رَبَّنَآ Our Lord rabbanā we believe[d] āmannā in what bimā You revealed anzalta and we follow[ed] wa-ittabaʿnā the Messenger l-rasūla then write us fa-uk'tub'nā among maʿa the witnesses l-shāhidīna
Our Lord, we have believed in what You revealed and have followed the messenger [i.e., Jesus], so register us among the witnesses [to truth]."
وَمَكَرُوا۟ And they schemed wamakarū and planned wamakara Allah l-lahu And Allah wal-lahu (is the) best khayru (of) the planners l-mākirīna
And they [i.e., the disbelievers] planned, but Allāh planned. And Allāh is the best of planners.
إِذْ When idh said qāla Allah l-lahu O Isa yāʿīsā Indeed, I innī (will) take you mutawaffīka and raise you warāfiʿuka to Myself ilayya and purify you wamuṭahhiruka from mina those who alladhīna disbelieve[d] kafarū and I will make wajāʿilu those who alladhīna follow[ed] you ittabaʿūka superior fawqa (to) those who alladhīna disbelieve[d] kafarū on ilā (the) Day yawmi (of) [the] Resurrection l-qiyāmati Then thumma to Me ilayya (is) your return marjiʿukum and I will judge fa-aḥkumu between you baynakum about what fīmā you were kuntum [in it] fīhi differing takhtalifūna
[Mention] when Allāh said, "O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify [i.e., free] you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to Allāh alone] superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ.
فَأَمَّا Then as for fa-ammā those who alladhīna disbelieve[d] kafarū then I will punish them fa-uʿadhibuhum (with) a punishment ʿadhāban severe shadīdan in fī the world l-dun'yā and (in) the Hereafter wal-ākhirati And not wamā for them lahum any min helpers nāṣirīna
And as for those who disbelieved, I will punish them with a severe punishment in this world and the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers."
وَأَمَّا And as for wa-ammā those who alladhīna believe[d] āmanū and did waʿamilū [the] righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti then He will grant them in full fayuwaffīhim their reward ujūrahum And Allah wal-lahu (does) not lā love yuḥibbu the wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna
But as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will give them in full their rewards, and Allāh does not like the wrongdoers.
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika (is what) We recite [it] natlūhu to you ʿalayka of mina the Verses l-āyāti and the Reminder wal-dhik'ri [the] Wise l-ḥakīmi
This is what We recite to you, [O Muḥammad], of [Our] verses and the precise [and wise] message [i.e., the Qur’ān].
إِنَّ Indeed inna (the) likeness mathala (of) Isa ʿīsā near ʿinda Allah l-lahi (is) like (the) likeness kamathali (of) Adam ādama He created him khalaqahu from min dust turābin then thumma He said qāla to him lahu Be kun and he was fayakūnu
Indeed, the example of Jesus to Allāh1 is like that of Adam. He created him from dust; then He said to him, "Be," and he was.
ٱلْحَقُّ The truth al-ḥaqu (is) from min your Lord rabbika so (do) not falā be takun among mina the doubters l-mum'tarīna
The truth is from your Lord, so do not be among the doubters.
فَمَنْ Then whoever faman argues (with) you ḥājjaka concerning it fīhi from min after baʿdi what mā came to you jāaka of mina the knowledge l-ʿil'mi then say faqul Come taʿālaw let us call nadʿu our sons abnāanā and your sons wa-abnāakum and our women wanisāanā and your women wanisāakum and ourselves wa-anfusanā and yourselves wa-anfusakum then thumma let us pray humbly nabtahil and [we] invoke fanajʿal the curse laʿnata (of) Allah l-lahi on ʿalā the liars l-kādhibīna
Then whoever argues with you about it after [this] knowledge has come to you - say, "Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves, then supplicate earnestly [together] and invoke the curse of Allāh upon the liars [among us]."
