قَالَ He said qāla Verily qad has been answered ujībat (the) invocation of both of you daʿwatukumā So you two (keep to the) straight way fa-is'taqīmā And (do) not walā follow tattabiʿānni (the) way sabīla (of) those who alladhīna (do) not lā know yaʿlamūna
[Allāh] said, "Your supplication has been answered."1 So remain on a right course and follow not the way of those who do not know."
۞ وَجَـٰوَزْنَا And We took across wajāwaznā (the) Children bibanī (of) Israel is'rāīla the sea l-baḥra and followed them fa-atbaʿahum Firaun fir'ʿawnu and his hosts wajunūduhu (in) rebellion baghyan and enmity waʿadwan until ḥattā when idhā overtook him adrakahu the drowning l-gharaqu he said qāla I believe āmantu that annahu (there is) no lā god ilāha except illā the One alladhī in Whom believe āmanat in Whom believe bihi the Children of Israel banū the Children of Israel is'rāīla and I am wa-anā of mina the Muslims l-mus'limīna
And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, "I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of the Muslims."
ءَآلْـَٔـٰنَ Now āl'āna And verily waqad you (had) disobeyed ʿaṣayta before qablu and you were wakunta of mina the corrupters l-muf'sidīna
Now? And you had disobeyed [Him] before and were of the corrupters?
فَٱلْيَوْمَ So today fal-yawma We will save you nunajjīka in your body bibadanika that you may be litakūna for (those) who liman succeed you khalfaka a sign āyatan And indeed wa-inna many kathīran among mina the mankind l-nāsi of ʿan Our Signs āyātinā (are) surely heedless laghāfilūna
So today We will save you in body1 that you may be to those who succeed you a sign. And indeed, many among the people, of Our signs, are heedless.
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad We settled bawwanā (the) Children banī (of) Israel is'rāīla (in) a settlement mubawwa-a honorable ṣid'qin and We provided them warazaqnāhum with mina the good things l-ṭayibāti and not famā they differ ikh'talafū until ḥattā came to them jāahumu the knowledge l-ʿil'mu Indeed inna your Lord rabbaka will judge yaqḍī between them baynahum (on) the Day yawma (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati concerning what fīmā they used (to) kānū [in it] fīhi differ yakhtalifūna
And We had certainly settled the Children of Israel in an agreeable settlement and provided them with good things. And they did not differ until [after] knowledge had come to them. Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.
فَإِن So if fa-in you are kunta in fī doubt shakkin of what mimmā We have revealed anzalnā to you ilayka then ask fasali those who alladhīna (have been) reading yaqraūna the Book l-kitāba before you min before you qablika Verily laqad has come to you jāaka the truth l-ḥaqu from min your Lord rabbika so (do) not falā be takūnanna among mina the doubters l-mum'tarīna
So if you are in doubt, [O Muḥammad], about that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your Lord, so never be among the doubters.
وَلَا And (do) not walā be takūnanna of mina those who alladhīna deny kadhabū (the) Signs of Allah biāyāti (the) Signs of Allah l-lahi then you will be fatakūna among mina the losers l-khāsirīna
And never be of those who deny the signs of Allāh and [thus] be among the losers.1
إِنَّ Indeed inna those [whom] alladhīna has become due ḥaqqat on them ʿalayhim (the) Word kalimatu (of) your Lord rabbika will not lā believe yu'minūna
Indeed, those upon whom the word [i.e., decree] of your Lord has come into effect will not believe,
وَلَوْ Even if walaw comes to them jāathum every kullu Sign āyatin until ḥattā they see yarawū the punishment l-ʿadhāba the painful l-alīma
Even if every sign should come to them, until they see the painful punishment.
