۞ إِنَّ Indeed inna your Lord rabbaka knows yaʿlamu that you annaka stand taqūmu (a little) less adnā than min two-thirds thuluthayi (of) the night al-layli and half of it waniṣ'fahu and a third of it wathuluthahu and (so do) a group waṭāifatun of mina those who alladhīna (are) with you maʿaka And Allah wal-lahu determines yuqaddiru the night al-layla and the day wal-nahāra He knows ʿalima that an not lan you count it tuḥ'ṣūhu so He has turned fatāba to you ʿalaykum so recite fa-iq'raū what mā is easy tayassara of mina the Quran l-qur'āni He knows ʿalima that an there will be sayakūnu among you minkum sick marḍā and others waākharūna traveling yaḍribūna in fī the land l-arḍi seeking yabtaghūna of min (the) Bounty faḍli (of) Allah l-lahi and others waākharūna fighting yuqātilūna in fī (the) way sabīli (of) Allah l-lahi So recite fa-iq'raū what mā is easy tayassara of it min'hu and establish wa-aqīmū the prayer l-ṣalata and give waātū the zakah l-zakata and loan wa-aqriḍū Allah l-laha a loan qarḍan goodly ḥasanan And whatever wamā you send forth tuqaddimū for yourselves li-anfusikum of min good khayrin you will find it tajidūhu with ʿinda Allah l-lahi It huwa (will be) better khayran and greater wa-aʿẓama (in) reward ajran And seek forgiveness wa-is'taghfirū (of) Allah l-laha Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is) Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun Most Merciful raḥīmun
Indeed, your Lord knows, [O Muḥammad], that you stand [in prayer] almost two thirds of the night or half of it or a third of it, and [so do] a group of those with you. And Allāh determines [the extent of] the night and the day. He has known that you [Muslims] will not be able to do it1 and has turned to you in forgiveness, so recite what is easy [for you] of the Qur’ān. He has known that there will be among you those who are ill and others traveling throughout the land seeking [something] of the bounty of Allāh and others fighting for the cause of Allāh. So recite what is easy from it and establish prayer and give zakāh and loan Allāh a goodly loan.2 And whatever good you put forward for yourselves - you will find it with Allāh. It is better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
