إِذْ When idh inclined hammat two parties ṭāifatāni among you minkum that an they lost heart tafshalā but Allah wal-lahu (was) their protector waliyyuhumā And on waʿalā Allah l-lahi let put (their) trust falyatawakkali the believers l-mu'minūna
When two parties among you were about to lose courage, but Allāh was their ally; and upon Allāh the believers should rely.
وَلَقَدْ And certainly walaqad helped you naṣarakumu Allah l-lahu in Badr bibadrin while you (were) wa-antum weak adhillatun So fear fa-ittaqū Allah l-laha so that you may laʿallakum (be) grateful tashkurūna
And already had Allāh given you victory at [the battle of] Badr while you were weak [i.e., few in number]. Then fear Allāh; perhaps you will be grateful.
إِذْ When idh you said taqūlu to the believers lil'mu'minīna Is it not alan enough for you yakfiyakum that an reinforces you yumiddakum your Lord rabbukum with three bithalāthati thousand[s] ālāfin [of] mina [the] Angels l-malāikati [the ones] sent down munzalīna
[Remember] when you said to the believers, "Is it not sufficient for you that your Lord should reinforce you with three thousand angels sent down?
بَلَىٰٓ ۚ Yes balā if in you are patient taṣbirū and fear (Allah) watattaqū and they come upon you wayatūkum [of] min suddenly fawrihim [this] hādhā will reinforce you yum'did'kum your Lord rabbukum with five bikhamsati thousand[s] ālāfin [of] mina [the] Angels l-malāikati [the ones] having marks musawwimīna
Yes, if you remain patient and conscious of Allāh and they [i.e., the enemy] come upon you [attacking] in rage, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels having marks [of distinction]."
وَمَا And not wamā made it jaʿalahu Allah l-lahu except illā (as) good news bush'rā for you lakum and to reassure walitaṭma-inna your hearts qulūbukum with it bihi And (there is) no wamā [the] victory l-naṣru except illā from min [near] ʿindi Allah l-lahi the All-Mighty l-ʿazīzi the All-Wise l-ḥakīmi
And Allāh made it not except as [a sign of] good tidings for you and to reassure your hearts thereby. And victory is not except from Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Wise -
لِيَقْطَعَ That He may cut off liyaqṭaʿa a part ṭarafan of mina those who alladhīna disbelieved kafarū or aw suppress them yakbitahum so (that) they turn back fayanqalibū disappointed khāibīna
That He might cut down a section of the disbelievers or suppress them so that they turn back disappointed.
لَيْسَ Not laysa for you laka of mina the decision l-amri (of) anything shayon whether aw He turns yatūba to them ʿalayhim or aw punishes them yuʿadhibahum for indeed, they fa-innahum (are) wrongdoers ẓālimūna
Not for you, [O Muḥammad, but for Allāh], is the decision whether He should [cut them down] or forgive them or punish them, for indeed, they are wrongdoers.
وَلِلَّهِ And to Allah (belongs) walillahi what mā (is) in fī the heavens l-samāwāti and what wamā (is) in fī the earth l-arḍi He forgives yaghfiru [for] whom liman He wills yashāu and punishes wayuʿadhibu whom man He wills yashāu And Allah wal-lahu (is) Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun Most Merciful raḥīmun
And to Allāh belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you yāayyuhā who alladhīna believe āmanū (Do) not lā eat takulū the usury l-riba doubled aḍʿāfan multiplied muḍāʿafatan And fear wa-ittaqū Allah l-laha so that you may laʿallakum (be) successful tuf'liḥūna
O you who have believed, do not consume usury, doubled and multiplied, but fear Allāh that you may be successful.
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ And fear wa-ittaqū the Fire l-nāra which allatī is prepared uʿiddat for the disbelievers lil'kāfirīna
And fear the Fire, which has been prepared for the disbelievers.
وَأَطِيعُوا۟ And obey wa-aṭīʿū Allah l-laha and the Messenger wal-rasūla so that you may laʿallakum receive mercy tur'ḥamūna
And obey Allāh and the Messenger that you may obtain mercy.
