لَّقَدْ Certainly laqad heard samiʿa Allah l-lahu (the) saying qawla (of) those who alladhīna said qālū Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is) poor faqīrun while we wanaḥnu (are) rich aghniyāu We will record sanaktubu what mā they said qālū and their killing waqatlahumu the Prophets l-anbiyāa without bighayri (any) right ḥaqqin and We will say wanaqūlu Taste dhūqū (the) punishment ʿadhāba (of) the Burning Fire l-ḥarīqi
Allāh has certainly heard the statement of those [Jews] who said, "Indeed, Allāh is poor, while we are rich." We will record what they said and their killing of the prophets without right and will say, "Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire.
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika (is) because bimā (of what) sent forth qaddamat your hands aydīkum and that wa-anna Allah l-laha is not laysa unjust biẓallāmin to (His) slaves lil'ʿabīdi
That is for what your hands have put forth and because Allāh is not ever unjust to [His] servants."
ٱلَّذِينَ Those who alladhīna said qālū Indeed inna Allah l-laha (has) taken promise ʿahida from us ilaynā that not allā we (should) believe nu'mina in a Messenger lirasūlin until ḥattā he brings to us yatiyanā a sacrifice biqur'bānin consumes it takuluhu the fire l-nāru Say qul Surely qad came to you jāakum Messengers rusulun from min before me qablī with the clear Signs bil-bayināti and with what wabi-alladhī you speak qul'tum So why falima you killed them qataltumūhum if in you are kuntum truthful ṣādiqīna
[They are] those who said, "Indeed, Allāh has taken our promise not to believe any messenger until he brings us an offering which fire [from heaven] will consume." Say, "There have already come to you messengers before me with clear proofs and [even] that of which you speak. So why did you kill them, if you should be truthful?"
فَإِن Then if fa-in they reject you kadhabūka then certainly faqad were rejected kudhiba Messengers rusulun from min before you qablika (who) came jāū with the clear Signs bil-bayināti and the Scriptures wal-zuburi and the Book wal-kitābi [the] Enlightening l-munīri
Then if they deny you, [O Muḥammad] - so were messengers denied before you, who brought clear proofs and written ordinances and the enlightening Scripture.1
كُلُّ Every kullu soul nafsin (will) taste dhāiqatu [the] death l-mawti and only wa-innamā you will be paid in full tuwaffawna your reward ujūrakum (on the) Day yawma (of) [the] Resurrection l-qiyāmati Then whoever faman is drawn away zuḥ'ziḥa from ʿani the Fire l-nāri and admitted wa-ud'khila (to) Paradise l-janata then surely faqad he is successful fāza And not wamā (is) the life l-ḥayatu (of) the world l-dun'yā except illā enjoyment matāʿu (of) delusion l-ghurūri
Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion.
۞ لَتُبْلَوُنَّ You will certainly be tested latub'lawunna in fī your wealth amwālikum and yourselves wa-anfusikum And you will certainly hear walatasmaʿunna from mina those who alladhīna were given ūtū the Book l-kitāba from min before you qablikum and from wamina those who alladhīna associate partners with Allah ashrakū hurtful things adhan many kathīran and if wa-in you are patient taṣbirū and fear (Allah) watattaqū then indeed fa-inna that dhālika (is) of min the matters ʿazmi (of) determination l-umūri
You will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allāh much abuse. But if you are patient and fear Allāh - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of resolve.
