وَأَنَّهُۥ

And that He

wa-annahu

خَلَقَ

created

khalaqa

ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ

the pairs

l-zawjayni

ٱلذَّكَرَ

the male

l-dhakara

وَٱلْأُنثَىٰ

and the female

wal-unthā

٤٥

And that He creates the two mates - the male and female -

— Saheeh International

مِن

From

min

نُّطْفَةٍ

a semen-drop

nuṭ'fatin

إِذَا

when

idhā

تُمْنَىٰ

it is emitted

tum'nā

٤٦

From a sperm-drop when it is emitted

— Saheeh International

وَأَنَّ

And that

wa-anna

عَلَيْهِ

upon Him

ʿalayhi

ٱلنَّشْأَةَ

(is) the bringing forth

l-nashata

ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ

another

l-ukh'rā

٤٧

And that [incumbent] upon Him is the other [i.e., next] creation.

— Saheeh International

وَأَنَّهُۥ

And that He

wa-annahu

هُوَ

[He]

huwa

أَغْنَىٰ

enriches

aghnā

وَأَقْنَىٰ

and suffices

wa-aqnā

٤٨

And that it is He who enriches and suffices

— Saheeh International

وَأَنَّهُۥ

And that He

wa-annahu

هُوَ

[He]

huwa

رَبُّ

(is the) Lord

rabbu

ٱلشِّعْرَىٰ

(of) Sirius

l-shiʿ'rā

٤٩

And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius1.

— Saheeh International

وَأَنَّهُۥٓ

And that He

wa-annahu

أَهْلَكَ

destroyed

ahlaka

عَادًا

Aad

ʿādan

ٱلْأُولَىٰ

the first

l-ūlā

٥٠

And that He destroyed the first [people of] ʿAad.

— Saheeh International

وَثَمُودَا۟

And Thamud

wathamūdā

فَمَآ

so not

famā

أَبْقَىٰ

He spared

abqā

٥١

And Thamūd - and He did not spare [them] -

— Saheeh International

وَقَوْمَ

And (the) people

waqawma

نُوحٍۢ

(of) Nuh

nūḥin

مِّن

before

min

قَبْلُ ۖ

before

qablu

إِنَّهُمْ

Indeed, they

innahum

كَانُوا۟

they were

kānū

هُمْ

they were

hum

أَظْلَمَ

more unjust

aẓlama

وَأَطْغَىٰ

and more rebellious

wa-aṭghā

٥٢

And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing.

— Saheeh International

وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ

And the overturned cities

wal-mu'tafikata

أَهْوَىٰ

He overthrew

ahwā

٥٣

And the overturned towns1 He hurled down.

— Saheeh International

فَغَشَّىٰهَا

So covered them

faghashāhā

مَا

what

غَشَّىٰ

covered

ghashā

٥٤

And covered them by that which He covered.1

— Saheeh International

فَبِأَىِّ

Then which (of)

fabi-ayyi

ءَالَآءِ

the Favors

ālāi

رَبِّكَ

(of) your Lord

rabbika

تَتَمَارَىٰ

will you doubt

tatamārā

٥٥

Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt?

— Saheeh International

هَـٰذَا

This

hādhā

نَذِيرٌۭ

(is) a warner

nadhīrun

مِّنَ

from

mina

ٱلنُّذُرِ

the warners

l-nudhuri

ٱلْأُولَىٰٓ

the former

l-ūlā

٥٦

This [Prophet (ﷺ)] is a warner from [i.e., like] the former warners.

— Saheeh International

أَزِفَتِ

Has approached

azifati

ٱلْـَٔازِفَةُ

the Approaching Day

l-āzifatu

٥٧

The Approaching Day has approached.

— Saheeh International

لَيْسَ

Not is

laysa

لَهَا

for it

lahā

مِن

besides

min

دُونِ

besides

dūni

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

كَاشِفَةٌ

any remover

kāshifatun

٥٨

Of it, [from those] besides Allāh, there is no remover.

— Saheeh International

أَفَمِنْ

Then of

afamin

هَـٰذَا

this

hādhā

ٱلْحَدِيثِ

statement

l-ḥadīthi

تَعْجَبُونَ

you wonder

taʿjabūna

٥٩

Then at this statement do you wonder?

— Saheeh International

وَتَضْحَكُونَ

And you laugh

wataḍḥakūna

وَلَا

and (do) not

walā

تَبْكُونَ

weep

tabkūna

٦٠

And you laugh and do not weep

— Saheeh International

وَأَنتُمْ

While you

wa-antum

سَـٰمِدُونَ

amuse (yourselves)

sāmidūna

٦١

While you are proudly sporting?1

— Saheeh International

فَٱسْجُدُوا۟

So prostrate

fa-us'judū

لِلَّهِ

to Allah

lillahi

وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ ۩

and worship (Him)

wa-uʿ'budū

٦٢

So prostrate to Allāh and worship [Him].

— Saheeh International

Al-Qamar

The Moon

القمر

ٱقْتَرَبَتِ

Has come near

iq'tarabati

ٱلسَّاعَةُ

the Hour

l-sāʿatu

وَٱنشَقَّ

and has split

wa-inshaqqa

ٱلْقَمَرُ

the moon

l-qamaru

١

The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].1

— Saheeh International

وَإِن

And if

wa-in

يَرَوْا۟

they see

yaraw

ءَايَةًۭ

a Sign

āyatan

يُعْرِضُوا۟

they turn away

yuʿ'riḍū

وَيَقُولُوا۟

and say

wayaqūlū

سِحْرٌۭ

Magic

siḥ'run

مُّسْتَمِرٌّۭ

continuing

mus'tamirrun

٢

And if they see a sign [i.e., miracle], they turn away and say, "Passing magic."1

— Saheeh International

وَكَذَّبُوا۟

And they denied

wakadhabū

وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟

and followed

wa-ittabaʿū

أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚ

their desires

ahwāahum

وَكُلُّ

but (for) every

wakullu

أَمْرٍۢ

matter

amrin

مُّسْتَقِرٌّۭ

(will be a) settlement

mus'taqirrun

٣

And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement.

— Saheeh International

وَلَقَدْ

And certainly

walaqad

جَآءَهُم

has come to them

jāahum

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ

the information

l-anbāi

مَا

wherein

فِيهِ

wherein

fīhi

مُزْدَجَرٌ

(is) deterrence

muz'dajarun

٤

And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence.

— Saheeh International

حِكْمَةٌۢ

Wisdom

ḥik'matun

بَـٰلِغَةٌۭ ۖ

perfect

bālighatun

فَمَا

but not

famā

تُغْنِ

will avail

tugh'ni

ٱلنُّذُرُ

the warnings

l-nudhuru

٥

Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them].

— Saheeh International

فَتَوَلَّ

So turn away

fatawalla

عَنْهُمْ ۘ

from them

ʿanhum

يَوْمَ

(The) Day

yawma

يَدْعُ

will call

yadʿu

ٱلدَّاعِ

the caller

l-dāʿi

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

شَىْءٍۢ

a thing

shayin

نُّكُرٍ

terrible

nukurin

٦

So leave them, [O Muḥammad]. The Day the Caller1 calls to something forbidding,

— Saheeh International
