وَأَنَا

And I

wa-anā

ٱخْتَرْتُكَ

(have) chosen you

ikh'tartuka

فَٱسْتَمِعْ

so listen

fa-is'tamiʿ

لِمَا

to what

limā

يُوحَىٰٓ

is revealed

yūḥā

١٣

And I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed [to you].

— Saheeh International

إِنَّنِىٓ

Indeed, [I]

innanī

أَنَا

I Am

anā

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

لَآ

(There is) no

إِلَـٰهَ

god

ilāha

إِلَّآ

but

illā

أَنَا۠

I

anā

فَٱعْبُدْنِى

so worship Me

fa-uʿ'bud'nī

وَأَقِمِ

and establish

wa-aqimi

ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ

the prayer

l-ṣalata

لِذِكْرِىٓ

for My remembrance

lidhik'rī

١٤

Indeed, I am Allāh. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلسَّاعَةَ

the Hour

l-sāʿata

ءَاتِيَةٌ

(will be) coming

ātiyatun

أَكَادُ

I almost

akādu

أُخْفِيهَا

[I] hide it

ukh'fīhā

لِتُجْزَىٰ

that may be recompensed

lituj'zā

كُلُّ

every

kullu

نَفْسٍۭ

soul

nafsin

بِمَا

for what

bimā

تَسْعَىٰ

it strives

tasʿā

١٥

Indeed, the Hour is coming - I almost conceal it1 - so that every soul may be recompensed according to that for which it strives.

— Saheeh International

فَلَا

So (do) not

falā

يَصُدَّنَّكَ

(let) avert you

yaṣuddannaka

عَنْهَا

from it

ʿanhā

مَن

(one) who

man

لَّا

(does) not

يُؤْمِنُ

believe

yu'minu

بِهَا

in it

bihā

وَٱتَّبَعَ

and follows

wa-ittabaʿa

هَوَىٰهُ

his desires

hawāhu

فَتَرْدَىٰ

lest you perish

fatardā

١٦

So do not let one avert you from it1 who does not believe in it and follows his desire, for you [then] would perish.

— Saheeh International

وَمَا

And what

wamā

تِلْكَ

(is) that

til'ka

بِيَمِينِكَ

in your right hand

biyamīnika

يَـٰمُوسَىٰ

O Musa

yāmūsā

١٧

And what is that in your right hand, O Moses?"

— Saheeh International

قَالَ

He said

qāla

هِىَ

It

hiya

عَصَاىَ

(is) my staff

ʿaṣāya

أَتَوَكَّؤُا۟

I lean

atawakka-u

عَلَيْهَا

upon it

ʿalayhā

وَأَهُشُّ

and I bring down leaves

wa-ahushu

بِهَا

with it

bihā

عَلَىٰ

for

ʿalā

غَنَمِى

my sheep

ghanamī

وَلِىَ

and for me

waliya

فِيهَا

in it

fīhā

مَـَٔارِبُ

(are) uses

maāribu

أُخْرَىٰ

other

ukh'rā

١٨

He said, "It is my staff; I lean upon it, and I bring down leaves for my sheep and I have therein other uses."

— Saheeh International

قَالَ

He said

qāla

أَلْقِهَا

Throw it down

alqihā

يَـٰمُوسَىٰ

O Musa

yāmūsā

١٩

[Allāh] said, "Throw it down, O Moses."

— Saheeh International

فَأَلْقَىٰهَا

So he threw it down

fa-alqāhā

فَإِذَا

and behold

fa-idhā

هِىَ

It

hiya

حَيَّةٌۭ

(was) a snake

ḥayyatun

تَسْعَىٰ

moving swiftly

tasʿā

٢٠

So he threw it down, and thereupon it was a snake, moving swiftly.

— Saheeh International

قَالَ

He said

qāla

خُذْهَا

Seize it

khudh'hā

وَلَا

and (do) not

walā

تَخَفْ ۖ

fear

takhaf

سَنُعِيدُهَا

We will return it

sanuʿīduhā

سِيرَتَهَا

(to) its state

sīratahā

ٱلْأُولَىٰ

the former

l-ūlā

٢١

[Allāh] said, "Seize it and fear not; We will return it to its former condition.

— Saheeh International

وَٱضْمُمْ

And draw near

wa-uḍ'mum

يَدَكَ

your hand

yadaka

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

جَنَاحِكَ

your side

janāḥika

تَخْرُجْ

it will come out

takhruj

بَيْضَآءَ

white

bayḍāa

مِنْ

without any

min

غَيْرِ

without any

ghayri

سُوٓءٍ

disease

sūin

ءَايَةً

(as) a sign

āyatan

أُخْرَىٰ

another

ukh'rā

٢٢

And draw in your hand to your side; it will come out white without disease - another sign,

— Saheeh International

لِنُرِيَكَ

That We may show you

linuriyaka

مِنْ

of

min

ءَايَـٰتِنَا

Our Signs

āyātinā

ٱلْكُبْرَى

the Greatest

l-kub'rā

٢٣

That We may show you [some] of Our greater signs.

— Saheeh International

ٱذْهَبْ

Go

idh'hab

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

فِرْعَوْنَ

Firaun

fir'ʿawna

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, he

innahu

طَغَىٰ

(has) transgressed

ṭaghā

٢٤

Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed [i.e., tyrannized]."

— Saheeh International

قَالَ

He said

qāla

رَبِّ

My Lord

rabbi

ٱشْرَحْ

Expand

ish'raḥ

لِى

for me

صَدْرِى

my breast

ṣadrī

٢٥

[Moses] said, "My Lord, expand [i.e., relax] for me my breast [with assurance]

— Saheeh International

وَيَسِّرْ

And ease

wayassir

لِىٓ

for me

أَمْرِى

my task

amrī

٢٦

And ease for me my task

— Saheeh International

وَٱحْلُلْ

And untie

wa-uḥ'lul

عُقْدَةًۭ

(the) knot

ʿuq'datan

مِّن

from

min

لِّسَانِى

my tongue

lisānī

٢٧

And untie the knot from my tongue

— Saheeh International

يَفْقَهُوا۟

That they may understand

yafqahū

قَوْلِى

my speech

qawlī

٢٨

That they may understand my speech.

— Saheeh International

وَٱجْعَل

And appoint

wa-ij'ʿal

لِّى

for me

وَزِيرًۭا

a minister

wazīran

مِّنْ

from

min

أَهْلِى

my family

ahlī

٢٩

And appoint for me a minister [i.e., assistant] from my family -

— Saheeh International

هَـٰرُونَ

Harun

hārūna

أَخِى

my brother

akhī

٣٠

Aaron, my brother.

— Saheeh International

ٱشْدُدْ

Reinforce

ush'dud

بِهِۦٓ

through him

bihi

أَزْرِى

my strength

azrī

٣١

Increase through him my strength

— Saheeh International

وَأَشْرِكْهُ

And make him share

wa-ashrik'hu

فِىٓ

[in]

أَمْرِى

my task

amrī

٣٢

And let him share my task

— Saheeh International

كَىْ

That

kay

نُسَبِّحَكَ

we may glorify You

nusabbiḥaka

كَثِيرًۭا

much

kathīran

٣٣

That we may exalt You much

— Saheeh International

وَنَذْكُرَكَ

And [we] remember You

wanadhkuraka

كَثِيرًا

much

kathīran

٣٤

And remember You much.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّكَ

Indeed, [You]

innaka

كُنتَ

You are

kunta

بِنَا

of us

binā

بَصِيرًۭا

All-Seer

baṣīran

٣٥

Indeed, You are of us ever Seeing."

— Saheeh International

قَالَ

He said

qāla

قَدْ

Verily

qad

أُوتِيتَ

you are granted

ūtīta

سُؤْلَكَ

your request

su'laka

يَـٰمُوسَىٰ

O Musa

yāmūsā

٣٦

[Allāh] said, "You have been granted your request, O Moses.

— Saheeh International

وَلَقَدْ

And indeed

walaqad

مَنَنَّا

We conferred a favor

manannā

عَلَيْكَ

on you

ʿalayka

مَرَّةً

another time

marratan

أُخْرَىٰٓ

another time

ukh'rā

٣٧

And We had already conferred favor upon you another time,

— Saheeh International
