فِيهِمَا In both of them fīhimā (are) fruits fākihatun and date-palms wanakhlun and pomegranates warummānun
In both of them are fruit and palm trees and pomegranates.
فَبِأَىِّ So which fabi-ayyi (of the) favors ālāi (of) your Lord rabbikumā will you both deny tukadhibāni
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
فِيهِنَّ In them fīhinna (are) good khayrātun and beautiful ones ḥisānun
In them are good and beautiful women -
فَبِأَىِّ So which fabi-ayyi (of the) favors ālāi (of) your Lord rabbikumā will you both deny tukadhibāni
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
حُورٌۭ Fair ones ḥūrun restrained maqṣūrātun in fī the pavilions l-khiyāmi
Fair ones reserved in pavilions -
فَبِأَىِّ So which fabi-ayyi (of the) favors ālāi (of) your Lord rabbikumā will you both deny tukadhibāni
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
لَمْ Not lam has touched them yaṭmith'hunna any man insun before them qablahum and not walā any jinn jānnun
Untouched before them by man or jinnī -
فَبِأَىِّ So which fabi-ayyi (of the) favors ālāi (of) your Lord rabbikumā will you both deny tukadhibāni
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ Reclining muttakiīna on ʿalā cushions rafrafin green khuḍ'rin and carpets waʿabqariyyin beautiful ḥisānin
Reclining on green cushions and beautiful fine carpets.
فَبِأَىِّ So which fabi-ayyi (of the) favors ālāi (of) your Lord rabbikumā will you both deny tukadhibāni
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
تَبَـٰرَكَ Blessed is tabāraka (the) name us'mu (of) your Lord rabbika Owner dhī (of) Majesty l-jalāli and Honor wal-ik'rāmi
Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.

The Inevitable

الواقعة
إِذَا When idhā occurs waqaʿati the Event l-wāqiʿatu
When the Occurrence occurs,
لَيْسَ Not laysa at its occurrence liwaqʿatihā a denial kādhibatun
There is, at its occurrence, no denial.
خَافِضَةٌۭ Bringing down khāfiḍatun raising up rāfiʿatun
It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].1
إِذَا When idhā will be shaken rujjati the earth l-arḍu (with) a shaking rajjan
When the earth is shaken with convulsion
وَبُسَّتِ And will be crumbled wabussati the mountains l-jibālu (with awful) crumbling bassan
And the mountains are broken down, crumbling
فَكَانَتْ So they become fakānat dust particles habāan dispersing munbathan
And become dust dispersing,
وَكُنتُمْ And you will become wakuntum kinds azwājan three thalāthatan
And you become [of] three kinds:
فَأَصْحَـٰبُ Then (the) companions fa-aṣḥābu (of) the right l-maymanati what mā (are the) companions aṣḥābu (of) the right l-maymanati
Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?1
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ And (the) companions wa-aṣḥābu (of) the left l-mashamati what mā (are the) companions aṣḥābu (of) the left l-mashamati
And the companions of the left - what are companions of the left?1
وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ And the foremost wal-sābiqūna (are) the foremost l-sābiqūna
And the forerunners, the forerunners1 -
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ulāika (are) the nearest ones l-muqarabūna
Those are the ones brought near [to Allāh]
فِى In fī Gardens jannāti (of) Pleasure l-naʿīmi
In the Gardens of Pleasure,
ثُلَّةٌۭ A company thullatun of mina the former (people) l-awalīna
A [large] company of the former peoples
وَقَلِيلٌۭ And a few waqalīlun of mina the later (people) l-ākhirīna
And a few of the later peoples,
عَلَىٰ On ʿalā thrones sururin decorated mawḍūnatin
On thrones woven [with ornament],
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ Reclining muttakiīna on them ʿalayhā facing each other mutaqābilīna
Reclining on them, facing each other.
