أَلَمْ Do not alam you see taraw that anna Allah l-laha has subjected sakhara to you lakum whatever mā (is) in fī the heavens l-samāwāti and whatever wamā (is) in fī the earth l-arḍi and amply bestowed wa-asbagha upon you ʿalaykum His Bounties niʿamahu apparent ẓāhiratan and hidden wabāṭinatan But of wamina the people l-nāsi (is he) who man disputes yujādilu about fī Allah l-lahi without bighayri knowledge ʿil'min and not walā guidance hudan and not walā a book kitābin enlightening munīrin
Do you not see that Allāh has made subject to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth and amply bestowed upon you His favors, [both] apparent and unapparent? But of the people is he who disputes about Allāh without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening Book [from Him].
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā it is said qīla to them lahumu Follow ittabiʿū what mā Allah (has) revealed anzala Allah (has) revealed l-lahu they say qālū Nay bal we will follow nattabiʿu what mā we found wajadnā on it ʿalayhi our forefathers ābāanā Even if awalaw Shaitaan was kāna Shaitaan was l-shayṭānu (to) call them yadʿūhum to ilā (the) punishment ʿadhābi (of) the Blaze l-saʿīri
And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allāh has revealed," they say, "Rather, we will follow that upon which we found our fathers." Even if Satan was inviting them to the punishment of the Blaze?
۞ وَمَن And whoever waman submits yus'lim his face wajhahu to ilā Allah l-lahi while he wahuwa (is) a good-doer muḥ'sinun then indeed faqadi he has grasped is'tamsaka the handhold bil-ʿur'wati the most trustworthy l-wuth'qā And to wa-ilā Allah l-lahi (is the) end ʿāqibatu (of) the matters l-umūri
And whoever submits his face [i.e., self] to Allāh while he is a doer of good - then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold. And to Allāh will be the outcome of [all] matters.
وَمَن And whoever waman disbelieves kafara let not falā grieve you yaḥzunka his disbelief kuf'ruhu To Us ilaynā (is) their return marjiʿuhum then We will inform them fanunabbi-uhum of what bimā they did ʿamilū Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is) the All-Knower ʿalīmun of what bidhāti (is in) the breasts l-ṣudūri
And whoever has disbelieved - let not his disbelief grieve you. To Us is their return, and We will inform them of what they did. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing of that within the breasts.
نُمَتِّعُهُمْ We grant them enjoyment numattiʿuhum (for) a little qalīlan then thumma We will force them naḍṭarruhum to ilā a punishment ʿadhābin severe ghalīẓin
We grant them enjoyment for a little; then We will force them to a massive punishment.
وَلَئِن And if wala-in you ask them sa-altahum Who man created khalaqa the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍa They will surely say layaqūlunna Allah l-lahu Say quli All praises l-ḥamdu (are) for Allah lillahi But bal most of them aktharuhum (do) not lā know yaʿlamūna
And if you asked them, "Who created the heavens and earth?" they would surely say, "Allāh." Say, "[All] praise is [due] to Allāh"; but most of them do not know.
لِلَّهِ To Allah (belongs) lillahi whatever mā (is) in fī the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi Indeed inna Allah l-laha He huwa (is) Free of need l-ghaniyu the Praiseworthy l-ḥamīdu
To Allāh belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth. Indeed, Allāh is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.
وَلَوْ And if walaw whatever annamā (is) in fī the earth l-arḍi of min (the) trees shajaratin (were) pens aqlāmun and the sea wal-baḥru (to) add to it yamudduhu after it min after it baʿdihi seven sabʿatu seas abḥurin not mā would be exhausted nafidat (the) Words kalimātu (of) Allah l-lahi Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is) All-Mighty ʿazīzun All-Wise ḥakīmun
And if whatever trees upon the earth were pens and the sea [was ink], replenished thereafter by seven [more] seas, the words1 of Allāh would not be exhausted. Indeed, Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.
مَّا Not mā (is) your creation khalqukum and not walā your resurrection baʿthukum but illā as a soul kanafsin single wāḥidatin Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is) All-Hearer samīʿun All-Seer baṣīrun
Your creation and your resurrection will not be but as that of a single soul.1 Indeed, Allāh is Hearing and Seeing.
