خَلَقَكُم He created you khalaqakum from min a soul nafsin single wāḥidatin Then thumma He made jaʿala from it min'hā its mate zawjahā And He sent down wa-anzala for you lakum of mina the cattle l-anʿāmi eight thamāniyata kinds azwājin He creates you yakhluqukum in fī (the) wombs buṭūni (of) your mothers ummahātikum creation khalqan after min after baʿdi creation khalqin in fī darkness[es] ẓulumātin three thalāthin That dhālikumu (is) Allah l-lahu your Lord rabbukum for Him lahu (is) the dominion l-mul'ku (There is) no lā god ilāha except illā He huwa Then how fa-annā are you turning away tuṣ'rafūna
He created you from one soul. Then He made from it its mate, and He produced for you from the grazing livestock eight mates.1 He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, within three darknesses.2 That is Allāh, your Lord; to Him belongs dominion. There is no deity except Him, so how are you averted?
إِن If in you disbelieve takfurū then indeed fa-inna Allah l-laha (is) free from need ghaniyyun of you ʿankum And not walā He likes yarḍā in His slaves liʿibādihi ungratefulness l-kuf'ra And if wa-in you are grateful tashkurū He likes it yarḍahu in you lakum And not walā will bear taziru bearer of burdens wāziratun (the) burden wiz'ra (of) another ukh'rā Then thumma to ilā your Lord rabbikum (is) your return marjiʿukum then He will inform you fayunabbi-ukum about what bimā you used to kuntum do taʿmalūna Indeed, He innahu (is) the All-Knower ʿalīmun of what (is) in the breasts bidhāti of what (is) in the breasts l-ṣudūri
If you disbelieve - indeed, Allāh is Free from need of you. And He does not approve for His servants disbelief. And if you are grateful, He approves [i.e., likes] it for you; and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about what you used to do. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
۞ وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā touches massa [the] man l-insāna adversity ḍurrun he calls daʿā his Lord rabbahu turning munīban to Him ilayhi then thumma when idhā He bestows on him khawwalahu a favor niʿ'matan from Himself min'hu he forgets nasiya (for) what mā he used to call kāna he used to call yadʿū [to] Him ilayhi before min before qablu and he sets up wajaʿala to Allah lillahi rivals andādan to mislead liyuḍilla from ʿan His Path sabīlihi Say qul Enjoy tamattaʿ in your disbelief bikuf'rika (for) a little qalīlan Indeed, you innaka (are) of min (the) companions aṣḥābi (of) the Fire l-nāri
And when adversity touches man, he calls upon his Lord, turning to Him [alone]; then when He bestows on him a favor from Himself, he forgets Him whom he called upon before,1 and he attributes to Allāh equals to mislead [people] from His way. Say, "Enjoy your disbelief for a little; indeed, you are of the companions of the Fire."
أَمَّنْ Is (one) who amman [he] huwa (is) devoutly obedient qānitun (during) hours ānāa (of) the night al-layli prostrating sājidan and standing waqāiman fearing yaḥdharu the Hereafter l-ākhirata and hoping wayarjū (for the) Mercy raḥmata (of) his Lord rabbihi Say qul Are hal equal yastawī those who alladhīna know yaʿlamūna and those who wa-alladhīna (do) not lā know yaʿlamūna Only innamā will take heed yatadhakkaru those of understanding ulū those of understanding l-albābi
Is one who is devoutly obedient during periods of the night, prostrating and standing [in prayer], fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, [like one who does not]? Say, "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding.
قُلْ Say qul O My slaves yāʿibādi [those] who alladhīna believe āmanū Fear ittaqū your Lord rabbakum For those who lilladhīna do good aḥsanū in fī this hādhihi world l-dun'yā (is) good ḥasanatun and the earth wa-arḍu (of) Allah l-lahi (is) spacious wāsiʿatun Only innamā will be paid back in full yuwaffā the patient ones l-ṣābirūna their reward ajrahum without bighayri account ḥisābin
Say,1 "O My servants who have believed, fear your Lord. For those who do good in this world is good, and the earth of Allāh is spacious. Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account [i.e., limit]."
