وَلَا

And (do) not

walā

تَقُولُوا۟

say

taqūlū

لِمَن

for (the ones) who

liman

يُقْتَلُ

are slain

yuq'talu

فِى

in

سَبِيلِ

(the) way

sabīli

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

أَمْوَٰتٌۢ ۚ

(They are) dead

amwātun

بَلْ

Nay

bal

أَحْيَآءٌۭ

(they are) alive

aḥyāon

وَلَـٰكِن

[and] but

walākin

لَّا

you (do) not

تَشْعُرُونَ

perceive

tashʿurūna

١٥٤

And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allāh, "They are dead." Rather, they are alive, but you perceive [it] not.

— Saheeh International

وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُم

And surely We will test you

walanabluwannakum

بِشَىْءٍۢ

with something

bishayin

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلْخَوْفِ

[the] fear

l-khawfi

وَٱلْجُوعِ

and [the] hunger

wal-jūʿi

وَنَقْصٍۢ

and loss

wanaqṣin

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلْأَمْوَٰلِ

[the] wealth

l-amwāli

وَٱلْأَنفُسِ

and [the] lives

wal-anfusi

وَٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ ۗ

and [the] fruits

wal-thamarāti

وَبَشِّرِ

but give good news

wabashiri

ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ

(to) the patient ones

l-ṣābirīna

١٥٥

And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient,

— Saheeh International

ٱلَّذِينَ

Those who

alladhīna

إِذَآ

when

idhā

أَصَـٰبَتْهُم

strikes them

aṣābathum

مُّصِيبَةٌۭ

a misfortune

muṣībatun

قَالُوٓا۟

they say

qālū

إِنَّا

Indeed, we

innā

لِلَّهِ

belong to Allah

lillahi

وَإِنَّآ

and indeed we

wa-innā

إِلَيْهِ

towards Him

ilayhi

رَٰجِعُونَ

will return

rājiʿūna

١٥٦

Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allāh, and indeed to Him we will return."

— Saheeh International

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

Those

ulāika

عَلَيْهِمْ

on them

ʿalayhim

صَلَوَٰتٌۭ

(are) blessings

ṣalawātun

مِّن

from

min

رَّبِّهِمْ

their Lord

rabbihim

وَرَحْمَةٌۭ ۖ

and Mercy

waraḥmatun

وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

And those

wa-ulāika

هُمُ

[they]

humu

ٱلْمُهْتَدُونَ

(are) the guided ones

l-muh'tadūna

١٥٧

Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided.

— Saheeh International

۞ إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلصَّفَا

the Safa

l-ṣafā

وَٱلْمَرْوَةَ

and the Marwah

wal-marwata

مِن

(are) from

min

شَعَآئِرِ

(the) symbols

shaʿāiri

ٱللَّهِ ۖ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

فَمَنْ

So whoever

faman

حَجَّ

performs Hajj

ḥajja

ٱلْبَيْتَ

(of) the House

l-bayta

أَوِ

or

awi

ٱعْتَمَرَ

performs Umrah

iʿ'tamara

فَلَا

so no

falā

جُنَاحَ

blame

junāḥa

عَلَيْهِ

on him

ʿalayhi

أَن

that

an

يَطَّوَّفَ

he walks

yaṭṭawwafa

بِهِمَا ۚ

between [both of] them

bihimā

وَمَن

And whoever

waman

تَطَوَّعَ

voluntarily does

taṭawwaʿa

خَيْرًۭا

good

khayran

فَإِنَّ

then indeed

fa-inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

شَاكِرٌ

(is) All-Appreciative

shākirun

عَلِيمٌ

All-Knowing

ʿalīmun

١٥٨

Indeed, aṣ-Ṣafā and al-Marwah are among the symbols1 of Allāh. So whoever makes ḥajj [pilgrimage] to the House or performs ʿumrah - there is no blame upon him for walking between them.2 And whoever volunteers good - then indeed, Allāh is Appreciative3 and Knowing.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

يَكْتُمُونَ

conceal

yaktumūna

مَآ

what

أَنزَلْنَا

We revealed

anzalnā

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ

the clear proofs

l-bayināti

وَٱلْهُدَىٰ

and the Guidance

wal-hudā

مِنۢ

from

min

بَعْدِ

after

baʿdi

مَا

[what]

بَيَّنَّـٰهُ

We made clear

bayyannāhu

لِلنَّاسِ

to the people

lilnnāsi

فِى

in

ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ۙ

the Book

l-kitābi

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

those

ulāika

يَلْعَنُهُمُ

curses them

yalʿanuhumu

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

وَيَلْعَنُهُمُ

and curse them

wayalʿanuhumu

ٱللَّـٰعِنُونَ

the ones who curse

l-lāʿinūna

١٥٩

Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance after We made it clear for the people in the Scripture - those are cursed by Allāh and cursed by those who curse,1

— Saheeh International

إِلَّا

Except

illā

ٱلَّذِينَ

those

alladhīna

تَابُوا۟

who repent[ed]

tābū

وَأَصْلَحُوا۟

and reform[ed]

wa-aṣlaḥū

وَبَيَّنُوا۟

and openly declar[ed]

wabayyanū

فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

Then those

fa-ulāika

أَتُوبُ

I will accept repentance

atūbu

عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ

from them

ʿalayhim

وَأَنَا

and I (am)

wa-anā

ٱلتَّوَّابُ

the Acceptor of Repentance

l-tawābu

ٱلرَّحِيمُ

the Most Merciful

l-raḥīmu

١٦٠

Except for those who repent and correct themselves and make evident [what they concealed]. Those - I will accept their repentance, and I am the Accepting of Repentance,1 the Merciful.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟

disbelieve[d]

kafarū

وَمَاتُوا۟

and die[d]

wamātū

وَهُمْ

while they

wahum

كُفَّارٌ

(were) disbelievers

kuffārun

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

those

ulāika

عَلَيْهِمْ

on them

ʿalayhim

لَعْنَةُ

(is the) curse

laʿnatu

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ

and the Angels

wal-malāikati

وَٱلنَّاسِ

and the mankind

wal-nāsi

أَجْمَعِينَ

all together

ajmaʿīna

١٦١

Indeed, those who disbelieve and die while they are disbelievers - upon them will be the curse of Allāh and of the angels and the people, all together,

— Saheeh International

خَـٰلِدِينَ

(Will) abide forever

khālidīna

فِيهَا ۖ

in it

fīhā

لَا

Not

يُخَفَّفُ

will be lightened

yukhaffafu

عَنْهُمُ

for them

ʿanhumu

ٱلْعَذَابُ

the punishment

l-ʿadhābu

وَلَا

and not

walā

هُمْ

they

hum

يُنظَرُونَ

will be reprieved

yunẓarūna

١٦٢

Abiding eternally therein. The punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved.

— Saheeh International

وَإِلَـٰهُكُمْ

And your God

wa-ilāhukum

إِلَـٰهٌۭ

(is) God

ilāhun

وَٰحِدٌۭ ۖ

one (only)

wāḥidun

لَّآ

(there is) no

إِلَـٰهَ

god

ilāha

إِلَّا

except

illā

هُوَ

Him

huwa

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ

the Most Gracious

l-raḥmānu

ٱلرَّحِيمُ

the Most Merciful

l-raḥīmu

١٦٣

And your god is one God. There is no deity [worthy of worship] except Him, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

— Saheeh International
