يُرِيدُونَ They will wish yurīdūna that an they come out yakhrujū of mina the Fire l-nāri but not wamā they hum will come out bikhārijīna of it min'hā And for them walahum (is) a punishment ʿadhābun lasting muqīmun
They will wish to get out of the Fire, but never are they to emerge therefrom, and for them is an enduring punishment.
وَٱلسَّارِقُ And (for) the male thief wal-sāriqu and the female thief wal-sāriqatu [then] cut off fa-iq'ṭaʿū their hands aydiyahumā (as) a recompense jazāan for what bimā they earned kasabā (as) an exemplary (punishment) nakālan from mina Allah l-lahi And Allah wal-lahu (is) All-Mighty ʿazīzun All-Wise ḥakīmun
[As for] the thief, the male and the female, amputate their hands in recompense for what they earned [i.e., committed] as a deterrent [punishment] from Allāh. And Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.
فَمَن But whoever faman repented tāba from min after baʿdi his wrongdoing ẓul'mihi and reforms wa-aṣlaḥa then indeed fa-inna Allah l-laha will turn in forgiveness yatūbu to him ʿalayhi Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is) Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun Most Merciful raḥīmun
But whoever repents after his wrongdoing and reforms, indeed, Allāh will turn to him in forgiveness. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
أَلَمْ Do not alam you know taʿlam that anna Allah l-laha to Him (belongs) lahu (the) dominion mul'ku (of) the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi He punishes yuʿadhibu whom man He wills yashāu and He forgives wayaghfiru [to] whom liman He wills yashāu And Allah wal-lahu (is) on ʿalā every kulli thing shayin All-Powerful qadīrun
Do you not know that to Allāh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth? He punishes whom He wills and forgives whom He wills, and Allāh is over all things competent.
۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O yāayyuhā Messenger l-rasūlu Let not lā grieve you yaḥzunka those who alladhīna hasten yusāriʿūna in (to) fī [the] disbelief l-kuf'ri of mina those who alladhīna said qālū We believe āmannā with their mouths bi-afwāhihim and not walam believe tu'min their hearts qulūbuhum and from wamina those who alladhīna (are) Jews hādū They (are) listeners sammāʿūna to falsehood lil'kadhibi (and) listeners sammāʿūna for people liqawmin other ākharīna (who have) not lam come to you yatūka They distort yuḥarrifūna the words l-kalima from min after baʿdi their context mawāḍiʿihi saying yaqūlūna If in you are given ūtītum this hādhā [so] take it fakhudhūhu but if wa-in not lam you are given it tu'tawhu then beware fa-iḥ'dharū And (for) whom waman intends yuridi Allah l-lahu his trial fit'natahu then never falan will you have power tamlika for him lahu against mina Allah l-lahi anything shayan Those ulāika (are) the ones alladhīna never lam will intend yuridi Allah l-lahu that an He purifies yuṭahhira their hearts qulūbahum For them lahum in fī the world l-dun'yā (is) disgrace khiz'yun and for them walahum in fī the Hereafter l-ākhirati (is) a punishment ʿadhābun great ʿaẓīmun
O Messenger, let them not grieve you who hasten into disbelief of those who say, "We believe" with their mouths, but their hearts believe not, and from among the Jews. [They are] avid listeners to falsehood, listening to another people who have not come to you.1 They distort words beyond their [proper] places [i.e., usages], saying, "If you are given this,2 take it; but if you are not given it, then beware." But he for whom Allāh intends fitnah3 - never will you possess [power to do] for him a thing against Allāh. Those are the ones for whom Allāh does not intend to purify their hearts. For them in this world is disgrace, and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment.
