وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم

And surely, We will let them taste

walanudhīqannahum

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلْعَذَابِ

the punishment

l-ʿadhābi

ٱلْأَدْنَىٰ

the nearer

l-adnā

دُونَ

before

dūna

ٱلْعَذَابِ

the punishment

l-ʿadhābi

ٱلْأَكْبَرِ

the greater

l-akbari

لَعَلَّهُمْ

so that they may

laʿallahum

يَرْجِعُونَ

return

yarjiʿūna

٢١

And We will surely let them taste the nearer punishment1 short of the greater punishment that perhaps they will return [i.e., repent].

— Saheeh International

وَمَنْ

And who

waman

أَظْلَمُ

(is) more unjust

aẓlamu

مِمَّن

than (he) who

mimman

ذُكِّرَ

is reminded

dhukkira

بِـَٔايَـٰتِ

of (the) Verses

biāyāti

رَبِّهِۦ

(of) his Lord

rabbihi

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

أَعْرَضَ

he turns away

aʿraḍa

عَنْهَآ ۚ

from them

ʿanhā

إِنَّا

Indeed, We

innā

مِنَ

from

mina

ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ

the criminals

l-muj'rimīna

مُنتَقِمُونَ

(will) take retribution

muntaqimūna

٢٢

And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord; then he turns away from them? Indeed We, from the criminals, will take retribution.

— Saheeh International

وَلَقَدْ

And certainly

walaqad

ءَاتَيْنَا

We gave

ātaynā

مُوسَى

Musa

mūsā

ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ

the Scripture

l-kitāba

فَلَا

so (do) not

falā

تَكُن

be

takun

فِى

in

مِرْيَةٍۢ

doubt

mir'yatin

مِّن

about

min

لِّقَآئِهِۦ ۖ

receiving it

liqāihi

وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ

And We made it

wajaʿalnāhu

هُدًۭى

a guide

hudan

لِّبَنِىٓ

for the Children of Israel

libanī

إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ

for the Children of Israel

is'rāīla

٢٣

And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture, so do not be in doubt over his meeting.1 And We made it [i.e., the Torah] guidance for the Children of Israel.

— Saheeh International

وَجَعَلْنَا

And We made

wajaʿalnā

مِنْهُمْ

from them

min'hum

أَئِمَّةًۭ

leaders

a-immatan

يَهْدُونَ

guiding

yahdūna

بِأَمْرِنَا

by Our Command

bi-amrinā

لَمَّا

when

lammā

صَبَرُوا۟ ۖ

they were patient

ṣabarū

وَكَانُوا۟

and they were

wakānū

بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا

of Our Verses

biāyātinā

يُوقِنُونَ

certain

yūqinūna

٢٤

And We made from among them leaders guiding by Our command when they were patient and [when] they were certain of Our signs.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

رَبَّكَ

your Lord

rabbaka

هُوَ

[He]

huwa

يَفْصِلُ

will judge

yafṣilu

بَيْنَهُمْ

between them

baynahum

يَوْمَ

(on the) Day

yawma

ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ

(of) Resurrection

l-qiyāmati

فِيمَا

in what

fīmā

كَانُوا۟

they used (to)

kānū

فِيهِ

[in it]

fīhi

يَخْتَلِفُونَ

differ

yakhtalifūna

٢٥

Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.

— Saheeh International

أَوَلَمْ

Does it not

awalam

يَهْدِ

guide

yahdi

لَهُمْ

[for] them

lahum

كَمْ

(that) how many

kam

أَهْلَكْنَا

We have destroyed

ahlaknā

مِن

before them

min

قَبْلِهِم

before them

qablihim

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلْقُرُونِ

the generations

l-qurūni

يَمْشُونَ

they walk about

yamshūna

فِى

in

مَسَـٰكِنِهِمْ ۚ

their dwellings

masākinihim

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

فِى

in

ذَٰلِكَ

that

dhālika

لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ ۖ

surely, are Signs

laāyātin

أَفَلَا

Then do not

afalā

يَسْمَعُونَ

they hear

yasmaʿūna

٢٦

Has it not become clear to them how many generations We destroyed before them, [as] they walk among their dwellings? Indeed in that are signs; then do they not hear?

— Saheeh International

أَوَلَمْ

Do not

awalam

يَرَوْا۟

they see

yaraw

أَنَّا

that We

annā

نَسُوقُ

drive

nasūqu

ٱلْمَآءَ

water

l-māa

إِلَى

to

ilā

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the land

l-arḍi

ٱلْجُرُزِ

[the] barren

l-juruzi

فَنُخْرِجُ

then We bring forth

fanukh'riju

بِهِۦ

thereby

bihi

زَرْعًۭا

crops

zarʿan

تَأْكُلُ

eat

takulu

مِنْهُ

from it

min'hu

أَنْعَـٰمُهُمْ

their cattle

anʿāmuhum

وَأَنفُسُهُمْ ۖ

and they themselves

wa-anfusuhum

أَفَلَا

Then do not

afalā

يُبْصِرُونَ

they see

yub'ṣirūna

٢٧

Have they not seen that We drive water [in clouds] to barren land and bring forth thereby crops from which their livestock eat and [they] themselves? Then do they not see?

— Saheeh International

وَيَقُولُونَ

And they say

wayaqūlūna

مَتَىٰ

When (will be)

matā

هَـٰذَا

this

hādhā

ٱلْفَتْحُ

decision

l-fatḥu

إِن

if

in

كُنتُمْ

you are

kuntum

صَـٰدِقِينَ

truthful

ṣādiqīna

٢٨

And they say, "When will be this conquest,1 if you should be truthful?"

— Saheeh International

قُلْ

Say

qul

يَوْمَ

(On the) Day

yawma

ٱلْفَتْحِ

(of) the Decision

l-fatḥi

لَا

not

يَنفَعُ

will benefit

yanfaʿu

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

كَفَرُوٓا۟

disbelieve

kafarū

إِيمَـٰنُهُمْ

their belief

īmānuhum

وَلَا

and not

walā

هُمْ

they

hum

يُنظَرُونَ

will be granted respite

yunẓarūna

٢٩

Say, [O Muḥammad], "On the Day of Conquest the belief of those who had disbelieved will not benefit them, nor will they be reprieved."

— Saheeh International

فَأَعْرِضْ

So turn away

fa-aʿriḍ

عَنْهُمْ

from them

ʿanhum

وَٱنتَظِرْ

and wait

wa-intaẓir

إِنَّهُم

Indeed, they

innahum

مُّنتَظِرُونَ

(are) waiting

muntaẓirūna

٣٠

So turn away from them and wait. Indeed, they are waiting.

— Saheeh International
