قُل Say qul Not lā I have power amliku for myself linafsī (to) benefit nafʿan and no walā (power to) harm ḍarran except illā what mā wills shāa Allah l-lahu And if walaw I would kuntu know aʿlamu (of) the unseen l-ghayba surely I could have multiplied la-is'takthartu of mina the good l-khayri and not wamā (could) have touched me massaniya the evil l-sūu Not in (am) I anā except illā a warner nadhīrun and a bearer of good tidings wabashīrun to a people liqawmin who believe yu'minūna
Say, "I hold not for myself [the power of] benefit or harm, except what Allāh has willed. And if I knew the unseen, I could have acquired much wealth, and no harm would have touched me. I am not except a warner and a bringer of good tidings to a people who believe."
۞ هُوَ He huwa (is) the One Who alladhī created you khalaqakum from min a soul nafsin single wāḥidatin and made wajaʿala from it min'hā its mate zawjahā that he might live liyaskuna with her ilayhā And when falammā he covers her taghashāhā she carries ḥamalat a burden ḥamlan light khafīfan and continues famarrat with it bihi But when falammā she grows heavy athqalat they both invoke daʿawā Allah l-laha their Lord rabbahumā If la-in You give us ātaytanā a righteous (child) ṣāliḥan surely we will be lanakūnanna among mina the thankful l-shākirīna
It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he1 might dwell in security with her. And when he [i.e., man] covers her,2 she carries a light burden [i.e., a pregnancy] and continues therein. And when it becomes heavy, they both invoke Allāh, their Lord, "If You should give us a good3 [child], we will surely be among the grateful."
فَلَمَّآ But when falammā He gives them ātāhumā a good, (child) ṣāliḥan they make jaʿalā for Him lahu partners shurakāa in what fīmā He has given them ātāhumā But exalted fataʿālā (is) Allah l-lahu above what ʿammā they associate (with Him) yush'rikūna
But when He gives them a good [child], they1 ascribe partners to Him concerning that which He has given them. Exalted is Allāh above what they associate with Him.
أَيُشْرِكُونَ Do they associate ayush'rikūna what mā (can) not lā create yakhluqu anything shayan and they wahum are created yukh'laqūna
Do they associate with Him those who create nothing and they are [themselves] created?
وَلَا And not walā they are able yastaṭīʿūna to (give) them lahum any help naṣran and not walā themselves anfusahum can they help yanṣurūna
And they [i.e., the false deities] are unable to [give] them help, nor can they help themselves.
وَإِن And if wa-in you call them tadʿūhum to ilā the guidance l-hudā not lā will they follow you yattabiʿūkum (It is) same sawāon for you ʿalaykum whether you call them adaʿawtumūhum or am you antum remain silent ṣāmitūna
And if you [believers] invite them to guidance, they will not follow you. It is all the same for you whether you invite them or you are silent.
إِنَّ Indeed inna those whom alladhīna you call tadʿūna from min besides dūni Allah l-lahi (are) slaves ʿibādun like you amthālukum So invoke them fa-id'ʿūhum and let them respond falyastajībū to you lakum if in you are kuntum truthful ṣādiqīna
Indeed, those you [polytheists] call upon besides Allāh are servants [i.e., creations] like you. So call upon them and let them respond to you, if you should be truthful.
أَلَهُمْ Are for them alahum feet arjulun (to) walk yamshūna with [it] bihā or am for them lahum hands aydin (to) hold yabṭishūna with [it] bihā or am for them lahum eyes aʿyunun (to) see yub'ṣirūna with [it] bihā or am for them lahum ears ādhānun (to) hear yasmaʿūna with [it] bihā Say quli Call id'ʿū your partners shurakāakum then thumma scheme against me kīdūni and (do) not falā give me respite tunẓirūni
Do they have feet by which they walk? Or do they have hands by which they strike? Or do they have eyes by which they see? Or do they have ears by which they hear? Say, [O Muḥammad], "Call your 'partners' and then conspire against me and give me no respite.
