۞ إِلَيْهِ

To Him

ilayhi

يُرَدُّ

تَخْرُجُ

أَكْمَامِهَا

their coverings

وَمَا

and not

wamā

تَحْمِلُ

bears

taḥmilu

مِنْ

أُنثَىٰ

female

unthā

وَلَا

and not

walā

تَضَعُ

gives birth

taḍaʿu

إِلَّا

except

illā

بِعِلْمِهِۦ ۚ

with His knowledge

biʿil'mihi

وَيَوْمَ

And (the) Day

wayawma

يُنَادِيهِمْ

He will call them

yunādīhim

أَيْنَ

Where (are)

ayna

شُرَكَآءِى

My partners

shurakāī

قَالُوٓا۟

They will say

qālū

ءَاذَنَّـٰكَ

We announce (to) You

ādhannāka

مَا

not

مِنَّا

among us

minnā

مِن

any

min

شَهِيدٍۢ

witness

shahīdin

٤٧

To Him [alone] is attributed knowledge of the Hour. And fruits emerge not from their coverings nor does a female conceive or give birth except with His knowledge. And the Day He will call to them, "Where are My 'partners'?" they will say, "We announce to You that there is [no longer] among us any witness [to that]."

— Saheeh International

وَضَلَّ

And lost

waḍalla

عَنْهُم

from them

مَّا

كَانُوا۟

يَدْعُونَ

invoking

قَبْلُ ۖ

وَظَنُّوا۟

and they (will) be certain

مَّحِيصٍۢ

place of escape

And lost from them will be those they were invoking before, and they will be certain that they have no place of escape.

— Saheeh International

لَّا

(Does) not

يَسْـَٔمُ

get tired

yasamu

ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ

man

l-insānu

مِن

of

min

دُعَآءِ

praying

duʿāi

ٱلْخَيْرِ

(for) the good

l-khayri

وَإِن

but if

wa-in

مَّسَّهُ

touches him

massahu

ٱلشَّرُّ

the evil

l-sharu

فَيَـُٔوسٌۭ

then he gives up hope

fayaūsun

قَنُوطٌۭ

(and) despairs

qanūṭun

٤٩

Man is not weary of supplication for good [things], but if evil touches him, he is hopeless and despairing.

— Saheeh International

وَلَئِنْ

And verily, if

wala-in

أَذَقْنَـٰهُ

We let him taste

adhaqnāhu

رَحْمَةًۭ

mercy

raḥmatan

مِّنَّا

from Us

minnā

مِنۢ

after

min

بَعْدِ

after

baʿdi

ضَرَّآءَ

an adversity

ḍarrāa

مَسَّتْهُ

(has) touched him

massathu

لَيَقُولَنَّ

he will surely say

layaqūlanna

هَـٰذَا

This (is)

hādhā

لِى

(due) to me

وَمَآ

and not

wamā

أَظُنُّ

I think

aẓunnu

ٱلسَّاعَةَ

the Hour

l-sāʿata

قَآئِمَةًۭ

(will be) established

qāimatan

وَلَئِن

and if

wala-in

رُّجِعْتُ

I am returned

rujiʿ'tu

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

رَبِّىٓ

my Lord

rabbī

إِنَّ

indeed

inna

لِى

for me

عِندَهُۥ

with Him

ʿindahu

لَلْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ

(will be) the best

lalḥus'nā

فَلَنُنَبِّئَنَّ

But We will surely inform

falanunabbi-anna

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟

disbelieved

kafarū

بِمَا

about what

bimā

عَمِلُوا۟

they did

ʿamilū

وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم

and We will surely make them taste

walanudhīqannahum

مِّنْ

of

min

عَذَابٍ

a punishment

ʿadhābin

غَلِيظٍۢ

severe

ghalīẓin

٥٠

And if We let him taste mercy from Us after an adversity which has touched him, he will surely say, "This is [due] to me,1 and I do not think the Hour will occur; and [even] if I should be returned to my Lord, indeed, for me there will be with Him the best." But We will surely inform those who disbelieved about what they did, and We will surely make them taste a massive punishment.

— Saheeh International

وَإِذَآ

And when

wa-idhā

أَنْعَمْنَا

We bestow favor

anʿamnā

عَلَى

upon

ʿalā

ٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ

man

l-insāni

أَعْرَضَ

he turns away

aʿraḍa

وَنَـَٔا

and distances himself

wanaā

بِجَانِبِهِۦ

and distances himself

bijānibihi

وَإِذَا

but when

wa-idhā

مَسَّهُ

touches him

massahu

ٱلشَّرُّ

the evil

l-sharu

فَذُو

then (he is) full

fadhū

دُعَآءٍ

(of) supplication

duʿāin

عَرِيضٍۢ

lengthy

ʿarīḍin

٥١

And when We bestow favor upon man, he turns away and distances himself; but when evil touches him, then he is full of extensive supplication.

— Saheeh International

قُلْ

Say

qul

أَرَءَيْتُمْ

You see

ara-aytum

إِن

if

in

كَانَ

it is

kāna

مِنْ

from

min

عِندِ

from

ʿindi

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

كَفَرْتُم

you disbelieve

kafartum

بِهِۦ

in it

bihi

مَنْ

who

man

أَضَلُّ

(is) more astray

aḍallu

مِمَّنْ

than (one) who

mimman

هُوَ

he

huwa

فِى

(is) in

شِقَاقٍۭ

opposition

shiqāqin

بَعِيدٍۢ

far

baʿīdin

٥٢

Say, "Have you considered: if it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is from Allāh and you disbelieved in it, who would be more astray than one who is in extreme dissension?"

— Saheeh International

سَنُرِيهِمْ

Soon We will show them

sanurīhim

ءَايَـٰتِنَا

Our Signs

āyātinā

فِى

in

ٱلْـَٔافَاقِ

the horizons

l-āfāqi

وَفِىٓ

and in

wafī

أَنفُسِهِمْ

themselves

anfusihim

حَتَّىٰ

until

ḥattā

يَتَبَيَّنَ

becomes clear

yatabayyana

لَهُمْ

to them

lahum

أَنَّهُ

that it

annahu

ٱلْحَقُّ ۗ

(is) the truth

l-ḥaqu

أَوَلَمْ

Is (it) not

awalam

يَكْفِ

sufficient

yakfi

بِرَبِّكَ

concerning your Lord

birabbika

أَنَّهُۥ

that He

annahu

عَلَىٰ

(is) over

ʿalā

كُلِّ

all

kulli

شَىْءٍۢ

things

shayin

شَهِيدٌ

a Witness

shahīdun

٥٣

We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth.1 But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?2

— Saheeh International

أَلَآ

Unquestionably

alā

إِنَّهُمْ

they

innahum

فِى

(are) in

مِرْيَةٍۢ

doubt

mir'yatin

مِّن

about

min

لِّقَآءِ

(the) meeting

liqāi

رَبِّهِمْ ۗ

(with) their Lord

rabbihim

أَلَآ

Unquestionably

alā

إِنَّهُۥ

indeed, He

innahu

بِكُلِّ

(is) of all

bikulli

شَىْءٍۢ

things

shayin

مُّحِيطٌۢ

encompassing

muḥīṭun

٥٤

Unquestionably, they are in doubt about the meeting with their Lord. Unquestionably He is, of all things, encompassing.
