قُلْ Say qul Indeed, I innī [I] am commanded umir'tu that an I worship aʿbuda Allah l-laha (being) sincere mukh'liṣan to Him lahu (in) the religion l-dīna
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Indeed, I have been commanded to worship Allāh, [being] sincere to Him in religion.
وَأُمِرْتُ And I am commanded wa-umir'tu that li-an I be akūna (the) first awwala (of) those who submit l-mus'limīna
And I have been commanded to be the first [among you] of the Muslims."
قُلْ Say qul Indeed, I innī [I] fear akhāfu if in I disobey ʿaṣaytu my Lord rabbī (the) punishment ʿadhāba (of) a Day yawmin great ʿaẓīmin
Say, "Indeed I fear, if I should disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day."
قُلِ Say quli I worship Allah l-laha I worship Allah aʿbudu (being) sincere mukh'liṣan to Him lahu (in) my religion dīnī
Say, "Allāh [alone] do I worship, sincere to Him in my religion,
فَٱعْبُدُوا۟ So worship fa-uʿ'budū what mā you will shi'tum besides Him min besides Him dūnihi Say qul Indeed inna the losers l-khāsirīna (are) those who alladhīna (will) lose khasirū themselves anfusahum and their families wa-ahlīhim (on the) Day yawma (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati Unquestionably alā that dhālika it huwa (is) the loss l-khus'rānu the clear l-mubīnu
So worship what you will besides Him." Say, "Indeed, the losers are the ones who will lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, that is the manifest loss."
لَهُم For them lahum from min above them fawqihim coverings ẓulalun of mina the Fire l-nāri and from wamin below them taḥtihim coverings ẓulalun (With) that dhālika threatens yukhawwifu Allah l-lahu [with it] bihi His slaves ʿibādahu O My slaves yāʿibādi So fear Me fa-ittaqūni
They will have canopies [i.e., layers] of fire above them and below them, canopies. By that Allāh threatens [i.e., warns] His servants. O My servants, then fear Me.
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna avoid ij'tanabū the false gods l-ṭāghūta lest an they worship them yaʿbudūhā and turn wa-anābū to ilā Allah l-lahi for them lahumu (are) glad tidings l-bush'rā So give glad tidings fabashir (to) My slaves ʿibādi
But those who have avoided ṭāghūt,1 lest they worship it, and turned back to Allāh - for them are good tidings. So give good tidings to My servants
ٱلَّذِينَ Those who alladhīna they listen (to) yastamiʿūna the Word l-qawla then follow fayattabiʿūna the best thereof aḥsanahu those ulāika (are) they whom alladhīna Allah has guided them hadāhumu Allah has guided them l-lahu and those wa-ulāika are [they] hum the men of understanding ulū the men of understanding l-albābi
Who listen to speech and follow the best of it. Those are the ones Allāh has guided, and those are people of understanding.
أَفَمَنْ Then, is (one) who afaman became due ḥaqqa on him ʿalayhi the word kalimatu (of) the punishment l-ʿadhābi Then can you afa-anta save tunqidhu (one) who man (is) in fī the Fire l-nāri
Then, is one who has deserved the decree of punishment [to be guided]? Then, can you save one who is in the Fire?
لَـٰكِنِ But lākini those who alladhīna fear ittaqaw their Lord rabbahum for them lahum (are) lofty mansions ghurafun above them min above them fawqihā lofty mansions ghurafun built high mabniyyatun flow tajrī from min beneath it taḥtihā the rivers l-anhāru (The) Promise waʿda (of) Allah l-lahi Not lā Allah fails yukh'lifu Allah fails l-lahu (in His) promise l-mīʿāda
But those who have feared their Lord - for them are chambers,1 above them chambers built high, beneath which rivers flow. [This is] the promise of Allāh. Allāh does not fail in [His] promise.
أَلَمْ Do not alam you see tara that anna Allah l-laha sends down anzala from mina the sky l-samāi water māan and He makes it flow fasalakahu (as) springs yanābīʿa in fī the earth l-arḍi then thumma He produces yukh'riju with it bihi crops zarʿan (of) different mukh'talifan colors alwānuhu then thumma they wither yahīju and you see it fatarāhu turn yellow muṣ'farran then thumma He makes them yajʿaluhu debris ḥuṭāman Indeed inna in fī that dhālika surely, (is) a reminder ladhik'rā for those of understanding li-ulī for those of understanding l-albābi
Do you not see that Allāh sends down rain from the sky and makes it flow as springs [and rivers] in the earth; then He produces thereby crops of varying colors; then they dry and you see them turned yellow; then He makes them [scattered] debris. Indeed in that is a reminder for those of understanding.
