قُل Say qul to those who lilladhīna believe āmanū (to) forgive yaghfirū those who lilladhīna (do) not lā hope yarjūna (for the) days ayyāma (of) Allah l-lahi that He may recompense liyajziya a people qawman for what bimā they used to kānū earn yaksibūna
Say, [O Muḥammad], to those who have believed that they [should] forgive those who expect not the days of Allāh [i.e., of His retribution] so that He may recompense a people1 for what they used to earn.
مَنْ Whoever man does ʿamila a righteous deed ṣāliḥan then it is for his soul falinafsihi and whoever waman does evil asāa then it (is) against it faʿalayhā Then thumma to ilā your Lord rabbikum you will be returned tur'jaʿūna
Whoever does a good deed - it is for himself; and whoever does evil - it is against it [i.e., the self or soul]. Then to your Lord you will be returned.
وَلَقَدْ And certainly walaqad We gave ātaynā (the) Children of Israel banī (the) Children of Israel is'rāīla the Book l-kitāba and the wisdom wal-ḥuk'ma and the Prophethood wal-nubuwata and We provided them warazaqnāhum of mina the good things l-ṭayibāti and We preferred them wafaḍḍalnāhum over ʿalā the worlds l-ʿālamīna
And We did certainly give the Children of Israel the Scripture and judgement1 and prophethood, and We provided them with good things and preferred them over the worlds.
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُم And We gave them waātaynāhum clear proofs bayyinātin of mina the matter l-amri And not famā they differed ikh'talafū except illā after min after baʿdi [what] mā came to them jāahumu the knowledge l-ʿil'mu (out of) envy baghyan between themselves baynahum Indeed inna your Lord rabbaka will judge yaqḍī between them baynahum (on the) Day yawma (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati about what fīmā they used to kānū therein fīhi differ yakhtalifūna
And We gave them clear proofs of the matter [of religion]. And they did not differ except after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.
ثُمَّ Then thumma We put you jaʿalnāka on ʿalā an ordained way sharīʿatin of mina the matter l-amri so follow it fa-ittabiʿ'hā and (do) not walā follow tattabiʿ (the) desires ahwāa (of) those who alladhīna (do) not lā know yaʿlamūna
Then We put you, [O Muḥammad], on an ordained way concerning the matter [of religion]; so follow it and do not follow the inclinations of those who do not know.
إِنَّهُمْ Indeed, they innahum never lan will avail yugh'nū you ʿanka against mina Allah l-lahi (in) anything shayan And indeed wa-inna the wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna some of them baʿḍuhum (are) allies awliyāu (of) others baʿḍin and Allah wal-lahu (is the) Protector waliyyu (of) the righteous l-mutaqīna
Indeed, they will never avail you against Allāh at all. And indeed, the wrongdoers are allies of one another; but Allāh is the protector of the righteous.
هَـٰذَا This hādhā (is) enlightenment baṣāiru for mankind lilnnāsi and guidance wahudan and mercy waraḥmatun for a people liqawmin who are certain yūqinūna
This [Qur’ān] is enlightenment for mankind and guidance and mercy for a people who are certain [in faith].
أَمْ Do am think ḥasiba those who alladhīna commit ij'taraḥū evil deeds l-sayiāti that an We will make them najʿalahum like those who ka-alladhīna believed āmanū and did waʿamilū righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti equal sawāan (in) their life maḥyāhum and their death wamamātuhum Evil is sāa what mā they judge yaḥkumūna
Or do those who commit evils think We will make them like those who have believed and done righteous deeds - [make them] equal in their life and their death?1 Evil is that which they judge [i.e., assume].
وَخَلَقَ And Allah created wakhalaqa And Allah created l-lahu the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍa in truth bil-ḥaqi and that may be recompensed walituj'zā every kullu soul nafsin for what bimā it has earned kasabat and they wahum will not be wronged lā will not be wronged yuẓ'lamūna
And Allāh created the heavens and earth in truth and so that every soul may be recompensed for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged.
