Say

qul

أَرَءَيْتُمْ

Have you seen

ara-aytum

إِن

if

in

جَعَلَ

Allah made

jaʿala

ٱللَّهُ

Allah made

l-lahu

عَلَيْكُمُ

for you

ʿalaykumu

ٱلَّيْلَ

the night

al-layla

سَرْمَدًا

continuous

sarmadan

إِلَىٰ

till

ilā

يَوْمِ

(the) Day

yawmi

ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ

(of) the Resurrection

l-qiyāmati

مَنْ

who

man

إِلَـٰهٌ

(is the) god

ilāhun

غَيْرُ

besides

ghayru

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

يَأْتِيكُم

who could bring you

yatīkum

بِضِيَآءٍ ۖ

light

biḍiyāin

أَفَلَا

Then will not

afalā

تَسْمَعُونَ

you hear

tasmaʿūna

٧١

Say, "Have you considered:1 if Allāh should make for you the night continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allāh could bring you light? Then will you not hear?"

— Saheeh International

قُلْ

Say

qul

أَرَءَيْتُمْ

Have you seen

ara-aytum

إِن

if

in

جَعَلَ

Allah made

jaʿala

ٱللَّهُ

Allah made

l-lahu

عَلَيْكُمُ

for you

ʿalaykumu

ٱلنَّهَارَ

the day

l-nahāra

سَرْمَدًا

continuous

sarmadan

إِلَىٰ

till

ilā

يَوْمِ

(the) Day

yawmi

ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ

(of) the Resurrection

l-qiyāmati

مَنْ

who

man

إِلَـٰهٌ

(is the) god

ilāhun

غَيْرُ

besides

ghayru

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

يَأْتِيكُم

who could bring you

yatīkum

بِلَيْلٍۢ

night

bilaylin

تَسْكُنُونَ

(for) you (to) rest

taskunūna

فِيهِ ۖ

in it

fīhi

أَفَلَا

Then will not

afalā

تُبْصِرُونَ

you see

tub'ṣirūna

٧٢

Say, "Have you considered: if Allāh should make for you the day continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allāh could bring you a night in which you may rest? Then will you not see?"

— Saheeh International

وَمِن

And from

wamin

رَّحْمَتِهِۦ

His Mercy

raḥmatihi

جَعَلَ

He made

jaʿala

لَكُمُ

for you

lakumu

ٱلَّيْلَ

the night

al-layla

وَٱلنَّهَارَ

and the day

wal-nahāra

لِتَسْكُنُوا۟

that you may rest

litaskunū

فِيهِ

therein

fīhi

وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟

and that you may seek

walitabtaghū

مِن

from

min

فَضْلِهِۦ

His Bounty

faḍlihi

وَلَعَلَّكُمْ

and so that you may

walaʿallakum

تَشْكُرُونَ

be grateful

tashkurūna

٧٣

And out of His mercy He made for you the night and the day that you may rest therein and [by day] seek from His bounty and [that] perhaps you will be grateful.

— Saheeh International

وَيَوْمَ

And (the) Day

wayawma

يُنَادِيهِمْ

He will call them

yunādīhim

فَيَقُولُ

and say

fayaqūlu

أَيْنَ

Where

ayna

شُرَكَآءِىَ

(are) My partners

shurakāiya

ٱلَّذِينَ

whom

alladhīna

كُنتُمْ

you used (to)

kuntum

تَزْعُمُونَ

claim

tazʿumūna

٧٤

And [warn of] the Day He will call them and say, "Where are My 'partners' which you used to claim?"

— Saheeh International

وَنَزَعْنَا

And We will draw forth

wanazaʿnā

مِن

from

min

كُلِّ

every

kulli

أُمَّةٍۢ

nation

ummatin

شَهِيدًۭا

a witness

shahīdan

فَقُلْنَا

and We will say

faqul'nā

هَاتُوا۟

Bring

hātū

بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ

your proof

bur'hānakum

فَعَلِمُوٓا۟

Then they will know

faʿalimū

أَنَّ

that

anna

ٱلْحَقَّ

the truth

l-ḥaqa

لِلَّهِ

(is) for Allah

lillahi

وَضَلَّ

and (will be) lost

waḍalla

عَنْهُم

from them

ʿanhum

مَّا

what

كَانُوا۟

they used (to)

kānū

يَفْتَرُونَ

invent

yaftarūna

٧٥

And We will extract from every nation a witness and say, "Produce your proof," and they will know that the truth belongs to Allāh, and lost from them is that which they used to invent.

— Saheeh International

۞ إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

قَـٰرُونَ

Qarun

qārūna

كَانَ

was

kāna

مِن

from

min

قَوْمِ

(the) people

qawmi

مُوسَىٰ

(of) Musa

mūsā

فَبَغَىٰ

but he oppressed

fabaghā

عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ

[on] them

ʿalayhim

وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ

And We gave him

waātaynāhu

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلْكُنُوزِ

the treasures

l-kunūzi

مَآ

which

إِنَّ

indeed

inna

مَفَاتِحَهُۥ

(the) keys of it

mafātiḥahu

لَتَنُوٓأُ

would burden

latanūu

بِٱلْعُصْبَةِ

a company (of men)

bil-ʿuṣ'bati

أُو۟لِى

possessors of great strength

ulī

ٱلْقُوَّةِ

possessors of great strength

l-quwati

إِذْ

When

idh

قَالَ

said

qāla

لَهُۥ

to him

lahu

قَوْمُهُۥ

his people

qawmuhu

لَا

(Do) not

تَفْرَحْ ۖ

exult

tafraḥ

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

لَا

(does) not

يُحِبُّ

love

yuḥibbu

ٱلْفَرِحِينَ

the exultant

l-fariḥīna

٧٦

Indeed, Qārūn was from the people of Moses, but he tyrannized them. And We gave him of treasures whose keys would burden a band of strong men; thereupon his people said to him, "Do not exult. Indeed, Allāh does not like the exultant.

— Saheeh International

وَٱبْتَغِ

But seek

wa-ib'taghi

فِيمَآ

through what

fīmā

ءَاتَىٰكَ

Allah has given you

ātāka

ٱللَّهُ

Allah has given you

l-lahu

ٱلدَّارَ

the home

l-dāra

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ ۖ

(of) the Hereafter

l-ākhirata

وَلَا

and (do) not

walā

تَنسَ

forget

tansa

نَصِيبَكَ

your share

naṣībaka

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ

the world

l-dun'yā

وَأَحْسِن

And do good

wa-aḥsin

كَمَآ

as

kamā

أَحْسَنَ

Allah has been good

aḥsana

ٱللَّهُ

Allah has been good

l-lahu

إِلَيْكَ ۖ

to you

ilayka

وَلَا

And (do) not

walā

تَبْغِ

seek

tabghi

ٱلْفَسَادَ

corruption

l-fasāda

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ

the earth

l-arḍi

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

لَا

(does) not

يُحِبُّ

love

yuḥibbu

ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ

the corrupters

l-muf'sidīna

٧٧

But seek, through that which Allāh has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world. And do good as Allāh has done good to you. And desire not corruption in the land. Indeed, Allāh does not like corrupters."
