Alif, Lām, Meem.1

— Saheeh International

تَنزِيلُ

(The) revelation

tanzīlu

ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ

(of) the Book

l-kitābi

لَا

(there is) no

رَيْبَ

doubt

rayba

فِيهِ

about it

fīhi

مِن

from

min

رَّبِّ

(the) Lord

rabbi

ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

(of) the worlds

l-ʿālamīna

٢

[This is] the revelation of the Book about which there is no doubt from the Lord of the worlds.

— Saheeh International

أَمْ

Or

am

يَقُولُونَ

(do) they say

yaqūlūna

ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ ۚ

He invented it

if'tarāhu

بَلْ

Nay

bal

هُوَ

it

huwa

ٱلْحَقُّ

(is) the truth

l-ḥaqu

مِن

from

min

رَّبِّكَ

your Lord

rabbika

لِتُنذِرَ

that you may warn

litundhira

قَوْمًۭا

a people

qawman

مَّآ

not

أَتَىٰهُم

has come to them

atāhum

مِّن

any

min

نَّذِيرٍۢ

warner

nadhīrin

مِّن

before you

min

قَبْلِكَ

before you

qablika

لَعَلَّهُمْ

so that they may

laʿallahum

يَهْتَدُونَ

be guided

yahtadūna

٣

Or do they say, "He invented it"? Rather, it is the truth from your Lord, [O Muḥammad], that you may warn a people to whom no warner has come before you [so] perhaps they will be guided.

— Saheeh International

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

al-lahu

ٱلَّذِى

(is) the One Who

alladhī

خَلَقَ

created

khalaqa

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَٱلْأَرْضَ

and the earth

wal-arḍa

وَمَا

and whatever

wamā

بَيْنَهُمَا

(is) between them

baynahumā

فِى

in

سِتَّةِ

six

sittati

أَيَّامٍۢ

periods

ayyāmin

ثُمَّ

Then

thumma

ٱسْتَوَىٰ

established Himself

is'tawā

عَلَى

on

ʿalā

ٱلْعَرْشِ ۖ

the Throne

l-ʿarshi

مَا

Not

لَكُم

for you

lakum

مِّن

besides Him

min

دُونِهِۦ

besides Him

dūnihi

مِن

any

min

وَلِىٍّۢ

protector

waliyyin

وَلَا

and not

walā

شَفِيعٍ ۚ

any intercessor

shafīʿin

أَفَلَا

Then will not

afalā

تَتَذَكَّرُونَ

you take heed

tatadhakkarūna

٤

It is Allāh who created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them in six days; then He established Himself above the Throne.1 You have not besides Him any protector or any intercessor; so will you not be reminded?

— Saheeh International

يُدَبِّرُ

He regulates

yudabbiru

ٱلْأَمْرَ

the affair

l-amra

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلسَّمَآءِ

the heaven

l-samāi

إِلَى

to

ilā

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

يَعْرُجُ

it will ascend

yaʿruju

إِلَيْهِ

to Him

ilayhi

فِى

in

يَوْمٍۢ

a Day

yawmin

كَانَ

(the) measure of which is

kāna

مِقْدَارُهُۥٓ

(the) measure of which is

miq'dāruhu

أَلْفَ

a thousand

alfa

سَنَةٍۢ

years

sanatin

مِّمَّا

of what

mimmā

تَعُدُّونَ

you count

taʿuddūna

٥

He arranges [each] matter from the heaven to the earth; then it will ascend to Him in a Day, the extent of which is a thousand years of those which you count.

— Saheeh International

ذَٰلِكَ

That

dhālika

عَـٰلِمُ

(is the) Knower

ʿālimu

ٱلْغَيْبِ

(of) the hidden

l-ghaybi

وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ

and the witnessed

wal-shahādati

ٱلْعَزِيزُ

the All-Mighty

l-ʿazīzu

ٱلرَّحِيمُ

the Most Merciful

l-raḥīmu

٦

That is the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,

— Saheeh International

ٱلَّذِىٓ

The One Who

alladhī

أَحْسَنَ

made good

aḥsana

كُلَّ

every

kulla

شَىْءٍ

thing

shayin

خَلَقَهُۥ ۖ

He created

khalaqahu

وَبَدَأَ

and He began

wabada-a

خَلْقَ

(the) creation

khalqa

ٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ

(of) man

l-insāni

مِن

from

min

طِينٍۢ

clay

ṭīnin

٧

Who perfected everything which He created and began the creation of man from clay.

— Saheeh International

ثُمَّ

Then

thumma

جَعَلَ

He made

jaʿala

نَسْلَهُۥ

his progeny

naslahu

مِن

from

min

سُلَـٰلَةٍۢ

an extract

sulālatin

مِّن

of

min

مَّآءٍۢ

water

māin

مَّهِينٍۢ

despised

mahīnin

٨

Then He made his posterity out of the extract of a liquid disdained.

— Saheeh International

ثُمَّ

Then

thumma

سَوَّىٰهُ

He fashioned him

sawwāhu

وَنَفَخَ

and breathed

wanafakha

فِيهِ

into him

fīhi

مِن

from

min

رُّوحِهِۦ ۖ

His spirit

rūḥihi

وَجَعَلَ

and made

wajaʿala

لَكُمُ

for you

lakumu

ٱلسَّمْعَ

the hearing

l-samʿa

وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ

and the sight

wal-abṣāra

وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۚ

and feelings

wal-afidata

قَلِيلًۭا

little

qalīlan

مَّا

[what]

تَشْكُرُونَ

thanks you give

tashkurūna

٩

Then He proportioned him and breathed into him from His [created] soul1 and made for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect]; little are you grateful.

— Saheeh International

وَقَالُوٓا۟

And they say

waqālū

أَءِذَا

Is (it) when

a-idhā

ضَلَلْنَا

we are lost

ḍalalnā

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

أَءِنَّا

will we

a-innā

لَفِى

certainly be in

lafī

خَلْقٍۢ

a creation

khalqin

جَدِيدٍۭ ۚ

new

jadīdin

بَلْ

Nay

bal

هُم

they

hum

بِلِقَآءِ

in (the) meeting

biliqāi

رَبِّهِمْ

(of) their Lord

rabbihim

كَـٰفِرُونَ

(are) disbelievers

kāfirūna

١٠

And they say, "When we are lost [i.e., disintegrated] within the earth, will we indeed be [recreated] in a new creation?" Rather, they are, in the meeting with their Lord, disbelievers.

— Saheeh International

۞ قُلْ

Say

qul

يَتَوَفَّىٰكُم

Will take your soul

yatawaffākum

مَّلَكُ

(the) Angel

malaku

ٱلْمَوْتِ

(of) the death

l-mawti

ٱلَّذِى

the one who

alladhī

وُكِّلَ

has been put in charge

wukkila

بِكُمْ

of you

bikum

ثُمَّ

Then

thumma

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

رَبِّكُمْ

your Lord

rabbikum

تُرْجَعُونَ

you will be returned

tur'jaʿūna

١١

Say, "The angel of death who has been entrusted with you will take you. Then to your Lord you will be returned."

— Saheeh International
