The Declining Day

العصر
إِنَّ Indeed inna mankind l-insāna (is) surely, in lafī loss khus'rin
Indeed, mankind is in loss,
إِلَّا Except illā those who alladhīna believe āmanū and do waʿamilū righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti and enjoin (each other) watawāṣaw to the truth bil-ḥaqi and enjoin (each other) watawāṣaw to [the] patience bil-ṣabri
Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.
Al-Humazah
The Traducer

الهمزة
وَيْلٌۭ Woe waylun to every likulli slanderer humazatin backbiter lumazatin
Woe to every scorner and mocker
ٱلَّذِى The one who alladhī collects jamaʿa wealth mālan and counts it waʿaddadahu
Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it.1
يَحْسَبُ Thinking yaḥsabu that anna his wealth mālahu will make him immortal akhladahu
He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.
كَلَّا ۖ Nay kallā Surely he will be thrown layunbadhanna in fī the Crusher l-ḥuṭamati
No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher.1
وَمَآ And what wamā will make you know adrāka what mā the Crusher (is) l-ḥuṭamatu
And what can make you know what is the Crusher?
نَارُ A Fire nāru Allah l-lahi kindled l-mūqadatu
It is the fire of Allāh, [eternally] fueled,
ٱلَّتِى Which allatī mounts up taṭṭaliʿu to ʿalā the hearts l-afidati
Which mounts directed at the hearts.1
إِنَّهَا Indeed, it innahā (will be) upon them ʿalayhim closed over mu'ṣadatun
Indeed, it [i.e., Hellfire] will be closed down upon them
Al-Fīl
The Elephant
﷽
الفيل
أَلَمْ Have not alam you seen tara how kayfa dealt faʿala your Lord rabbuka with (the) Companions bi-aṣḥābi (of the) Elephant l-fīli
Have you not considered, [O Muḥammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?1
أَلَمْ Did not alam He make yajʿal their plan kaydahum go fī astray taḍlīlin
Did He not make their plan into misguidance?1
وَأَرْسَلَ And He sent wa-arsala against them ʿalayhim birds ṭayran (in) flocks abābīla
And He sent against them birds in flocks,
تَرْمِيهِم Striking them tarmīhim with stones biḥijāratin of min baked clay sijjīlin
Striking them with stones of hard clay,
فَجَعَلَهُمْ Then He made them fajaʿalahum like straw kaʿaṣfin eaten up makūlin
And He made them like eaten straw.1
