وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ And they ask you to hasten wayastaʿjilūnaka the evil bil-sayi-ati before qabla the good l-ḥasanati and verily waqad has occurred khalat from min before them qablihimu [the] similar punishments l-mathulātu And indeed wa-inna your Lord rabbaka (is) full ladhū (of) forgiveness maghfiratin for mankind lilnnāsi for ʿalā their wrongdoing ẓul'mihim and indeed wa-inna your Lord rabbaka (is) severe lashadīdu (in) the penalty l-ʿiqābi
They impatiently urge you to bring about evil before good,1 while there has already occurred before them similar punishments [to what they demand]. And indeed, your Lord is the possessor of forgiveness for the people despite their wrongdoing, and indeed, your Lord is severe in penalty.
وَيَقُولُ And say wayaqūlu those who alladhīna disbelieved kafarū Why not lawlā has been sent down unzila to him ʿalayhi a sign āyatun from min his Lord rabbihi Only innamā you anta (are) a warner mundhirun and for every walikulli people qawmin (is) a guide hādin
And those who disbelieved say, "Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?" You are only a warner, and for every people is a guide.
ٱللَّهُ Allah al-lahu knows yaʿlamu what mā carries taḥmilu every kullu female unthā and what wamā fall short taghīḍu the womb l-arḥāmu and what wamā they exceed tazdādu And every wakullu thing shayin with Him ʿindahu (is) in due proportion bimiq'dārin
Allāh knows what every female carries1 and what the wombs lose [prematurely] or exceed.2 And everything with Him is by due measure.
عَـٰلِمُ Knower ʿālimu (of) the unseen l-ghaybi and the witnessed wal-shahādati the Most Great l-kabīru the Most High l-mutaʿāli
[He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Grand, the Exalted.
سَوَآءٌۭ (It is) same (to Him) sawāon [of you] minkum (one) who man conceals asarra the speech l-qawla or (one) who waman publicizes jahara it bihi and (one) who waman [he] huwa (is) hidden mus'takhfin by night bi-al-layli or goes freely wasāribun by day bil-nahāri
It is the same [to Him] concerning you whether one conceals [his] speech or publicizes it and whether one is hidden by night or conspicuous [among others] by day.
لَهُۥ For him lahu (are) successive (Angels) muʿaqqibātun from min (before) bayni (him) yadayhi and from wamin and behind him khalfihi who guard him yaḥfaẓūnahu by min (the) command amri (of) Allah l-lahi Indeed inna Allah l-laha (does) not lā change yughayyiru (the condition) mā of a people biqawmin until ḥattā they change yughayyirū what mā (is) in themselves bi-anfusihim And when wa-idhā wills arāda Allah l-lahu for a people biqawmin misfortune sūan then (there is) no falā turning away maradda of it lahu and not wamā for them lahum from min besides Him dūnihi any min protector wālin
For him [i.e., each one] are successive [angels]1 before and behind him who protect him by the decree of Allāh.2 Indeed, Allāh will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. And when Allāh intends for a people ill,3 there is no repelling it. And there is not for them besides Him any patron.
هُوَ He huwa (is) the One Who alladhī shows you yurīkumu the lightning l-barqa a fear khawfan and a hope waṭamaʿan and brings up wayunshi-u the clouds l-saḥāba the heavy l-thiqāla
It is He who shows you lightning, [causing] fear and aspiration, and generates the heavy clouds.
وَيُسَبِّحُ And glorifies wayusabbiḥu the thunder l-raʿdu with his praise biḥamdihi and the Angels wal-malāikatu for min fear of Him khīfatihi And He sends wayur'silu the thunderbolts l-ṣawāʿiqa and strikes fayuṣību with it bihā whom man He wills yashāu yet they wahum dispute yujādilūna about fī Allah l-lahi And He wahuwa (is) Mighty shadīdu (in) Strength l-miḥāli
And the thunder exalts [Allāh] with praise of Him - and the angels [as well] from fear of Him - and He sends thunderbolts and strikes therewith whom He wills while they dispute about Allāh; and He is severe in assault.
