۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you who believe yāayyuhā O you who believe alladhīna O you who believe āmanū (Do) not lā follow tattabiʿū (the) footsteps khuṭuwāti (of) the Shaitaan l-shayṭāni and whoever waman follows yattabiʿ (the) footsteps khuṭuwāti (of) the Shaitaan l-shayṭāni then indeed, he fa-innahu commands yamuru the immorality bil-faḥshāi and the evil wal-munkari And if not walawlā (for the) Grace of Allah faḍlu (for the) Grace of Allah l-lahi upon you ʿalaykum and His Mercy waraḥmatuhu not mā (would) have been pure zakā among you minkum anyone min anyone aḥadin ever abadan but walākinna Allah l-laha purifies yuzakkī whom man He wills yashāu And Allah wal-lahu (is) All-Hearer samīʿun All-Knower ʿalīmun
O you who have believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows the footsteps of Satan - indeed, he enjoins immorality and wrongdoing. And if not for the favor of Allāh upon you and His mercy, not one of you would have been pure, ever, but Allāh purifies whom He wills, and Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.
وَلَا And not walā let swear yatali those of virtue ulū those of virtue l-faḍli among you minkum and the amplitude of means wal-saʿati that an they give yu'tū (to) the near of kin ulī (to) the near of kin l-qur'bā and the needy wal-masākīna and the emigrants wal-muhājirīna in fī (the) way sabīli (of) Allah l-lahi And let them pardon walyaʿfū and let them overlook walyaṣfaḥū (Do) not alā you like tuḥibbūna that an Allah should forgive yaghfira Allah should forgive l-lahu you lakum And Allah wal-lahu (is) Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun Most Merciful raḥīmun
And let not those of virtue among you and wealth swear not to give [aid] to their relatives and the needy and the emigrants for the cause of Allāh, and let them pardon and overlook. Would you not like that Allāh should forgive you? And Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
إِنَّ Indeed inna those who alladhīna accuse yarmūna the chaste women l-muḥ'ṣanāti the unaware women l-ghāfilāti (and) the believing women l-mu'mināti are cursed luʿinū in fī the world l-dun'yā and the Hereafter wal-ākhirati And for them walahum (is) a punishment ʿadhābun great ʿaẓīmun
Indeed, those who [falsely] accuse chaste, unaware and believing women are cursed in this world and the Hereafter; and they will have a great punishment
يَوْمَ (On a) Day yawma will bear witness tashhadu against them ʿalayhim their tongues alsinatuhum and their hands wa-aydīhim and their feet wa-arjuluhum for what bimā they used kānū (to) do yaʿmalūna
On a Day when their tongues, their hands and their feet will bear witness against them as to what they used to do.
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ That Day yawma-idhin Allah will pay them in full yuwaffīhimu Allah will pay them in full l-lahu their recompense dīnahumu the due l-ḥaqa and they will know wayaʿlamūna that anna Allah l-laha He huwa (is) the Truth l-ḥaqu the Manifest l-mubīnu
That Day, Allāh will pay them in full their true [i.e., deserved] recompense, and they will know that it is Allāh who is the manifest Truth [i.e., perfect in justice].
ٱلْخَبِيثَـٰتُ Evil women al-khabīthātu (are) for evil men lil'khabīthīna and evil men wal-khabīthūna (are) for evil women lil'khabīthāti And good women wal-ṭayibātu (are) for good men lilṭṭayyibīna and good men wal-ṭayibūna (are) for good women lilṭṭayyibāti Those ulāika (are) innocent mubarraūna of what mimmā they say yaqūlūna For them lahum (is) forgiveness maghfiratun and a provision wariz'qun noble karīmun
Evil words are for evil men, and evil men are [subjected] to evil words. And good words are for good men, and good men are [an object] of good words.1 Those [good people] are declared innocent of what they [i.e., slanderers] say. For them is forgiveness and noble provision.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you yāayyuhā who alladhīna believe āmanū (Do) not lā enter tadkhulū houses buyūtan other (than) ghayra your houses buyūtikum until ḥattā you have asked permission tastanisū and you have greeted watusallimū [on] ʿalā its inhabitants ahlihā That dhālikum (is) best khayrun for you lakum so that you may laʿallakum pay heed tadhakkarūna
O you who have believed, do not enter houses other than your own houses until you ascertain welcome and greet1 their inhabitants. That is best for you; perhaps you will be reminded [i.e., advised].
