إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

for the righteous

lil'muttaqīna

مَفَازًا

(is) success

mafāzan

٣١

Indeed, for the righteous is attainment1 -

— Saheeh International

حَدَآئِقَ

Gardens

ḥadāiqa

وَأَعْنَـٰبًۭا

and grapevines

wa-aʿnāban

٣٢

Gardens and grapevines.

— Saheeh International

وَكَوَاعِبَ

And splendid companions

wakawāʿiba

أَتْرَابًۭا

well-matched

atrāban

٣٣

And full-breasted [companions] of equal age.

— Saheeh International

وَكَأْسًۭا

And a cup

wakasan

دِهَاقًۭا

full

dihāqan

٣٤

And a full cup.1

— Saheeh International

لَّا

Not

يَسْمَعُونَ

they will hear

yasmaʿūna

فِيهَا

therein

fīhā

لَغْوًۭا

any vain talk

laghwan

وَلَا

and not

walā

كِذَّٰبًۭا

any falsehood

kidhāban

٣٥

No ill speech will they hear therein or any falsehood -

— Saheeh International

جَزَآءًۭ

(As) a reward

jazāan

مِّن

from

min

رَّبِّكَ

your Lord

rabbika

عَطَآءً

a gift

ʿaṭāan

حِسَابًۭا

(according to) account

ḥisāban

٣٦

[As] reward from your Lord, [a generous] gift [made due by] account,1

— Saheeh International

رَّبِّ

Lord

rabbi

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

(of) the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَٱلْأَرْضِ

and the earth

wal-arḍi

وَمَا

and whatever

wamā

بَيْنَهُمَا

(is) between both of them

baynahumā

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ

the Most Gracious

l-raḥmāni

لَا

not

يَمْلِكُونَ

they have power

yamlikūna

مِنْهُ

from Him

min'hu

خِطَابًۭا

(to) address

khiṭāban

٣٧

[From] the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Most Merciful. They possess not from Him [authority for] speech.1

— Saheeh International

يَوْمَ

(The) Day

yawma

يَقُومُ

will stand

yaqūmu

ٱلرُّوحُ

the Spirit

l-rūḥu

وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ

and the Angels

wal-malāikatu

صَفًّۭا ۖ

(in) rows

ṣaffan

لَّا

not

يَتَكَلَّمُونَ

they will speak

yatakallamūna

إِلَّا

except

illā

مَنْ

(one) who

man

أَذِنَ

permits

adhina

لَهُ

[for] him

lahu

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ

the Most Gracious

l-raḥmānu

وَقَالَ

and he (will) say

waqāla

صَوَابًۭا

(what is) correct

ṣawāban

٣٨

The Day that the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct.

— Saheeh International

ذَٰلِكَ

That

dhālika

ٱلْيَوْمُ

(is) the Day

l-yawmu

ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ

the True

l-ḥaqu

فَمَن

So whoever

faman

شَآءَ

wills

shāa

ٱتَّخَذَ

let him take

ittakhadha

إِلَىٰ

towards

ilā

رَبِّهِۦ

his Lord

rabbihi

مَـَٔابًا

a return

maāban

٣٩

That is the True [i.e., certain] Day; so he who wills may take to his Lord a [way of] return.1

— Saheeh International

إِنَّآ

Indeed We

innā

أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ

[We] have warned you

andharnākum

عَذَابًۭا

(of) a punishment

ʿadhāban

قَرِيبًۭا

near

qarīban

يَوْمَ

(the) Day

yawma

يَنظُرُ

will see

yanẓuru

ٱلْمَرْءُ

the man

l-maru

مَا

what

قَدَّمَتْ

have sent forth

qaddamat

يَدَاهُ

his hands

yadāhu

وَيَقُولُ

and will say

wayaqūlu

ٱلْكَافِرُ

the disbeliever

l-kāfiru

يَـٰلَيْتَنِى

O I wish

yālaytanī

كُنتُ

I were

kuntu

تُرَٰبًۢا

dust

turāban

٤٠

Indeed, We have warned you of an impending punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth1 and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust!"

— Saheeh International

An-Nāzi`āt

Those who drag forth

النازعات

وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ

By those who extract

wal-nāziʿāti

غَرْقًۭا

violently

gharqan

١

By those [angels] who extract with violence1

— Saheeh International

وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ

And those who draw out

wal-nāshiṭāti

نَشْطًۭا

gently

nashṭan

٢

And [by] those who remove with ease1

— Saheeh International

وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ

And those who glide

wal-sābiḥāti

سَبْحًۭا

swimming

sabḥan

٣

And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming1

— Saheeh International

فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ

And those who race each other

fal-sābiqāti

سَبْقًۭا

(in) a race

sabqan

٤

And those who race each other in a race1

— Saheeh International

فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ

And those who arrange

fal-mudabirāti

أَمْرًۭا

(the) matter

amran

٥

And those who arrange [each] matter,1

— Saheeh International

يَوْمَ

(The) Day

yawma

تَرْجُفُ

will quake

tarjufu

ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ

the quaking one

l-rājifatu

٦

On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation],

— Saheeh International

تَتْبَعُهَا

Follows it

tatbaʿuhā

ٱلرَّادِفَةُ

the subsequent

l-rādifatu

٧

There will follow it the subsequent [one].

— Saheeh International

قُلُوبٌۭ

Hearts

qulūbun

يَوْمَئِذٍۢ

that Day

yawma-idhin

وَاجِفَةٌ

will palpitate

wājifatun

٨

Hearts,1 that Day, will tremble,

— Saheeh International

أَبْصَـٰرُهَا

Their eyes

abṣāruhā

خَـٰشِعَةٌۭ

humbled

khāshiʿatun

٩

Their eyes1 humbled.

— Saheeh International

يَقُولُونَ

They say

yaqūlūna

أَءِنَّا

Will we

a-innā

لَمَرْدُودُونَ

indeed be returned

lamardūdūna

فِى

to

ٱلْحَافِرَةِ

the former state

l-ḥāfirati

١٠

They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]?

— Saheeh International

أَءِذَا

What! When

a-idhā

كُنَّا

we are

kunnā

عِظَـٰمًۭا

bones

ʿiẓāman

نَّخِرَةًۭ

decayed

nakhiratan

١١

Even if we should be decayed bones?"1

— Saheeh International

قَالُوا۟

They say

qālū

تِلْكَ

This

til'ka

إِذًۭا

then

idhan

كَرَّةٌ

(would be) a return

karratun

خَاسِرَةٌۭ

losing

khāsiratun

١٢

They say, "That, then, would be a losing return."1

— Saheeh International

فَإِنَّمَا

Then only

fa-innamā

هِىَ

it

hiya

زَجْرَةٌۭ

(will be) a shout

zajratun

وَٰحِدَةٌۭ

single

wāḥidatun

١٣

Indeed, it will be but one shout,

— Saheeh International

فَإِذَا

And behold

fa-idhā

هُم

They

hum

بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ

(will be) awakened

bil-sāhirati

١٤

And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface.

— Saheeh International

هَلْ

Has

hal

أَتَىٰكَ

(there) come to you

atāka

حَدِيثُ

(the) story

ḥadīthu

مُوسَىٰٓ

(of) Musa

mūsā

١٥

Has there reached you the story of Moses? -

— Saheeh International
