فِيهِمَا

In both of them

fīhimā

فَـٰكِهَةٌۭ

(are) fruits

fākihatun

وَنَخْلٌۭ

and date-palms

wanakhlun

وَرُمَّانٌۭ

and pomegranates

warummānun

٦٨

In both of them are fruit and palm trees and pomegranates.

— Saheeh International

فَبِأَىِّ

So which

fabi-ayyi

ءَالَآءِ

(of the) favors

ālāi

رَبِّكُمَا

(of) your Lord

rabbikumā

تُكَذِّبَانِ

will you both deny

tukadhibāni

٦٩

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

— Saheeh International

فِيهِنَّ

In them

fīhinna

خَيْرَٰتٌ

(are) good

khayrātun

حِسَانٌۭ

and beautiful ones

ḥisānun

٧٠

In them are good and beautiful women -

— Saheeh International

فَبِأَىِّ

So which

fabi-ayyi

ءَالَآءِ

(of the) favors

ālāi

رَبِّكُمَا

(of) your Lord

rabbikumā

تُكَذِّبَانِ

will you both deny

tukadhibāni

٧١

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

— Saheeh International

حُورٌۭ

Fair ones

ḥūrun

مَّقْصُورَٰتٌۭ

restrained

maqṣūrātun

فِى

in

ٱلْخِيَامِ

the pavilions

l-khiyāmi

٧٢

Fair ones reserved in pavilions -

— Saheeh International

فَبِأَىِّ

So which

fabi-ayyi

ءَالَآءِ

(of the) favors

ālāi

رَبِّكُمَا

(of) your Lord

rabbikumā

تُكَذِّبَانِ

will you both deny

tukadhibāni

٧٣

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

— Saheeh International

لَمْ

Not

lam

يَطْمِثْهُنَّ

has touched them

yaṭmith'hunna

إِنسٌۭ

any man

insun

قَبْلَهُمْ

before them

qablahum

وَلَا

and not

walā

جَآنٌّۭ

any jinn

jānnun

٧٤

Untouched before them by man or jinnī -

— Saheeh International

فَبِأَىِّ

So which

fabi-ayyi

ءَالَآءِ

(of the) favors

ālāi

رَبِّكُمَا

(of) your Lord

rabbikumā

تُكَذِّبَانِ

will you both deny

tukadhibāni

٧٥

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

— Saheeh International

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ

Reclining

muttakiīna

عَلَىٰ

on

ʿalā

رَفْرَفٍ

cushions

rafrafin

خُضْرٍۢ

green

khuḍ'rin

وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ

and carpets

waʿabqariyyin

حِسَانٍۢ

beautiful

ḥisānin

٧٦

Reclining on green cushions and beautiful fine carpets.

— Saheeh International

فَبِأَىِّ

So which

fabi-ayyi

ءَالَآءِ

(of the) favors

ālāi

رَبِّكُمَا

(of) your Lord

rabbikumā

تُكَذِّبَانِ

will you both deny

tukadhibāni

٧٧

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

— Saheeh International

تَبَـٰرَكَ

Blessed is

tabāraka

ٱسْمُ

(the) name

us'mu

رَبِّكَ

(of) your Lord

rabbika

ذِى

Owner

dhī

ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ

(of) Majesty

l-jalāli

وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ

and Honor

wal-ik'rāmi

٧٨

Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.

— Saheeh International

Al-Wāqi`ah

The Inevitable

الواقعة

إِذَا

When

idhā

وَقَعَتِ

occurs

waqaʿati

ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ

the Event

l-wāqiʿatu

١

When the Occurrence occurs,

— Saheeh International

لَيْسَ

Not

laysa

لِوَقْعَتِهَا

at its occurrence

liwaqʿatihā

كَاذِبَةٌ

a denial

kādhibatun

٢

There is, at its occurrence, no denial.

— Saheeh International

خَافِضَةٌۭ

Bringing down

khāfiḍatun

رَّافِعَةٌ

raising up

rāfiʿatun

٣

It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].1

— Saheeh International

إِذَا

When

idhā

رُجَّتِ

will be shaken

rujjati

ٱلْأَرْضُ

the earth

l-arḍu

رَجًّۭا

(with) a shaking

rajjan

٤

When the earth is shaken with convulsion

— Saheeh International

وَبُسَّتِ

And will be crumbled

wabussati

ٱلْجِبَالُ

the mountains

l-jibālu

بَسًّۭا

(with awful) crumbling

bassan

٥

And the mountains are broken down, crumbling

— Saheeh International

فَكَانَتْ

So they become

fakānat

هَبَآءًۭ

dust particles

habāan

مُّنۢبَثًّۭا

dispersing

munbathan

٦

And become dust dispersing,

— Saheeh International

وَكُنتُمْ

And you will become

wakuntum

أَزْوَٰجًۭا

kinds

azwājan

ثَلَـٰثَةًۭ

three

thalāthatan

٧

And you become [of] three kinds:

— Saheeh International

فَأَصْحَـٰبُ

Then (the) companions

fa-aṣḥābu

ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ

(of) the right

l-maymanati

مَآ

what

أَصْحَـٰبُ

(are the) companions

aṣḥābu

ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ

(of) the right

l-maymanati

٨

Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?1

— Saheeh International

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ

And (the) companions

wa-aṣḥābu

ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ

(of) the left

l-mashamati

مَآ

what

أَصْحَـٰبُ

(are the) companions

aṣḥābu

ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ

(of) the left

l-mashamati

٩

And the companions of the left - what are companions of the left?1

— Saheeh International

وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ

And the foremost

wal-sābiqūna

ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ

(are) the foremost

l-sābiqūna

١٠

And the forerunners, the forerunners1 -

— Saheeh International

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

Those

ulāika

ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ

(are) the nearest ones

l-muqarabūna

١١

Those are the ones brought near [to Allāh]

— Saheeh International

فِى

In

جَنَّـٰتِ

Gardens

jannāti

ٱلنَّعِيمِ

(of) Pleasure

l-naʿīmi

١٢

In the Gardens of Pleasure,

— Saheeh International

ثُلَّةٌۭ

A company

thullatun

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

the former (people)

l-awalīna

١٣

A [large] company of the former peoples

— Saheeh International

وَقَلِيلٌۭ

And a few

waqalīlun

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ

the later (people)

l-ākhirīna

١٤

And a few of the later peoples,

— Saheeh International

عَلَىٰ

On

ʿalā

سُرُرٍۢ

thrones

sururin

مَّوْضُونَةٍۢ

decorated

mawḍūnatin

١٥

On thrones woven [with ornament],

— Saheeh International

مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ

Reclining

muttakiīna

عَلَيْهَا

on them

ʿalayhā

مُتَقَـٰبِلِينَ

facing each other

mutaqābilīna

١٦

Reclining on them, facing each other.

— Saheeh International
