رَبِّى

كِتَـٰبٍۢ ۖ

a Record

kitābin

لَّا

Not

يَضِلُّ

errs

yaḍillu

رَبِّى

my Lord

rabbī

وَلَا

and not

walā

يَنسَى

forgets

yansā

٥٢

[Moses] said, "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a record. My Lord neither errs nor forgets."

— Saheeh International

ٱلَّذِى

The One Who

alladhī

جَعَلَ

made

jaʿala

لَكُمُ

for you

lakumu

ٱلْأَرْضَ

the earth

l-arḍa

مَهْدًۭا

(as) a bed

mahdan

وَسَلَكَ

and inserted

wasalaka

لَكُمْ

for you

lakum

فِيهَا

therein

fīhā

سُبُلًۭا

ways

subulan

وَأَنزَلَ

and sent down

wa-anzala

مِنَ

from

mina

ٱلسَّمَآءِ

the sky

l-samāi

مَآءًۭ

water

māan

فَأَخْرَجْنَا

then We (have) brought forth

fa-akhrajnā

بِهِۦٓ

with it

bihi

أَزْوَٰجًۭا

pairs

azwājan

مِّن

of

min

نَّبَاتٍۢ

plants

nabātin

شَتَّىٰ

diverse

shattā

٥٣

[It is He] who has made for you the earth as a bed [spread out] and inserted therein for you roadways and sent down from the sky, rain and produced thereby categories of various plants.

— Saheeh International

كُلُوا۟

Eat

kulū

وَٱرْعَوْا۟

and pasture

wa-ir'ʿaw

أَنْعَـٰمَكُمْ ۗ

your cattle

anʿāmakum

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

فِى

in

ذَٰلِكَ

that

dhālika

لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ

surely (are) Signs

laāyātin

لِّأُو۟لِى

for possessors

li-ulī

ٱلنُّهَىٰ

(of) intelligence

l-nuhā

٥٤

Eat [therefrom] and pasture your livestock. Indeed in that are signs for those of intelligence.

— Saheeh International

۞ مِنْهَا

From it

min'hā

خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ

We created you

khalaqnākum

وَفِيهَا

and in it

wafīhā

نُعِيدُكُمْ

We will return you

nuʿīdukum

وَمِنْهَا

and from it

wamin'hā

نُخْرِجُكُمْ

We will bring you out

nukh'rijukum

تَارَةً

time

tāratan

أُخْرَىٰ

another

ukh'rā

٥٥

From it [i.e., the earth] We created you, and into it We will return you, and from it We will extract you another time.

— Saheeh International

وَلَقَدْ

And verily

walaqad

أَرَيْنَـٰهُ

We showed him

araynāhu

ءَايَـٰتِنَا

Our Signs

āyātinā

كُلَّهَا

all of them

kullahā

فَكَذَّبَ

but he denied

fakadhaba

وَأَبَىٰ

and refused

wa-abā

٥٦

And We certainly showed him [i.e., Pharaoh] Our signs - all of them - but he denied and refused.

— Saheeh International

قَالَ

He said

qāla

أَجِئْتَنَا

Have you come to us

aji'tanā

لِتُخْرِجَنَا

to drive us out

litukh'rijanā

مِنْ

of

min

أَرْضِنَا

our land

arḍinā

بِسِحْرِكَ

with your magic

bisiḥ'rika

يَـٰمُوسَىٰ

O Musa

yāmūsā

٥٧

He said, "Have you come to us to drive us out of our land with your magic, O Moses?

— Saheeh International

فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّكَ

Then we will surely produce for you

falanatiyannaka

بِسِحْرٍۢ

magic

bisiḥ'rin

مِّثْلِهِۦ

like it

mith'lihi

فَٱجْعَلْ

So make

fa-ij'ʿal

بَيْنَنَا

between us

baynanā

وَبَيْنَكَ

and between you

wabaynaka

مَوْعِدًۭا

an appointment

mawʿidan

لَّا

not

نُخْلِفُهُۥ

we will fail it

nukh'lifuhu

نَحْنُ

[we]

naḥnu

وَلَآ

and not

walā

أَنتَ

you

anta

مَكَانًۭا

(in) a place

makānan

سُوًۭى

even

suwan

٥٨

Then we will surely bring you magic like it, so make between us and you an appointment, which we will not fail to keep and neither will you, in a place assigned."1

— Saheeh International

قَالَ

He said

qāla

مَوْعِدُكُمْ

Your appointment

mawʿidukum

يَوْمُ

(is on the) day

yawmu

ٱلزِّينَةِ

(of) the festival

l-zīnati

وَأَن

and that

wa-an

يُحْشَرَ

will be assembled

yuḥ'shara

ٱلنَّاسُ

the people

l-nāsu

ضُحًۭى

(at) forenoon

ḍuḥan

٥٩

[Moses] said, "Your appointment is on the day of the festival when the people assemble at mid-morning."1

— Saheeh International

فَتَوَلَّىٰ

Then went away

fatawallā

فِرْعَوْنُ

Firaun

fir'ʿawnu

فَجَمَعَ

and put together

fajamaʿa

كَيْدَهُۥ

his plan

kaydahu

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

أَتَىٰ

came

atā

٦٠

So Pharaoh went away, put together his plan, and then came [to Moses].

— Saheeh International

قَالَ

Said

qāla

لَهُم

to them

lahum

مُّوسَىٰ

Musa

mūsā

وَيْلَكُمْ

Woe to you

waylakum

لَا

(Do) not

تَفْتَرُوا۟

invent

taftarū

عَلَى

against

ʿalā

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

كَذِبًۭا

a lie

kadhiban

فَيُسْحِتَكُم

lest He will destroy you

fayus'ḥitakum

بِعَذَابٍۢ ۖ

with a punishment

biʿadhābin

وَقَدْ

And verily

waqad

خَابَ

he failed

khāba

مَنِ

who

mani

ٱفْتَرَىٰ

invented

if'tarā

٦١

Moses said to them [i.e., the magicians summoned by Pharaoh], "Woe to you! Do not invent a lie against Allāh or He will exterminate you with a punishment; and he has failed who invents [such falsehood]."

— Saheeh International

فَتَنَـٰزَعُوٓا۟

Then they disputed

fatanāzaʿū

أَمْرَهُم

(in) their affair

amrahum

بَيْنَهُمْ

among them

baynahum

وَأَسَرُّوا۟

and they kept secret

wa-asarrū

ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ

the private conversation

l-najwā

٦٢

So they disputed over their affair among themselves and concealed their private conversation.

— Saheeh International

قَالُوٓا۟

They said

qālū

إِنْ

Indeed

in

هَـٰذَٰنِ

these two

hādhāni

لَسَـٰحِرَٰنِ

[two] magicians

lasāḥirāni

يُرِيدَانِ

they intend

yurīdāni

أَن

that

an

يُخْرِجَاكُم

they drive you out

yukh'rijākum

مِّنْ

of

min

أَرْضِكُم

your land

arḍikum

بِسِحْرِهِمَا

with their magic

bisiḥ'rihimā

وَيَذْهَبَا

and do away

wayadhhabā

بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُ

with your way

biṭarīqatikumu

ٱلْمُثْلَىٰ

the exemplary

l-muth'lā

٦٣

They said, "Indeed, these are two magicians who want to drive you out of your land with their magic and do away with your most exemplary way [i.e., religion or tradition].

— Saheeh International

فَأَجْمِعُوا۟

So put together

fa-ajmiʿū

كَيْدَكُمْ

your plan

kaydakum

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

ٱئْتُوا۟

come

i'tū

صَفًّۭا ۚ

(in) a line

ṣaffan

وَقَدْ

And verily

waqad

أَفْلَحَ

(will be) successful

aflaḥa

ٱلْيَوْمَ

today

l-yawma

مَنِ

who

mani

ٱسْتَعْلَىٰ

overcomes

is'taʿlā

٦٤

So resolve upon your plan and then come [forward] in line. And he has succeeded today who overcomes."

— Saheeh International
