وَحُصِّلَ And is made apparent waḥuṣṣila what mā (is) in fī the breasts l-ṣudūri
And that within the breasts is obtained,1
إِنَّ Indeed inna their Lord rabbahum about them bihim that Day yawma-idhin (is) surely All-Aware lakhabīrun
Indeed, their Lord with them, that Day, is [fully] Aware.1
Al-Qāri`ah
The Calamity
﷽
القارعة
مَا What mā (is) the Striking Calamity l-qāriʿatu
What is the Striking Calamity?
وَمَآ And what wamā will make you know adrāka what mā (is) the Striking Calamity l-qāriʿatu
And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?
يَوْمَ (The) Day yawma will be yakūnu the mankind l-nāsu like moths kal-farāshi scattered l-mabthūthi
It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,1
وَتَكُونُ And will be watakūnu the mountains l-jibālu like wool kal-ʿih'ni fluffed up l-manfūshi
And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.1
فَأَمَّا Then as for fa-ammā (him) whose man (are) heavy thaqulat his scales mawāzīnuhu
Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],
فَهُوَ Then he fahuwa (will be) in fī a life ʿīshatin pleasant rāḍiyatin
He will be in a pleasant life.
وَأَمَّا But as for wa-ammā (him) whose man (are) light khaffat his scales mawāzīnuhu
But as for one whose scales are light,
فَأُمُّهُۥ His abode fa-ummuhu (will be the) Pit hāwiyatun
His refuge1 will be an abyss.2
وَمَآ And what wamā will make you know adrāka what mā it is hiyah
And what can make you know what that is?
At-Takāthur
The Rivalry in world increase
﷽
التكاثر
أَلْهَىٰكُمُ Diverts you alhākumu the competition to increase l-takāthuru
Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you
حَتَّىٰ Until ḥattā you visit zur'tumu the graves l-maqābira
Until you visit the graveyards.1
كَلَّا Nay kallā Soon sawfa you will know taʿlamūna
No! You are going to know.
ثُمَّ Then thumma nay kallā Soon sawfa you will know taʿlamūna
Then, no! You are going to know.
كَلَّا Nay kallā If law you know taʿlamūna (with) a knowledge ʿil'ma (of) certainty l-yaqīni
No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty...1
لَتَرَوُنَّ Surely you will see latarawunna the Hellfire l-jaḥīma
You will surely see the Hellfire.
ثُمَّ Then thumma surely you will see it latarawunnahā (with the) eye ʿayna (of) certainty l-yaqīni
Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.1
ثُمَّ Then thumma surely you will be asked latus'alunna that Day yawma-idhin about ʿani the pleasures l-naʿīmi
Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.1
