يُقَلِّبُ Allah alternates yuqallibu Allah alternates l-lahu the night al-layla and the day wal-nahāra Indeed inna in fī that dhālika surely is a lesson laʿib'ratan for those who have vision li-ulī for those who have vision l-abṣāri
Allāh alternates the night and the day. Indeed in that is a lesson for those who have vision.
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu created khalaqa every kulla moving creature dābbatin from min water māin Of them famin'hum (is a kind) who man walks yamshī on ʿalā its belly baṭnihi and of them wamin'hum (is a kind) who man walks yamshī on ʿalā two legs rij'layni and of them wamin'hum (is a kind) who man walks yamshī on ʿalā four arbaʿin Allah creates yakhluqu Allah creates l-lahu what mā He wills yashāu Indeed inna Allah l-laha on ʿalā every kulli thing shayin (is) All-Powerful qadīrun
Allāh has created every [living] creature from water. And of them are those that move on their bellies, and of them are those that walk on two legs, and of them are those that walk on four. Allāh creates what He wills. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.
لَّقَدْ Verily laqad We have sent down anzalnā Verses āyātin clear mubayyinātin And Allah wal-lahu guides yahdī whom man He wills yashāu to ilā a path ṣirāṭin straight mus'taqīmin
We have certainly sent down distinct verses. And Allāh guides whom He wills to a straight path.
وَيَقُولُونَ And they say wayaqūlūna We believe āmannā in Allah bil-lahi and in the Messenger wabil-rasūli and we obey wa-aṭaʿnā Then thumma turns away yatawallā a party farīqun of them min'hum after min after baʿdi that dhālika And not wamā those ulāika (are) believers bil-mu'minīna
But they [i.e., the hypocrites] say, "We have believed in Allāh and in the Messenger, and we obey"; then a party of them turns away after that. And those are not believers.
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā they are called duʿū to ilā Allah l-lahi and His Messenger warasūlihi to judge liyaḥkuma between them baynahum behold idhā a party farīqun of them min'hum (is) averse muʿ'riḍūna
And when they are called to [the words of] Allāh and His Messenger to judge between them, at once a party of them turns aside [in refusal].
وَإِن But if wa-in is yakun with them lahumu the truth l-ḥaqu they come yatū to him ilayhi (as) promptly obedient mudh'ʿinīna
But if the right is theirs, they come to him in prompt obedience.
أَفِى Is (there) in afī their hearts qulūbihim a disease maraḍun or ami do they doubt ir'tābū or am they fear yakhāfūna that an Allah will be unjust yaḥīfa Allah will be unjust l-lahu to them ʿalayhim and His Messenger warasūluhu Nay bal those ulāika [they] humu (are) the wrongdoers l-ẓālimūna
Is there disease in their hearts? Or have they doubted? Or do they fear that Allāh will be unjust to them, or His Messenger? Rather, it is they who are the wrongdoers [i.e., the unjust].
إِنَّمَا Only innamā is kāna (the) statement qawla (of) the believers l-mu'minīna when idhā they are called duʿū to ilā Allah l-lahi and His Messenger warasūlihi to judge liyaḥkuma between them baynahum (is) that an they say yaqūlū We hear samiʿ'nā and we obey wa-aṭaʿnā And those wa-ulāika [they] humu (are) the successful l-muf'liḥūna
The only statement of the [true] believers when they are called to Allāh and His Messenger to judge between them is that they say, "We hear and we obey." And those are the successful.
وَمَن And whoever waman obeys yuṭiʿi Allah l-laha and His Messenger warasūlahu and fears wayakhsha Allah l-laha and (is) conscious of Him wayattaqhi then those fa-ulāika [they] humu (are) the successful ones l-fāizūna
And whoever obeys Allāh and His Messenger and fears Allāh and is conscious of Him - it is those who are the attainers.
۞ وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ And they swear wa-aqsamū by Allah bil-lahi strong jahda their oaths aymānihim that if la-in you ordered them amartahum surely they (would) go forth layakhrujunna Say qul (Do) not lā swear tuq'simū Obedience ṭāʿatun (is) known maʿrūfatun Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is) All-Aware khabīrun of what bimā you do taʿmalūna
And they swear by Allāh their strongest oaths that if you ordered them, they would go forth [in Allāh's cause]. Say, "Do not swear. [Such] obedience is known.1 Indeed, Allāh is [fully] Aware of that which you do."
