وَمَا And not wamā was kāna (the) answer jawāba (of) his people qawmihi except illā that an they said qālū Drive them out akhrijūhum of min your town qaryatikum Indeed, they innahum (are) people unāsun who keep themselves pure yataṭahharūna
But the answer of his people was only that they said, "Evict them from your city! Indeed, they are men who keep themselves pure."
فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُ So We saved him fa-anjaynāhu and his family wa-ahlahu except illā his wife im'ra-atahu she was kānat of mina those who stayed behind l-ghābirīna
So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; she was of those who remained [with the evildoers].
وَأَمْطَرْنَا And We showered wa-amṭarnā upon them ʿalayhim a rain maṭaran So see fa-unẓur how kayfa was kāna (the) end ʿāqibatu (of) the criminals l-muj'rimīna
And We rained upon them a rain [of stones]. Then see how was the end of the criminals.
وَإِلَىٰ And to wa-ilā Madyan madyana his brother akhāhum Shuaib shuʿayban He said qāla O my people yāqawmi Worship uʿ'budū Allah l-laha not mā for you lakum any min god ilāhin other than Him ghayruhu Verily qad has came to you jāatkum a clear proof bayyinatun from min your Lord rabbikum So give full fa-awfū [the] measure l-kayla and the weight wal-mīzāna and (do) not walā deprive tabkhasū [the] people l-nāsa in their things ashyāahum and (do) not walā cause corruption tuf'sidū in fī the earth l-arḍi after baʿda its reformation iṣ'lāḥihā That dhālikum (is) better khayrun for you lakum if in you are kuntum believers mu'minīna
And to [the people of] Madyan [We sent] their brother Shuʿayb. He said, "O my people, worship Allāh; you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. So fulfill the measure and weight and do not deprive people of their due and cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. That is better for you, if you should be believers.
وَلَا And (do) not walā sit taqʿudū on every bikulli path ṣirāṭin threatening tūʿidūna and hindering wataṣuddūna from ʿan (the) way sabīli (of) Allah l-lahi (those) who man believe āmana in Him bihi and seeking (to make) it watabghūnahā crooked ʿiwajan And remember wa-udh'kurū when idh you were kuntum few qalīlan and He increased you fakatharakum And see wa-unẓurū how kayfa was kāna (the) end ʿāqibatu (of) the corrupters l-muf'sidīna
And do not sit on every path, threatening and averting from the way of Allāh those who believe in Him, seeking to make it [seem] deviant. And remember when you were few and He increased you. And see how was the end of the corrupters.
وَإِن And if wa-in (there) is kāna a group ṭāifatun among you minkum (who has) believed āmanū in that which bi-alladhī I have been sent ur'sil'tu with [it] bihi and a group waṭāifatun not lam they believe yu'minū then be patient fa-iṣ'birū until ḥattā judges yaḥkuma Allah l-lahu between us baynanā And He wahuwa (is the) Best khayru (of) [the] Judges l-ḥākimīna
And if there should be a group among you who has believed in that with which I have been sent and a group that has not believed, then be patient until Allāh judges between us. And He is the best of judges."
