the punishment of the Fire.

— Saheeh International

ذَٰلِكَ

That

dhālika

بِأَنَّهُمْ

(is) because [they]

bi-annahum

شَآقُّوا۟

they opposed

shāqqū

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

وَرَسُولَهُۥ ۖ

and His Messenger

warasūlahu

وَمَن

And whoever

waman

يُشَآقِّ

opposes

yushāqqi

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

فَإِنَّ

then indeed

fa-inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

شَدِيدُ

(is) severe

shadīdu

ٱلْعِقَابِ

(in) penalty

l-ʿiqābi

٤

That is because they opposed Allāh and His Messenger. And whoever opposes Allāh - then indeed, Allāh is severe in penalty.

— Saheeh International

مَا

Whatever

قَطَعْتُم

you cut down

qaṭaʿtum

مِّن

of

min

لِّينَةٍ

(the) palm-trees

līnatin

أَوْ

or

aw

تَرَكْتُمُوهَا

you left them

taraktumūhā

قَآئِمَةً

standing

qāimatan

عَلَىٰٓ

on

ʿalā

أُصُولِهَا

their roots

uṣūlihā

فَبِإِذْنِ

it (was) by the permission

fabi-idh'ni

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

وَلِيُخْزِىَ

and that He may disgrace

waliyukh'ziya

ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ

the defiantly disobedient

l-fāsiqīna

٥

Whatever you have cut down of [their] palm trees or left standing on their trunks - it was by permission of Allāh and so He would disgrace the defiantly disobedient.

— Saheeh International

وَمَآ

And what

wamā

أَفَآءَ

(was) restored

afāa

ٱللَّهُ

(by) Allah

l-lahu

عَلَىٰ

to

ʿalā

رَسُولِهِۦ

His Messenger

rasūlihi

مِنْهُمْ

from them

min'hum

فَمَآ

then not

famā

أَوْجَفْتُمْ

you made expedition

awjaftum

عَلَيْهِ

for it

ʿalayhi

مِنْ

of

min

خَيْلٍۢ

horses

khaylin

وَلَا

and not

walā

رِكَابٍۢ

camels

rikābin

وَلَـٰكِنَّ

but

walākinna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

يُسَلِّطُ

gives power

yusalliṭu

رُسُلَهُۥ

(to) His Messengers

rusulahu

عَلَىٰ

over

ʿalā

مَن

whom

man

يَشَآءُ ۚ

He wills

yashāu

وَٱللَّهُ

And Allah

wal-lahu

عَلَىٰ

(is) on

ʿalā

كُلِّ

every

kulli

شَىْءٍۢ

thing

shayin

قَدِيرٌۭ

All-Powerful

qadīrun

٦

And what Allāh restored [of property] to His Messenger from them - you did not spur for it [in an expedition] any horses or camels,1 but Allāh gives His messengers power over whom He wills, and Allāh is over all things competent.

— Saheeh International

مَّآ

What

أَفَآءَ

(was) restored

afāa

ٱللَّهُ

(by) Allah

l-lahu

عَلَىٰ

to

ʿalā

رَسُولِهِۦ

His Messenger

rasūlihi

مِنْ

from

min

أَهْلِ

(the) people

ahli

ٱلْقُرَىٰ

(of) the towns

l-qurā

فَلِلَّهِ

(it is) for Allah

falillahi

وَلِلرَّسُولِ

and His Messenger

walilrrasūli

وَلِذِى

and for those

walidhī

ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ

(of) the kindred

l-qur'bā

وَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰ

and the orphans

wal-yatāmā

وَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِ

and the needy

wal-masākīni

وَٱبْنِ

and

wa-ib'ni

ٱلسَّبِيلِ

the wayfarer

l-sabīli

كَىْ

that

kay

لَا

not

يَكُونَ

it becomes

yakūna

دُولَةًۢ

a (perpetual) circulation

dūlatan

بَيْنَ

between

bayna

ٱلْأَغْنِيَآءِ

the rich

l-aghniyāi

مِنكُمْ ۚ

among you

minkum

وَمَآ

And whatever

wamā

ءَاتَىٰكُمُ

gives you

ātākumu

ٱلرَّسُولُ

the Messenger

l-rasūlu

فَخُذُوهُ

take it

fakhudhūhu

وَمَا

and whatever

wamā

نَهَىٰكُمْ

he forbids you

nahākum

عَنْهُ

from it

ʿanhu

فَٱنتَهُوا۟ ۚ

refrain

fa-intahū

وَٱتَّقُوا۟

And fear

wa-ittaqū

ٱللَّهَ ۖ

Allah

l-laha

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

شَدِيدُ

(is) severe

shadīdu

ٱلْعِقَابِ

(in) penalty

l-ʿiqābi

٧

And what Allāh restored to His Messenger from the people of the towns - it is for Allāh and for the Messenger and for [his] near relatives1 and orphans and the needy and the [stranded] traveler2 - so that it will not be a perpetual distribution among the rich from among you. And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from. And fear Allāh; indeed, Allāh is severe in penalty.

— Saheeh International

لِلْفُقَرَآءِ

For the poor

lil'fuqarāi

ٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ

emigrants

l-muhājirīna

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

أُخْرِجُوا۟

were expelled

ukh'rijū

مِن

from

min

دِيَـٰرِهِمْ

their homes

diyārihim

وَأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ

and their properties

wa-amwālihim

يَبْتَغُونَ

seeking

yabtaghūna

فَضْلًۭا

bounty

faḍlan

مِّنَ

from

mina

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

وَرِضْوَٰنًۭا

and pleasure

wariḍ'wānan

وَيَنصُرُونَ

and helping

wayanṣurūna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ ۚ

and His Messenger

warasūlahu

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

Those

ulāika

هُمُ

they

humu

ٱلصَّـٰدِقُونَ

(are) the truthful

l-ṣādiqūna

٨

For the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their properties, seeking bounty from Allāh and [His] approval and supporting [the cause of] Allāh and His Messenger, [there is also a share]. Those are the truthful.

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ

And those who

wa-alladhīna

تَبَوَّءُو

settled

tabawwaū

ٱلدَّارَ

(in) the home

l-dāra

وَٱلْإِيمَـٰنَ

and (accepted) faith

wal-īmāna

مِن

from

min

قَبْلِهِمْ

before them

qablihim

يُحِبُّونَ

love

yuḥibbūna

مَنْ

(those) who

man

هَاجَرَ

emigrated

hājara

إِلَيْهِمْ

to them

ilayhim

وَلَا

and not

walā

يَجِدُونَ

they find

yajidūna

فِى

in

صُدُورِهِمْ

their breasts

ṣudūrihim

حَاجَةًۭ

any want

ḥājatan

مِّمَّآ

of what

mimmā

أُوتُوا۟

they were given

ūtū

وَيُؤْثِرُونَ

but prefer

wayu'thirūna

عَلَىٰٓ

over

ʿalā

أَنفُسِهِمْ

themselves

anfusihim

وَلَوْ

even though

walaw

كَانَ

was

kāna

بِهِمْ

with them

bihim

خَصَاصَةٌۭ ۚ

poverty

khaṣāṣatun

وَمَن

And whoever

waman

يُوقَ

is saved

yūqa

شُحَّ

(from) stinginess

shuḥḥa

نَفْسِهِۦ

(of) his soul

nafsihi

فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

then those

fa-ulāika

هُمُ

[they]

humu

ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

(are) the successful ones

l-muf'liḥūna

٩

And [also for] those who were settled in the Home [i.e.,al-Madīnah] and [adopted] the faith before them.1 They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want in their breasts of what they [i.e., the emigrants] were given but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful.

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ

And those who

wa-alladhīna

جَآءُو

came

jāū

مِنۢ

from

min

بَعْدِهِمْ

after them

baʿdihim

يَقُولُونَ

they say

yaqūlūna

رَبَّنَا

Our Lord

rabbanā

ٱغْفِرْ

forgive

igh'fir

لَنَا

us

lanā

وَلِإِخْوَٰنِنَا

and our brothers

wali-ikh'wāninā

ٱلَّذِينَ

who

alladhīna

سَبَقُونَا

preceded us

sabaqūnā

بِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ

in faith

bil-īmāni

وَلَا

and (do) not

walā

تَجْعَلْ

put

tajʿal

فِى

in

قُلُوبِنَا

our hearts

qulūbinā

غِلًّۭا

any rancor

ghillan

لِّلَّذِينَ

towards those who

lilladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

believed

āmanū

رَبَّنَآ

Our Lord

rabbanā

إِنَّكَ

indeed You

innaka

رَءُوفٌۭ

(are) Full of Kindness

raūfun

رَّحِيمٌ

Most Merciful

raḥīmun

١٠

And [there is a share for] those who come after them, saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful."

— Saheeh International

۞ أَلَمْ

Do not

alam

تَرَ

you see

tara

إِلَى

[to]

ilā

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

نَافَقُوا۟

(were) hypocrites

nāfaqū

يَقُولُونَ

saying

yaqūlūna

لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمُ

to their brothers

li-ikh'wānihimu

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟

disbelieved

kafarū

مِنْ

among

min

أَهْلِ

the People

ahli

ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ

(of) the Scripture

l-kitābi

لَئِنْ

If

la-in

أُخْرِجْتُمْ

you are expelled

ukh'rij'tum

لَنَخْرُجَنَّ

surely we will leave

lanakhrujanna

مَعَكُمْ

with you

maʿakum

وَلَا

and not

walā

نُطِيعُ

we will obey

nuṭīʿu

فِيكُمْ

concerning you

fīkum

أَحَدًا

anyone

aḥadan

أَبَدًۭا

ever

abadan

وَإِن

and if

wa-in

قُوتِلْتُمْ

you are fought

qūtil'tum

لَنَنصُرَنَّكُمْ

certainly we will help you

lananṣurannakum

وَٱللَّهُ

And Allah

wal-lahu

يَشْهَدُ

bears witness

yashhadu

إِنَّهُمْ

that they

innahum

لَكَـٰذِبُونَ

(are) surely liars

lakādhibūna

١١

Have you not considered those who practice hypocrisy, saying to their brothers [i.e., associates] who have disbelieved among the People of the Scripture, "If you are expelled, we will surely leave with you, and we will not obey, in regard to you, anyone - ever; and if you are fought, we will surely aid you." But Allāh testifies that they are liars.

— Saheeh International

لَئِنْ

If

la-in

أُخْرِجُوا۟

they are expelled

ukh'rijū

لَا

not

يَخْرُجُونَ

they will leave

yakhrujūna

مَعَهُمْ

with them

maʿahum

وَلَئِن

and if

wala-in

قُوتِلُوا۟

they are fought

qūtilū

لَا

not

يَنصُرُونَهُمْ

they will help them

yanṣurūnahum

وَلَئِن

And if

wala-in

نَّصَرُوهُمْ

they help them

naṣarūhum

لَيُوَلُّنَّ

certainly they will turn

layuwallunna

ٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ

(their) backs

l-adbāra

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

لَا

not

يُنصَرُونَ

they will be helped

yunṣarūna

١٢

If they are expelled, they will not leave with them, and if they are fought, they will not aid them. And [even] if they should aid them, they will surely turn their backs; then [thereafter] they will not be aided.

— Saheeh International

لَأَنتُمْ

Certainly you

la-antum

أَشَدُّ

(are) more intense

ashaddu

رَهْبَةًۭ

(in) fear

rahbatan

فِى

in

صُدُورِهِم

their breasts

ṣudūrihim

مِّنَ

than

mina

ٱللَّهِ ۚ

Allah

l-lahi

ذَٰلِكَ

That

dhālika

بِأَنَّهُمْ

(is) because they

bi-annahum

قَوْمٌۭ

(are) a people

qawmun

لَّا

(who do) not

يَفْقَهُونَ

understand

yafqahūna

١٣

You [believers] are more fearful within their breasts than Allāh. That is because they are a people who do not understand.

— Saheeh International

لَا

Not

يُقَـٰتِلُونَكُمْ

will they fight you

yuqātilūnakum

جَمِيعًا

all

jamīʿan

إِلَّا

except

illā

فِى

in

قُرًۭى

towns

quran

مُّحَصَّنَةٍ

fortified

muḥaṣṣanatin

أَوْ

or

aw

مِن

from

min

وَرَآءِ

behind

warāi

جُدُرٍۭ ۚ

walls

judurin

بَأْسُهُم

Their violence

basuhum

بَيْنَهُمْ

among themselves

baynahum

شَدِيدٌۭ ۚ

(is) severe

shadīdun

تَحْسَبُهُمْ

You think they

taḥsabuhum

جَمِيعًۭا

(are) united

jamīʿan

وَقُلُوبُهُمْ

but their hearts

waqulūbuhum

شَتَّىٰ ۚ

(are) divided

shattā

ذَٰلِكَ

That

dhālika

بِأَنَّهُمْ

(is) because they

bi-annahum

قَوْمٌۭ

(are) a people

qawmun

لَّا

not

يَعْقِلُونَ

they reason

yaʿqilūna

١٤

They will not fight you all except within fortified cities or from behind walls. Their violence [i.e., enmity] among themselves is severe. You think they are together, but their hearts are diverse. That is because they are a people who do not reason.

— Saheeh International

كَمَثَلِ

Like (the) example

kamathali

ٱلَّذِينَ

(of) those

alladhīna

مِن

from

min

قَبْلِهِمْ

before them

qablihim

قَرِيبًۭا ۖ

shortly

qarīban

ذَاقُوا۟

they tasted

dhāqū

وَبَالَ

(the) evil result

wabāla

أَمْرِهِمْ

(of) their affair

amrihim

وَلَهُمْ

and for them

walahum

عَذَابٌ

(is) a punishment

ʿadhābun

أَلِيمٌۭ

painful

alīmun

١٥

[Theirs is] like the example of those shortly before them: they tasted the bad consequence of their affair, and they will have a painful punishment.

— Saheeh International

كَمَثَلِ

Like (the) example

kamathali

ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ

(of) the Shaitaan

l-shayṭāni

إِذْ

when

قَالَ

he says

لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ

to man

lil'insāni

ٱكْفُرْ

Disbelieve

uk'fur

فَلَمَّا

But when

falammā

كَفَرَ

he disbelieves

kafara

قَالَ

he says

qāla

إِنِّى

Indeed, I am

innī

بَرِىٓءٌۭ

disassociated

barīon

مِّنكَ

from you

minka

إِنِّىٓ

Indeed, [I]

innī

أَخَافُ

I fear

akhāfu

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

رَبَّ

(the) Lord

rabba

ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

(of) the worlds

l-ʿālamīna

١٦

[The hypocrites are] like the example of Satan when he says to man, "Disbelieve." But when he disbelieves, he says, "Indeed, I am disassociated from you. Indeed, I fear Allāh, Lord of the worlds."

— Saheeh International

فَكَانَ

So will be

fakāna

عَـٰقِبَتَهُمَآ

(the) end of both of them

ʿāqibatahumā

أَنَّهُمَا

that they

annahumā

فِى

(will be) in

ٱلنَّارِ

the Fire

l-nāri

خَـٰلِدَيْنِ

abiding forever

khālidayni

فِيهَا ۚ

therein

fīhā

وَذَٰلِكَ

And that

wadhālika

جَزَٰٓؤُا۟

(is the) recompense

jazāu

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

(of) the wrongdoers

l-ẓālimīna

١٧

So the outcome for both of them is that they will be in the Fire, abiding eternally therein. And that is the recompense of the wrongdoers.

— Saheeh International

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

O

yāayyuhā

ٱلَّذِينَ

you (who)

alladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

believe

āmanū

ٱتَّقُوا۟

Fear

ittaqū

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

وَلْتَنظُرْ

and let look

waltanẓur

نَفْسٌۭ

every soul

nafsun

مَّا

what

قَدَّمَتْ

it has sent forth

qaddamat

لِغَدٍۢ ۖ

for tomorrow

lighadin

وَٱتَّقُوا۟

and fear

wa-ittaqū

ٱللَّهَ ۚ

Allah

l-laha

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

خَبِيرٌۢ

(is) All-Aware

khabīrun

بِمَا

of what

bimā

تَعْمَلُونَ

you do

taʿmalūna

١٨

O you who have believed, fear Allāh. And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow - and fear Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Aware of what you do.

— Saheeh International

وَلَا

And (do) not

walā

تَكُونُوا۟

be

takūnū

كَٱلَّذِينَ

like those who

ka-alladhīna

نَسُوا۟

forgot

nasū

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ

so He made them forget

fa-ansāhum

أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ

themselves

anfusahum

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

Those

ulāika

هُمُ

[they]

humu

ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ

(are) the defiantly disobedient

l-fāsiqūna

١٩

And be not like those who forgot Allāh, so He made them forget themselves. Those are the defiantly disobedient.

— Saheeh International

لَا

Not

يَسْتَوِىٓ

equal

yastawī

أَصْحَـٰبُ

(are the) companions

aṣḥābu

ٱلنَّارِ

(of) the Fire

l-nāri

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ

and (the) companions

wa-aṣḥābu

ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۚ

(of) Paradise

l-janati

أَصْحَـٰبُ

(The) companions

aṣḥābu

ٱلْجَنَّةِ

(of) Paradise

l-janati

هُمُ

they

humu

ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ

(are) the achievers

l-fāizūna

٢٠

Not equal are the companions of the Fire and the companions of Paradise. The companions of Paradise - they are the attainers [of success].

— Saheeh International

لَوْ

If

law

أَنزَلْنَا

We (had) sent down

anzalnā

هَـٰذَا

this

hādhā

ٱلْقُرْءَانَ

Quran

l-qur'āna

عَلَىٰ

on

ʿalā

جَبَلٍۢ

a mountain

jabalin

لَّرَأَيْتَهُۥ

surely you (would) have seen it

lara-aytahu

خَـٰشِعًۭا

humbled

khāshiʿan

مُّتَصَدِّعًۭا

breaking asunder

mutaṣaddiʿan

مِّنْ

from

min

خَشْيَةِ

(the) fear

khashyati

ٱللَّهِ ۚ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

وَتِلْكَ

And these

watil'ka

ٱلْأَمْثَـٰلُ

examples

l-amthālu

نَضْرِبُهَا

We present them

naḍribuhā

لِلنَّاسِ

to the people

lilnnāsi

لَعَلَّهُمْ

so that they may

laʿallahum

يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

give thought

yatafakkarūna

٢١

If We had sent down this Qur’ān upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and splitting from fear of Allāh. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought.

— Saheeh International

هُوَ

He

huwa

ٱللَّهُ

(is) Allah

l-lahu

ٱلَّذِى

the One Who

alladhī

لَآ

(there is) no

إِلَـٰهَ

god

ilāha

إِلَّا

but

illā

هُوَ ۖ

He

huwa

عَـٰلِمُ

(the) All-Knower

ʿālimu

ٱلْغَيْبِ

(of) the unseen

l-ghaybi

وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ۖ

and the witnessed

wal-shahādati

هُوَ

He

huwa

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ

(is) the Most Gracious

l-raḥmānu

ٱلرَّحِيمُ

the Most Merciful

l-raḥīmu

٢٢

He is Allāh, other than whom there is no deity, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed.1 He is the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

— Saheeh International

هُوَ

He

huwa

ٱللَّهُ

(is) Allah

l-lahu

ٱلَّذِى

the One Who

alladhī

لَآ

(there is) no

إِلَـٰهَ

god

ilāha

إِلَّا

but

illā

هُوَ

He

huwa

ٱلْمَلِكُ

the Sovereign

l-maliku

ٱلْقُدُّوسُ

the Holy One

l-qudūsu

ٱلسَّلَـٰمُ

the Giver of Peace

l-salāmu

ٱلْمُؤْمِنُ

the Giver of Security

l-mu'minu

ٱلْمُهَيْمِنُ

the Guardian

l-muhayminu

ٱلْعَزِيزُ

the All-Mighty

l-ʿazīzu

ٱلْجَبَّارُ

the Irresistible

l-jabāru

ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرُ ۚ

the Supreme

l-mutakabiru

سُبْحَـٰنَ

Glory (be to)

sub'ḥāna

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

عَمَّا

from what

ʿammā

يُشْرِكُونَ

they associate (with Him)

yush'rikūna

٢٣

He is Allāh, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign,1 the Pure,2 the Perfection,3 the Grantor of Security,4 the Overseer,5 the Exalted in Might,6 the Compeller,7 the Superior.8 Exalted is Allāh above whatever they associate with Him.

— Saheeh International

هُوَ

He

huwa

ٱللَّهُ

(is) Allah

l-lahu

ٱلْخَـٰلِقُ

the Creator

l-khāliqu

ٱلْبَارِئُ

the Inventor

l-bāri-u

ٱلْمُصَوِّرُ ۖ

the Fashioner

l-muṣawiru

لَهُ

For Him

lahu

ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ

(are) the names

l-asmāu

ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ

the beautiful

l-ḥus'nā

يُسَبِّحُ

Glorifies

yusabbiḥu

لَهُۥ

Him

lahu

مَا

whatever

فِى

(is) in

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ

and the earth

wal-arḍi

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

ٱلْعَزِيزُ

(is) the All-Mighty

l-ʿazīzu

ٱلْحَكِيمُ

the All-Wise

l-ḥakīmu

٢٤

He is Allāh, the Creator,1 the Producer,2 the Fashioner;3 to Him belong the best names.4 Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.5
