۞ وَٱتْلُ And recite wa-ut'lu to them ʿalayhim the news naba-a (of) Nuh nūḥin when idh he said qāla to his people liqawmihi O my people yāqawmi If in is kāna hard kabura on you ʿalaykum my stay maqāmī and my reminding watadhkīrī the Signs of Allah biāyāti the Signs of Allah l-lahi then on faʿalā Allah l-lahi I put my trust tawakkaltu So you all resolve fa-ajmiʿū your plan amrakum and your partners washurakāakum Then thumma let not be lā let not be yakun (in) your plan amrukum for you ʿalaykum any doubt ghummatan Then thumma carry (it out) iq'ḍū upon me ilayya and (do) not walā give me respite tunẓirūni
And recite to them the news of Noah, when he said to his people, "O my people, if my residence and my reminding of the signs of Allāh has become burdensome upon you - then I have relied upon Allāh. So resolve upon your plan and [call upon] your associates. Then let not your plan be obscure to you.1 Then carry it out upon me and do not give me respite.
فَإِن But if fa-in you turn away tawallaytum then not famā I have asked you sa-altukum any min reward ajrin Not in (is) my reward ajriya but illā on ʿalā Allah l-lahi and I have been commanded wa-umir'tu that an I be akūna of mina the Muslims l-mus'limīna
And if you turn away [from my advice] - then no payment have I asked of you. My reward is only from Allāh, and I have been commanded to be of the Muslims [i.e., those who submit to Allāh]."
فَكَذَّبُوهُ But they denied him fakadhabūhu so We saved him fanajjaynāhu and (those) who waman (were) with him maʿahu in fī the ship l-ful'ki and We made them wajaʿalnāhum successors khalāifa and We drowned wa-aghraqnā those who alladhīna denied kadhabū Our Signs biāyātinā Then see fa-unẓur how kayfa was kāna (the) end ʿāqibatu (of) those who were warned l-mundharīna
And they denied him, so We saved him and those with him in the ship and made them successors, and We drowned those who denied Our signs. Then see how was the end of those who were warned.
ثُمَّ Then thumma We sent baʿathnā after him min after him baʿdihi Messengers rusulan to ilā their people qawmihim and they came to them fajāūhum with clear proofs bil-bayināti But not famā they were kānū to believe liyu'minū what bimā they had denied kadhabū [it] bihi before min before qablu Thus kadhālika We seal naṭbaʿu [on] ʿalā the hearts qulūbi (of) the transgressors l-muʿ'tadīna
Then We sent after him messengers to their peoples, and they came to them with clear proofs. But they were not to believe in that which they had denied before.1 Thus We seal over the hearts of the transgressors.
ثُمَّ Then thumma We sent baʿathnā after them min after them baʿdihim Musa mūsā and Harun wahārūna to ilā Firaun fir'ʿawna and his chiefs wamala-ihi with Our Signs biāyātinā but they were arrogant fa-is'takbarū and were wakānū a people qawman criminal muj'rimīna
Then We sent after them Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his establishment with Our signs, but they behaved arrogantly and were a criminal people.
فَلَمَّا So when falammā came to them jāahumu the truth l-ḥaqu from Us min from Us ʿindinā they said qālū Indeed inna this hādhā (is) surely, a magic lasiḥ'run clear mubīnun
So when there came to them the truth from Us, they said, "Indeed, this is obvious magic."
قَالَ Musa said qāla Musa said mūsā Do you say ataqūlūna about the truth lil'ḥaqqi when lammā it has come to you jāakum Is this magic asiḥ'run Is this magic hādhā But (will) not walā succeed yuf'liḥu the magicians l-sāḥirūna
Moses said, "Do you say [thus] about the truth when it has come to you? Is this magic? But magicians will not succeed."
قَالُوٓا۟ They said qālū Have you come to us aji'tanā to turn us away litalfitanā from that ʿammā we found wajadnā on it ʿalayhi our forefathers ābāanā and you two (may) have watakūna and you two (may) have lakumā the greatness l-kib'riyāu in fī the land l-arḍi And we (are) not wamā And we (are) not naḥnu (in) you two lakumā believers bimu'minīna
They said, "Have you come to us to turn us away from that upon which we found our fathers and so that you two may have grandeur in the land? And we are not believers in you."
