ثُمَّ

Then

thumma

إِنَّكُمْ

indeed you

innakum

أَيُّهَا

O those astray

ayyuhā

ٱلضَّآلُّونَ

O those astray

l-ḍālūna

ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ

the deniers

l-mukadhibūna

٥١

Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers,

— Saheeh International

لَـَٔاكِلُونَ

Will surely eat

laākilūna

مِن

from

min

شَجَرٍۢ

(the) tree

shajarin

مِّن

of

min

زَقُّومٍۢ

Zaqqum

zaqqūmin

٥٢

Will be eating from trees of zaqqūm

— Saheeh International

فَمَالِـُٔونَ

Then will fill

famāliūna

مِنْهَا

with it

min'hā

ٱلْبُطُونَ

the bellies

l-buṭūna

٥٣

And filling with it your bellies

— Saheeh International

فَشَـٰرِبُونَ

And drink

fashāribūna

عَلَيْهِ

over it

ʿalayhi

مِنَ

[from]

mina

ٱلْحَمِيمِ

the scalding water

l-ḥamīmi

٥٤

And drinking on top of it from scalding water.

— Saheeh International

فَشَـٰرِبُونَ

And will drink

fashāribūna

شُرْبَ

(as) drinking

shur'ba

ٱلْهِيمِ

(of) the thirsty camels

l-hīmi

٥٥

And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels.

— Saheeh International

هَـٰذَا

This

hādhā

نُزُلُهُمْ

(is) their hospitality

nuzuluhum

يَوْمَ

(on the) Day

yawma

ٱلدِّينِ

(of) Judgment

l-dīni

٥٦

That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense.

— Saheeh International

نَحْنُ

We

naḥnu

خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ

[We] created you

khalaqnākum

فَلَوْلَا

so why (do) not

falawlā

تُصَدِّقُونَ

you admit the truth

tuṣaddiqūna

٥٧

We have created you, so why do you not believe?

— Saheeh International

أَفَرَءَيْتُم

Do you see

afara-aytum

مَّا

what

تُمْنُونَ

you emit

tum'nūna

٥٨

Have you seen that which you emit?1

— Saheeh International

ءَأَنتُمْ

Is it you

a-antum

تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ

who create it

takhluqūnahu

أَمْ

or

am

نَحْنُ

(are) We

naḥnu

ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ

the Creators

l-khāliqūna

٥٩

Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?

— Saheeh International

نَحْنُ

We

naḥnu

قَدَّرْنَا

[We] have decreed

qaddarnā

بَيْنَكُمُ

among you

baynakumu

ٱلْمَوْتَ

the death

l-mawta

وَمَا

and not

wamā

نَحْنُ

We

naḥnu

بِمَسْبُوقِينَ

(are) outrun

bimasbūqīna

٦٠

We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone

— Saheeh International

عَلَىٰٓ

In

ʿalā

أَن

that

an

نُّبَدِّلَ

We (will) change

nubaddila

أَمْثَـٰلَكُمْ

your likeness[es]

amthālakum

وَنُنشِئَكُمْ

and produce you

wanunshi-akum

فِى

in

مَا

what

لَا

not

تَعْلَمُونَ

you know

taʿlamūna

٦١

In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.1

— Saheeh International

وَلَقَدْ

And certainly

walaqad

عَلِمْتُمُ

you know

ʿalim'tumu

ٱلنَّشْأَةَ

the creation

l-nashata

ٱلْأُولَىٰ

the first

l-ūlā

فَلَوْلَا

so why not

falawlā

تَذَكَّرُونَ

you take heed

tadhakkarūna

٦٢

And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember?

— Saheeh International

أَفَرَءَيْتُم

And do you see

afara-aytum

مَّا

what

تَحْرُثُونَ

you sow

taḥruthūna

٦٣

And have you seen that [seed] which you sow?

— Saheeh International

ءَأَنتُمْ

Is it you (who)

a-antum

تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ

cause it to grow

tazraʿūnahu

أَمْ

or

am

نَحْنُ

(are) We

naḥnu

ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ

the Ones Who grow

l-zāriʿūna

٦٤

Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?

— Saheeh International

لَوْ

If

law

نَشَآءُ

We willed

nashāu

لَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ

We (would) surely, make it

lajaʿalnāhu

حُطَـٰمًۭا

debris

ḥuṭāman

فَظَلْتُمْ

then you would remain

faẓaltum

تَفَكَّهُونَ

wondering

tafakkahūna

٦٥

If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder,1

— Saheeh International

إِنَّا

Indeed, we

innā

لَمُغْرَمُونَ

surely are laden with debt

lamugh'ramūna

٦٦

[Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt;

— Saheeh International

بَلْ

Nay

bal

نَحْنُ

we

naḥnu

مَحْرُومُونَ

(are) deprived

maḥrūmūna

٦٧

Rather, we have been deprived."

— Saheeh International

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ

Do you see

afara-aytumu

ٱلْمَآءَ

the water

l-māa

ٱلَّذِى

which

alladhī

تَشْرَبُونَ

you drink

tashrabūna

٦٨

And have you seen the water that you drink?

— Saheeh International

ءَأَنتُمْ

Is it you

a-antum

أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ

who send it down

anzaltumūhu

مِنَ

from

mina

ٱلْمُزْنِ

the rain clouds

l-muz'ni

أَمْ

or

am

نَحْنُ

We

naḥnu

ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ

(are) the Ones to send

l-munzilūna

٦٩

Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?

— Saheeh International

لَوْ

If

law

نَشَآءُ

We willed

nashāu

جَعَلْنَـٰهُ

We (could) make it

jaʿalnāhu

أُجَاجًۭا

salty

ujājan

فَلَوْلَا

then why are you not grateful

falawlā

تَشْكُرُونَ

then why are you not grateful

tashkurūna

٧٠

If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?

— Saheeh International

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ

Do you see

afara-aytumu

ٱلنَّارَ

the Fire

l-nāra

ٱلَّتِى

which

allatī

تُورُونَ

you ignite

tūrūna

٧١

And have you seen the fire that you ignite?

— Saheeh International

ءَأَنتُمْ

Is it you

a-antum

أَنشَأْتُمْ

who produced

anshatum

شَجَرَتَهَآ

its tree

shajaratahā

أَمْ

or

am

نَحْنُ

We

naḥnu

ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ

(are) the Producers

l-munshiūna

٧٢

Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?

— Saheeh International

نَحْنُ

We

naḥnu

جَعَلْنَـٰهَا

have made it

jaʿalnāhā

تَذْكِرَةًۭ

a reminder

tadhkiratan

وَمَتَـٰعًۭا

and a provision

wamatāʿan

لِّلْمُقْوِينَ

for the wayfarers in the desert

lil'muq'wīna

٧٣

We have made it a reminder1 and provision for the travelers,2

— Saheeh International

فَسَبِّحْ

So glorify

fasabbiḥ

بِٱسْمِ

(the) name

bi-is'mi

رَبِّكَ

(of) your Lord

rabbika

ٱلْعَظِيمِ

the Most Great

l-ʿaẓīmi

٧٤

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

— Saheeh International

۞ فَلَآ

But nay

falā

أُقْسِمُ

I swear

uq'simu

بِمَوَٰقِعِ

by setting

bimawāqiʿi

ٱلنُّجُومِ

(of) the stars

l-nujūmi

٧٥

Then I swear by the setting of the stars,1

— Saheeh International

وَإِنَّهُۥ

And indeed, it

wa-innahu

لَقَسَمٌۭ

(is) surely an oath

laqasamun

لَّوْ

if

law

تَعْلَمُونَ

you know

taʿlamūna

عَظِيمٌ

great

ʿaẓīmun

٧٦

And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great.

— Saheeh International
