أَفَسِحْرٌ

Then is this magic

afasiḥ'run

هَـٰذَآ

Then is this magic

hādhā

أَمْ

or

am

أَنتُمْ

you

antum

لَا

(do) not

تُبْصِرُونَ

see

tub'ṣirūna

١٥

Then is this magic, or do you not see?

— Saheeh International

ٱصْلَوْهَا

Burn in it

iṣ'lawhā

فَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟

then be patient

fa-iṣ'birū

أَوْ

or

aw

لَا

(do) not

تَصْبِرُوا۟

be patient

taṣbirū

سَوَآءٌ

(it is) same

sawāon

عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ

for you

ʿalaykum

إِنَّمَا

Only

innamā

تُجْزَوْنَ

you are being recompensed

tuj'zawna

مَا

(for) what

كُنتُمْ

you used to

kuntum

تَعْمَلُونَ

do

taʿmalūna

١٦

[Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do."

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

the righteous

l-mutaqīna

فِى

(will be) in

جَنَّـٰتٍۢ

Gardens

jannātin

وَنَعِيمٍۢ

and pleasure

wanaʿīmin

١٧

Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure,

— Saheeh International

فَـٰكِهِينَ

Enjoying

fākihīna

بِمَآ

in what

bimā

ءَاتَىٰهُمْ

has given them

ātāhum

رَبُّهُمْ

their Lord

rabbuhum

وَوَقَىٰهُمْ

and protected them

wawaqāhum

رَبُّهُمْ

their Lord

rabbuhum

عَذَابَ

(from the) punishment

ʿadhāba

ٱلْجَحِيمِ

(of) Hellfire

l-jaḥīmi

١٨

Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire.

— Saheeh International

كُلُوا۟

Eat

kulū

وَٱشْرَبُوا۟

and drink

wa-ish'rabū

هَنِيٓـًٔۢا

(in) satisfaction

hanīan

بِمَا

for what

bimā

كُنتُمْ

you used to

kuntum

تَعْمَلُونَ

do

taʿmalūna

١٩

[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do."

— Saheeh International

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ

Reclining

muttakiīna

عَلَىٰ

on

ʿalā

سُرُرٍۢ

thrones

sururin

مَّصْفُوفَةٍۢ ۖ

lined up

maṣfūfatin

وَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُم

and We will marry them

wazawwajnāhum

بِحُورٍ

to fair ones

biḥūrin

عِينٍۢ

(with) large eyes

ʿīnin

٢٠

They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ

And those who

wa-alladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

believed

āmanū

وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ

and followed them

wa-ittabaʿathum

ذُرِّيَّتُهُم

their offspring

dhurriyyatuhum

بِإِيمَـٰنٍ

in faith

biīmānin

أَلْحَقْنَا

We will join

alḥaqnā

بِهِمْ

with them

bihim

ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ

their offspring

dhurriyyatahum

وَمَآ

and not

wamā

أَلَتْنَـٰهُم

We will deprive them

alatnāhum

مِّنْ

of

min

عَمَلِهِم

their deeds

ʿamalihim

مِّن

(in) any

min

شَىْءٍۢ ۚ

thing

shayin

كُلُّ

Every

kullu

ٱمْرِئٍۭ

person

im'ri-in

بِمَا

for what

bimā

كَسَبَ

he earned

kasaba

رَهِينٌۭ

(is) pledged

rahīnun

٢١

And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds.1 Every person, for what he earned, is retained.2

— Saheeh International

وَأَمْدَدْنَـٰهُم

And We will provide them

wa-amdadnāhum

بِفَـٰكِهَةٍۢ

with fruit

bifākihatin

وَلَحْمٍۢ

and meat

walaḥmin

مِّمَّا

from what

mimmā

يَشْتَهُونَ

they desire

yashtahūna

٢٢

And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire.

— Saheeh International

يَتَنَـٰزَعُونَ

They will pass to one another

yatanāzaʿūna

فِيهَا

therein

fīhā

كَأْسًۭا

a cup

kasan

لَّا

no

لَغْوٌۭ

ill speech

laghwun

فِيهَا

therein

fīhā

وَلَا

and no

walā

تَأْثِيمٌۭ

sin

tathīmun

٢٣

They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin.

— Saheeh International

۞ وَيَطُوفُ

And will circulate

wayaṭūfu

عَلَيْهِمْ

among them

ʿalayhim

غِلْمَانٌۭ

boys

ghil'mānun

لَّهُمْ

for them

lahum

كَأَنَّهُمْ

as if they (were)

ka-annahum

لُؤْلُؤٌۭ

pearls

lu'lu-on

مَّكْنُونٌۭ

well-protected

maknūnun

٢٤

There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected.

— Saheeh International

وَأَقْبَلَ

And will approach

wa-aqbala

بَعْضُهُمْ

some of them

baʿḍuhum

عَلَىٰ

to

ʿalā

بَعْضٍۢ

others

baʿḍin

يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

inquiring

yatasāalūna

٢٥

And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.

— Saheeh International

قَالُوٓا۟

They will say

qālū

إِنَّا

Indeed, we

innā

كُنَّا

[we] were

kunnā

قَبْلُ

before

qablu

فِىٓ

among

أَهْلِنَا

our families

ahlinā

مُشْفِقِينَ

fearful

mush'fiqīna

٢٦

They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allāh].

— Saheeh International

فَمَنَّ

But Allah conferred favor

famanna

ٱللَّهُ

But Allah conferred favor

l-lahu

عَلَيْنَا

upon us

ʿalaynā

وَوَقَىٰنَا

and protected us

wawaqānā

عَذَابَ

(from the) punishment

ʿadhāba

ٱلسَّمُومِ

(of) the Scorching Fire

l-samūmi

٢٧

So Allāh conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّا

Indeed, we

innā

كُنَّا

[we] used to

kunnā

مِن

before

min

قَبْلُ

before

qablu

نَدْعُوهُ ۖ

call Him

nadʿūhu

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, He

innahu

هُوَ

[He]

huwa

ٱلْبَرُّ

(is) the Most Kind

l-baru

ٱلرَّحِيمُ

the Most Merciful

l-raḥīmu

٢٨

Indeed, we used to supplicate1 Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful."

— Saheeh International

فَذَكِّرْ

Therefore remind

fadhakkir

فَمَآ

for not

famā

أَنتَ

you

anta

بِنِعْمَتِ

(are) by (the) grace

biniʿ'mati

رَبِّكَ

(of) your Lord

rabbika

بِكَاهِنٍۢ

a soothsayer

bikāhinin

وَلَا

and not

walā

مَجْنُونٍ

a madman

majnūnin

٢٩

So remind, [O Muḥammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman.

— Saheeh International

أَمْ

Or

am

يَقُولُونَ

(do) they say

yaqūlūna

شَاعِرٌۭ

A poet

shāʿirun

نَّتَرَبَّصُ

we wait

natarabbaṣu

بِهِۦ

for him

bihi

رَيْبَ

a misfortune of time

rayba

ٱلْمَنُونِ

a misfortune of time

l-manūni

٣٠

Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time"?1

— Saheeh International

قُلْ

Say

qul

تَرَبَّصُوا۟

Wait

tarabbaṣū

فَإِنِّى

for indeed I am

fa-innī

مَعَكُم

with you

maʿakum

مِّنَ

among

mina

ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ

those who wait

l-mutarabiṣīna

٣١

Say, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters."

— Saheeh International
