Al-'Infiţār

The Cleaving

الإنفطار

إِذَا

When

idhā

ٱلسَّمَآءُ

the sky

l-samāu

ٱنفَطَرَتْ

(is) cleft asunder

infaṭarat

١

When the sky breaks apart

— Saheeh International

وَإِذَا

And when

wa-idhā

ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ

the stars

l-kawākibu

ٱنتَثَرَتْ

scatter

intatharat

٢

And when the stars fall, scattering,

— Saheeh International

وَإِذَا

And when

wa-idhā

ٱلْبِحَارُ

the seas

l-biḥāru

فُجِّرَتْ

are made to gush forth

fujjirat

٣

And when the seas are erupted

— Saheeh International

وَإِذَا

And when

wa-idhā

ٱلْقُبُورُ

the graves

l-qubūru

بُعْثِرَتْ

are overturned

buʿ'thirat

٤

And when the [contents of] graves are scattered [i.e., exposed],

— Saheeh International

عَلِمَتْ

Will know

ʿalimat

نَفْسٌۭ

a soul

nafsun

مَّا

what

قَدَّمَتْ

it has sent forth

qaddamat

وَأَخَّرَتْ

and left behind

wa-akharat

٥

A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.

— Saheeh International

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

O

yāayyuhā

ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ

man

l-insānu

مَا

What

غَرَّكَ

has deceived you

gharraka

بِرَبِّكَ

concerning your Lord

birabbika

ٱلْكَرِيمِ

the Most Noble

l-karīmi

٦

O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,

— Saheeh International

ٱلَّذِى

Who

alladhī

خَلَقَكَ

created you

khalaqaka

فَسَوَّىٰكَ

then fashioned you

fasawwāka

فَعَدَلَكَ

then balanced you

faʿadalaka

٧

Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?

— Saheeh International

فِىٓ

In

أَىِّ

whatever

ayyi

صُورَةٍۢ

form

ṣūratin

مَّا

what

شَآءَ

He willed

shāa

رَكَّبَكَ

He assembled you

rakkabaka

٨

In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.

— Saheeh International

كَلَّا

Nay

kallā

بَلْ

But

bal

تُكَذِّبُونَ

you deny

tukadhibūna

بِٱلدِّينِ

the Judgment

bil-dīni

٩

No! But you deny the Recompense.

— Saheeh International

وَإِنَّ

And indeed

wa-inna

عَلَيْكُمْ

over you

ʿalaykum

لَحَـٰفِظِينَ

(are) surely guardians

laḥāfiẓīna

١٠

And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,1

— Saheeh International

كِرَامًۭا

Noble

kirāman

كَـٰتِبِينَ

recording

kātibīna

١١

Noble and recording;

— Saheeh International

يَعْلَمُونَ

They know

yaʿlamūna

مَا

whatever

تَفْعَلُونَ

you do

tafʿalūna

١٢

They know whatever you do.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلْأَبْرَارَ

the righteous

l-abrāra

لَفِى

(will be) surely in

lafī

نَعِيمٍۢ

bliss

naʿīmin

١٣

Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,

— Saheeh International

وَإِنَّ

And indeed

wa-inna

ٱلْفُجَّارَ

the wicked

l-fujāra

لَفِى

(will be) surely in

lafī

جَحِيمٍۢ

Hellfire

jaḥīmin

١٤

And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.

— Saheeh International

يَصْلَوْنَهَا

They will burn (in) it

yaṣlawnahā

يَوْمَ

(on the) Day

yawma

ٱلدِّينِ

(of) the Judgment

l-dīni

١٥

They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,

— Saheeh International

وَمَا

And not

wamā

هُمْ

they

hum

عَنْهَا

from it

ʿanhā

بِغَآئِبِينَ

(will be) absent

bighāibīna

١٦

And never therefrom will they be absent.

— Saheeh International

وَمَآ

And what

wamā

أَدْرَىٰكَ

can make you know

adrāka

مَا

what

يَوْمُ

(is the) Day

yawmu

ٱلدِّينِ

(of) the Judgment

l-dīni

١٧

And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

— Saheeh International

ثُمَّ

Then

thumma

مَآ

what

أَدْرَىٰكَ

can make you know

adrāka

مَا

what

يَوْمُ

(is the) Day

yawmu

ٱلدِّينِ

(of) the Judgment

l-dīni

١٨

Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

— Saheeh International

يَوْمَ

(The) Day

yawma

لَا

not

تَمْلِكُ

will have power

tamliku

نَفْسٌۭ

a soul

nafsun

لِّنَفْسٍۢ

for a soul

linafsin

شَيْـًۭٔا ۖ

anything

shayan

وَٱلْأَمْرُ

and the Command

wal-amru

يَوْمَئِذٍۢ

that Day

yawma-idhin

لِّلَّهِ

(will be) with Allah

lillahi

١٩

It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allāh.

— Saheeh International

Al-Muţaffifīn

The Defrauding

المطففين

وَيْلٌۭ

Woe

waylun

لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ

to those who give less

lil'muṭaffifīna

١

Woe to those who give less [than due],1

— Saheeh International

ٱلَّذِينَ

Those who

alladhīna

إِذَا

when

idhā

ٱكْتَالُوا۟

they take a measure

ik'tālū

عَلَى

from

ʿalā

ٱلنَّاسِ

the people

l-nāsi

يَسْتَوْفُونَ

they take in full

yastawfūna

٢

Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full.

— Saheeh International

وَإِذَا

But when

wa-idhā

كَالُوهُمْ

they give by measure (to) them

kālūhum

أَو

or

aw

وَّزَنُوهُمْ

they weigh (for) them

wazanūhum

يُخْسِرُونَ

they give less

yukh'sirūna

٣

But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss.

— Saheeh International

أَلَا

Do not

alā

يَظُنُّ

think

yaẓunnu

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

those

ulāika

أَنَّهُم

that they

annahum

مَّبْعُوثُونَ

(will be) resurrected

mabʿūthūna

٤

Do they not think that they will be resurrected

— Saheeh International

لِيَوْمٍ

For a Day

liyawmin

عَظِيمٍۢ

Great

ʿaẓīmin

٥

For a tremendous Day -

— Saheeh International

يَوْمَ

(The) Day

yawma

يَقُومُ

will stand

yaqūmu

ٱلنَّاسُ

mankind

l-nāsu

لِرَبِّ

before (the) Lord

lirabbi

ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

(of) the worlds

l-ʿālamīna

٦

The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?

— Saheeh International
