وَإِذْ And when wa-idh took akhadha Allah l-lahu a Covenant mīthāqa (from) those who alladhīna were given ūtū the Book l-kitāba You certainly make it clear latubayyinunnahu to the mankind lilnnāsi and (do) not walā conceal it taktumūnahu Then they threw it fanabadhūhu behind warāa their backs ẓuhūrihim and they exchanged wa-ish'taraw [with] it bihi (for) a price thamanan little qalīlan And wretched fabi'sa (is) what mā they purchase yashtarūna
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Allāh took a covenant from those who were given the Scripture, [saying], "You must make it clear [i.e., explain it] to the people and not conceal it." But they threw it away behind their backs and exchanged it for a small price. And wretched is that which they purchased.
لَا (Do) not lā think taḥsabanna (that) those who alladhīna rejoice yafraḥūna in what bimā (they have) brought ataw and they love wayuḥibbūna that an they be praised yuḥ'madū for what bimā not lam they do yafʿalū so (do) not falā think (that) they taḥsabannahum (will) escape bimafāzatin from mina the punishment l-ʿadhābi and for them walahum (is a) punishment ʿadhābun painful alīmun
And never think that those who rejoice in what they have perpetrated and like to be praised for what they did not do - never think them [to be] in safety from the punishment, and for them is a painful punishment.
وَلِلَّهِ And for Allah walillahi (is the) dominion mul'ku (of) the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi and Allah wal-lahu (is) on ʿalā every kulli thing shayin All-Powerful qadīrun
And to Allāh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Allāh is over all things competent.
إِنَّ Indeed inna in fī (the) creation khalqi (of) the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi and (in the) alternation wa-ikh'tilāfi (of) the night al-layli and the day wal-nahāri (are) surely Signs laāyātin for men li-ulī (of) understanding l-albābi
Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding -
ٱلَّذِينَ Those who alladhīna remember yadhkurūna Allah l-laha standing qiyāman and sitting waquʿūdan and on waʿalā their sides junūbihim and they reflect wayatafakkarūna on fī (the) creation khalqi (of) the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi Our Lord rabbanā not mā You have created khalaqta this hādhā (in) vain bāṭilan Glory be to You sub'ḥānaka so save us faqinā (from the) punishment ʿadhāba (of) the Fire l-nāri
Who remember Allāh while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], "Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
رَبَّنَآ Our Lord rabbanā indeed [You] innaka whom man You admit tud'khili (to) the Fire l-nāra then surely faqad You (have) disgraced him akhzaytahu and not wamā for the wrongdoers lilẓẓālimīna (are) any min helpers anṣārin
Our Lord, indeed whoever You admit to the Fire - You have disgraced him, and for the wrongdoers there are no helpers.
رَّبَّنَآ Our Lord rabbanā indeed we innanā [we] heard samiʿ'nā a caller munādiyan calling yunādī to the faith lil'īmāni that an Believe āminū in your Lord birabbikum so we have believed faāmannā Our Lord rabbanā so forgive fa-igh'fir for us lanā our sins dhunūbanā and remove wakaffir from us ʿannā our evil deeds sayyiātinā and cause us to die watawaffanā with maʿa the righteous l-abrāri
Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)] calling to faith, [saying], 'Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord, so forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die among the righteous.
رَبَّنَا Our Lord rabbanā grant us waātinā what mā You promised us waʿadttanā through ʿalā Your Messengers rusulika and (do) not walā disgrace us tukh'zinā (on the) Day yawma (of) [the] Resurrection l-qiyāmati Indeed, You innaka (do) not lā break tukh'lifu the promise l-mīʿāda
Our Lord, and grant us what You promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not fail in [Your] promise."
