أَوْ Or aw it should say taqūla If that law If that anna Allah l-laha (had) guided me hadānī surely, I (would) have been lakuntu among mina the righteous l-mutaqīna
Or [lest] it say, "If only Allāh had guided me, I would have been among the righteous."
أَوْ Or aw it should say taqūla when ḥīna it sees tarā the punishment l-ʿadhāba If law only anna for me lī another chance karratan then I could be fa-akūna among mina the good-doers l-muḥ'sinīna
Or [lest] it say when it sees the punishment, "If only I had another turn1 so I could be among the doers of good."
بَلَىٰ Yes balā verily qad came to you jāatka My Verses āyātī but you denied fakadhabta them bihā and were arrogant wa-is'takbarta and you were wakunta among mina the disbelievers l-kāfirīna
But yes, there had come to you My verses, but you denied them and were arrogant, and you were among the disbelievers.
وَيَوْمَ And (on the) Day wayawma (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati you will see tarā those who alladhīna lied kadhabū about ʿalā Allah l-lahi their faces wujūhuhum (will be) blackened mus'waddatun Is (there) not alaysa in fī Hell jahannama an abode mathwan for the arrogant lil'mutakabbirīna
And on the Day of Resurrection you will see those who lied about Allāh [with] their faces blackened. Is there not in Hell a residence for the arrogant?
وَيُنَجِّى And Allah will deliver wayunajjī And Allah will deliver l-lahu those who alladhīna feared (Him) ittaqaw to their place of salvation bimafāzatihim not lā will touch them yamassuhumu the evil l-sūu and not walā they hum will grieve yaḥzanūna
And Allāh will save those who feared Him by their attainment;1 no evil will touch them, nor will they grieve.
ٱللَّهُ Allah al-lahu (is the) Creator khāliqu (of) all kulli things shayin and He wahuwa (is) over ʿalā all kulli things shayin a Guardian wakīlun
Allāh is the Creator of all things, and He is, over all things, Disposer of affairs.
لَّهُۥ For Him lahu (are the) keys maqālīdu (of) the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi And those who wa-alladhīna disbelieve kafarū in (the) Verses biāyāti (of) Allah l-lahi those ulāika they humu (are) the losers l-khāsirūna
To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. And they who disbelieve in the verses of Allāh - it is those who are the losers.
قُلْ Say qul Is (it) other than afaghayra Allah l-lahi you order me tamurūnnī (to) worship aʿbudu O ayyuhā ignorant ones l-jāhilūna
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Is it other than Allāh that you order me to worship, O ignorant ones?"
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad it has been revealed ūḥiya to you ilayka and to wa-ilā those who alladhīna (were) before you min (were) before you qablika if la-in you associate (with Allah) ashrakta surely, will become worthless layaḥbaṭanna your deeds ʿamaluka and you will surely be walatakūnanna among mina the losers l-khāsirīna
And it was already revealed to you and to those before you that if you should associate [anything] with Allāh, your work would surely become worthless, and you would surely be among the losers.
بَلِ Nay bali But worship Allah l-laha But worship Allah fa-uʿ'bud and be wakun among mina the thankful ones l-shākirīna
Rather, worship [only] Allāh and be among the grateful.
وَمَا And not wamā they appraised qadarū Allah l-laha (with) true ḥaqqa appraisal qadrihi while the earth wal-arḍu entirely jamīʿan (will be) in His Grip qabḍatuhu (on the) Day yawma (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati and the heavens wal-samāwātu (will be) folded maṭwiyyātun in His Right Hand biyamīnihi Glory be to Him sub'ḥānahu And High is He wataʿālā above what ʿammā they associate (with Him) yush'rikūna
They have not appraised Allāh with true appraisal,1 while the earth entirely will be [within] His grip2 on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand.3 Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him.
