وَمِنْهُم

And among them

wamin'hum

مَّن

(are some) who

man

يَنظُرُ

look

yanẓuru

إِلَيْكَ ۚ

at you

ilayka

أَفَأَنتَ

But (can) you

afa-anta

تَهْدِى

guide

tahdī

ٱلْعُمْىَ

the blind

l-ʿum'ya

وَلَوْ

even though

walaw

كَانُوا۟

they [were]

kānū

لَا

(do) not

يُبْصِرُونَ

see

yub'ṣirūna

٤٣

And among them are those who look at you. But can you guide the blind although they will not [attempt to] see?

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

لَا

(does) not

يَظْلِمُ

wrong

yaẓlimu

ٱلنَّاسَ

the people

l-nāsa

شَيْـًۭٔا

(in) anything

shayan

وَلَـٰكِنَّ

but

walākinna

ٱلنَّاسَ

the people

l-nāsa

أَنفُسَهُمْ

wrong themselves

anfusahum

يَظْلِمُونَ

wrong themselves

yaẓlimūna

٤٤

Indeed, Allāh does not wrong the people at all, but it is the people who are wronging themselves.

— Saheeh International

وَيَوْمَ

And the Day

wayawma

يَحْشُرُهُمْ

He will gather them

yaḥshuruhum

كَأَن

as if

ka-an

لَّمْ

they had not remained

lam

يَلْبَثُوٓا۟

they had not remained

yalbathū

إِلَّا

except

illā

سَاعَةًۭ

an hour

sāʿatan

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلنَّهَارِ

the day

l-nahāri

يَتَعَارَفُونَ

they will recognize each other

yataʿārafūna

بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ

between them

baynahum

قَدْ

Certainly

qad

خَسِرَ

(will have) lost

khasira

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

كَذَّبُوا۟

denied

kadhabū

بِلِقَآءِ

the meeting

biliqāi

ٱللَّهِ

(with) Allah

l-lahi

وَمَا

and not

wamā

كَانُوا۟

they were

kānū

مُهْتَدِينَ

the guided ones

muh'tadīna

٤٥

And on the Day when He will gather them, [it will be] as if they had not remained [in the world] but an hour of the day, [and] they will know each other. Those will have lost who denied the meeting with Allāh and were not guided.

— Saheeh International

وَإِمَّا

And whether

wa-immā

نُرِيَنَّكَ

We show you

nuriyannaka

بَعْضَ

some

baʿḍa

ٱلَّذِى

(of) that which

alladhī

نَعِدُهُمْ

We promised them

naʿiduhum

أَوْ

or

aw

نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ

We cause you to die

natawaffayannaka

فَإِلَيْنَا

then to Us

fa-ilaynā

مَرْجِعُهُمْ

(is) their return

marjiʿuhum

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

شَهِيدٌ

(is) a Witness

shahīdun

عَلَىٰ

over

ʿalā

مَا

what

يَفْعَلُونَ

they do

yafʿalūna

٤٦

And whether We show you some of what We promise them, [O Muḥammad], or We take you in death, to Us is their return; then, [either way], Allāh is a witness concerning what they are doing.

— Saheeh International

وَلِكُلِّ

And for every

walikulli

أُمَّةٍۢ

nation

ummatin

رَّسُولٌۭ ۖ

(is) a Messenger

rasūlun

فَإِذَا

So when

fa-idhā

جَآءَ

comes

jāa

رَسُولُهُمْ

their Messenger

rasūluhum

قُضِىَ

it will be judged

quḍiya

بَيْنَهُم

between them

baynahum

بِٱلْقِسْطِ

in justice

bil-qis'ṭi

وَهُمْ

and they

wahum

لَا

(will) not

يُظْلَمُونَ

be wronged

yuẓ'lamūna

٤٧

And for every nation is a messenger. So when their messenger comes,1 it will be judged between them in justice, and they will not be wronged.

— Saheeh International

وَيَقُولُونَ

And they say

wayaqūlūna

مَتَىٰ

When

matā

هَـٰذَا

(will) this

hādhā

ٱلْوَعْدُ

the promise (be fulfilled)

l-waʿdu

إِن

if

in

كُنتُمْ

you are

kuntum

صَـٰدِقِينَ

truthful

ṣādiqīna

٤٨

And they say, "When is [the fulfillment of] this promise, if you should be truthful?"

— Saheeh International

قُل

Say

qul

لَّآ

Not

أَمْلِكُ

I have power

amliku

لِنَفْسِى

for myself

linafsī

ضَرًّۭا

(for) any harm

ḍarran

وَلَا

and not

walā

نَفْعًا

(for) any profit

nafʿan

إِلَّا

except

illā

مَا

what

شَآءَ

Allah wills

shāa

ٱللَّهُ ۗ

Allah wills

l-lahu

لِكُلِّ

For every

likulli

أُمَّةٍ

nation

ummatin

أَجَلٌ ۚ

(is) a term

ajalun

إِذَا

When

idhā

جَآءَ

comes

jāa

أَجَلُهُمْ

their term

ajaluhum

فَلَا

then not

falā

يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ

they remain behind

yastakhirūna

سَاعَةًۭ ۖ

an hour

sāʿatan

وَلَا

and not

walā

يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ

they can precede (it)

yastaqdimūna

٤٩

Say, "I possess not for myself any harm or benefit except what Allāh should will. For every nation is a [specified] term. When their time has come, then they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it]."

— Saheeh International

قُلْ

Say

qul

أَرَءَيْتُمْ

Do you see

ara-aytum

إِنْ

if

in

أَتَىٰكُمْ

comes to you

atākum

عَذَابُهُۥ

His punishment

ʿadhābuhu

بَيَـٰتًا

(by) night

bayātan

أَوْ

or

aw

نَهَارًۭا

(by) day

nahāran

مَّاذَا

what (portion)

mādhā

يَسْتَعْجِلُ

of it would (wish to) hasten

yastaʿjilu

مِنْهُ

of it would (wish to) hasten

min'hu

ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ

the criminals

l-muj'rimūna

٥٠

Say, "Have you considered: if His punishment should come to you by night or by day - for which [aspect] of it would the criminals be impatient?"1

— Saheeh International

أَثُمَّ

Is (it) then

athumma

إِذَا

when

idhā

مَا

when

وَقَعَ

(it had) occurred

waqaʿa

ءَامَنتُم

you (will) believe

āmantum

بِهِۦٓ ۚ

in it

bihi

ءَآلْـَٔـٰنَ

Now

āl'āna

وَقَدْ

And certainly

waqad

كُنتُم

you were

kuntum

بِهِۦ

seeking to hasten it

bihi

تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ

seeking to hasten it

tastaʿjilūna

٥١

Then is it that when it has [actually] occurred you will believe in it? Now?1 And you were [once] for it impatient.2

— Saheeh International

ثُمَّ

Then

thumma

قِيلَ

it will be said

qīla

لِلَّذِينَ

to those who

lilladhīna

ظَلَمُوا۟

wronged

ẓalamū

ذُوقُوا۟

Taste

dhūqū

عَذَابَ

punishment

ʿadhāba

ٱلْخُلْدِ

the everlasting

l-khul'di

هَلْ

Are you (being) recompensed

hal

تُجْزَوْنَ

Are you (being) recompensed

tuj'zawna

إِلَّا

except

illā

بِمَا

for what

bimā

كُنتُمْ

you used (to)

kuntum

تَكْسِبُونَ

earn

taksibūna

٥٢

Then it will be said to those who had wronged, "Taste the punishment of eternity; are you being recompensed except for what you used to earn?"

— Saheeh International

۞ وَيَسْتَنۢبِـُٔونَكَ

And they ask you to inform

wayastanbiūnaka

أَحَقٌّ

Is it true

aḥaqqun

هُوَ ۖ

Is it true

huwa

قُلْ

Say

qul

إِى

Yes

ī

وَرَبِّىٓ

by my Lord

warabbī

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, it

innahu

لَحَقٌّۭ ۖ

(is) surely the truth

laḥaqqun

وَمَآ

and not

wamā

أَنتُم

you

antum

بِمُعْجِزِينَ

(can) escape (it)

bimuʿ'jizīna

٥٣

And they ask information of you, [O Muḥammad], "Is it true?" Say, "Yes, by my Lord. Indeed, it is truth; and you will not cause failure [to Allāh]."
