وَكَيْفَ And how (could) wakayfa you disbelieve takfurūna while [you] wa-antum is recited tut'lā upon you ʿalaykum (the) Verses āyātu (of) Allah l-lahi and among you wafīkum (is) His Messenger rasūluhu And whoever waman holds firmly yaʿtaṣim to Allah bil-lahi then surely faqad he is guided hudiya to ilā a path ṣirāṭin straight mus'taqīmin
And how could you disbelieve while to you are being recited the verses of Allāh and among you is His Messenger? And whoever holds firmly to Allāh1 has [indeed] been guided to a straight path.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you yāayyuhā who alladhīna believe[d] āmanū Fear ittaqū Allah l-laha (as is His) right ḥaqqa (that) He (should) be feared tuqātihi and (do) not walā die tamūtunna except illā [while you] wa-antum (as) Muslims mus'limūna
O you who have believed, fear Allāh as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].
وَٱعْتَصِمُوا۟ And hold firmly wa-iʿ'taṣimū to (the) rope biḥabli (of) Allah l-lahi all together jamīʿan and (do) not walā be divided tafarraqū And remember wa-udh'kurū (the) Favor niʿ'mata (of) Allah l-lahi on you ʿalaykum when idh you were kuntum enemies aʿdāan then He made friendship fa-allafa between bayna your hearts qulūbikum then you became fa-aṣbaḥtum by His Favor biniʿ'matihi brothers ikh'wānan And you were wakuntum on ʿalā (the) brink shafā (of) pit ḥuf'ratin of mina the Fire l-nāri then He saved you fa-anqadhakum from it min'hā Thus kadhālika makes clear yubayyinu Allah l-lahu for you lakum His Verses āyātihi so that you may laʿallakum (be) guided tahtadūna
And hold firmly to the rope1 of Allāh all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allāh upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allāh make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.
وَلْتَكُن And let there be waltakun among you minkum [a] people ummatun inviting yadʿūna to ilā the good l-khayri [and] enjoining wayamurūna the right bil-maʿrūfi and forbidding wayanhawna from ʿani the wrong l-munkari and those wa-ulāika they humu (are) the successful ones l-muf'liḥūna
And let there be [arising] from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong,1 and those will be the successful.
وَلَا And (do) not walā be takūnū like those who ka-alladhīna became divided tafarraqū and differed wa-ikh'talafū from min after baʿdi what mā came to them jāahumu the clear proofs l-bayinātu And those wa-ulāika for them lahum (is) a punishment ʿadhābun great ʿaẓīmun
And do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great punishment
يَوْمَ (On the) Day yawma would become white tabyaḍḍu (some) faces wujūhun and would become black wataswaddu (some) faces wujūhun As for fa-ammā those whose alladhīna turn black is'waddat [their] faces wujūhuhum Did you disbelieve akafartum after baʿda your belief īmānikum Then taste fadhūqū the punishment l-ʿadhāba for what bimā you used to kuntum disbelieve takfurūna
On the Day [some] faces will turn white and [some] faces will turn black. As for those whose faces turn black, [to them it will be said], "Did you disbelieve [i.e., reject faith] after your belief? Then taste the punishment for what you used to reject."
وَأَمَّا But as for wa-ammā those whose alladhīna turn white ib'yaḍḍat [their] faces wujūhuhum then (they will be) in fafī (the) Mercy raḥmati (of) Allah l-lahi they hum in it fīhā (will) abide forever khālidūna
But as for those whose faces turn white, [they will be] within the mercy of Allāh. They will abide therein eternally.

These are the verses of Allāh. We recite them to you, [O Muḥammad], in truth; and Allāh wants no injustice to the worlds [i.e., His creatures].
