وَلَقَدْ

And indeed

walaqad

جَآءَكُمْ

came to you

jāakum

يُوسُفُ

Yusuf

yūsufu

مِن

before

قَبْلُ

qablu

بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ

with clear proofs

bil-bayināti

فَمَا

but not

famā

زِلْتُمْ

you ceased

zil'tum

فِى

in

شَكٍّۢ

doubt

shakkin

مِّمَّا

about what

mimmā

جَآءَكُم

he brought to you

jāakum

بِهِۦ ۖ

[with it]

bihi

حَتَّىٰٓ

until

ḥattā

إِذَا

when

idhā

هَلَكَ

he died

halaka

قُلْتُمْ

you said

qul'tum

لَن

Never

lan

يَبْعَثَ

will Allah raise

yabʿatha

ٱللَّهُ

will Allah raise

l-lahu

مِنۢ

after him

min

بَعْدِهِۦ

after him

baʿdihi

رَسُولًۭا ۚ

a Messenger

rasūlan

كَذَٰلِكَ

Thus

kadhālika

يُضِلُّ

Allah lets go astray

yuḍillu

ٱللَّهُ

Allah lets go astray

l-lahu

مَنْ

who

man

هُوَ

[he]

huwa

مُسْرِفٌۭ

(is) a transgressor

mus'rifun

مُّرْتَابٌ

a doubter

mur'tābun

٣٤

And Joseph had already come to you before with clear proofs, but you remained in doubt of that which he brought to you, until when he died, you said, 'Never will Allāh send a messenger after him.' Thus does Allāh leave astray he who is a transgressor and skeptic."

— Saheeh International

ٱلَّذِينَ

Those who

alladhīna

يُجَـٰدِلُونَ

dispute

yujādilūna

فِىٓ

concerning

ءَايَـٰتِ

(the) Signs

āyāti

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

بِغَيْرِ

without

bighayri

سُلْطَـٰنٍ

any authority

sul'ṭānin

أَتَىٰهُمْ ۖ

(having) come to them

atāhum

كَبُرَ

(it) is greatly

kabura

مَقْتًا

hateful

maqtan

عِندَ

near Allah

ʿinda

ٱللَّهِ

near Allah

l-lahi

وَعِندَ

and near

waʿinda

ٱلَّذِينَ

those

alladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟ ۚ

who believe

āmanū

كَذَٰلِكَ

Thus

kadhālika

يَطْبَعُ

Allah sets a seal

yaṭbaʿu

ٱللَّهُ

Allah sets a seal

l-lahu

عَلَىٰ

over

ʿalā

كُلِّ

every

kulli

قَلْبِ

heart

qalbi

مُتَكَبِّرٍۢ

(of) an arrogant

mutakabbirin

جَبَّارٍۢ

tyrant

jabbārin

٣٥

Those who dispute concerning the signs of Allāh without an authority1 having come to them - great is hatred [of them] in the sight of Allāh and in the sight of those who have believed. Thus does Allāh seal over every heart [belonging to] an arrogant tyrant.

— Saheeh International

وَقَالَ

And said

waqāla

فِرْعَوْنُ

Firaun

fir'ʿawnu

يَـٰهَـٰمَـٰنُ

O Haman

yāhāmānu

ٱبْنِ

Construct

ib'ni

لِى

for me

صَرْحًۭا

a tower

ṣarḥan

لَّعَلِّىٓ

that I may

laʿallī

أَبْلُغُ

reach

ablughu

ٱلْأَسْبَـٰبَ

the ways

l-asbāba

٣٦

And Pharaoh said, "O Hāmān, construct for me a tower that I might reach the ways1 -

— Saheeh International

أَسْبَـٰبَ

(The) ways

asbāba

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

(to) the heavens

l-samāwāti

فَأَطَّلِعَ

so I may look

fa-aṭṭaliʿa

إِلَىٰٓ

at

ilā

إِلَـٰهِ

(the) God

ilāhi

مُوسَىٰ

(of) Musa

mūsā

وَإِنِّى

and indeed, I

wa-innī

لَأَظُنُّهُۥ

[I] surely think him

la-aẓunnuhu

كَـٰذِبًۭا ۚ

(to be) a liar

kādhiban

وَكَذَٰلِكَ

And thus

wakadhālika

زُيِّنَ

was made fair-seeming

zuyyina

لِفِرْعَوْنَ

to Firaun

lifir'ʿawna

سُوٓءُ

(the) evil

sūu

عَمَلِهِۦ

(of) his deed

ʿamalihi

وَصُدَّ

and he was averted

waṣudda

عَنِ

from

ʿani

ٱلسَّبِيلِ ۚ

the way

l-sabīli

وَمَا

And not

wamā

كَيْدُ

(was the) plot

kaydu

فِرْعَوْنَ

(of) Firaun

fir'ʿawna

إِلَّا

except

illā

فِى

in

تَبَابٍۢ

ruin

tabābin

٣٧

The ways into the heavens - so that I may look at the deity of Moses; but indeed, I think he is a liar." And thus was made attractive to Pharaoh the evil of his deed, and he was averted from the [right] way. And the plan of Pharaoh was not except in ruin.

— Saheeh International

وَقَالَ

And said

waqāla

ٱلَّذِىٓ

the one who

alladhī

ءَامَنَ

believed

āmana

يَـٰقَوْمِ

O my people

yāqawmi

ٱتَّبِعُونِ

Follow me

ittabiʿūni

أَهْدِكُمْ

I will guide you

ahdikum

سَبِيلَ

(to the) way

sabīla

ٱلرَّشَادِ

the right

l-rashādi

٣٨

And he who believed said, "O my people, follow me; I will guide you to the way of right conduct.

— Saheeh International

يَـٰقَوْمِ

O my people

yāqawmi

إِنَّمَا

Only

innamā

هَـٰذِهِ

this

hādhihi

ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ

the life

l-ḥayatu

ٱلدُّنْيَا

(of) the world

l-dun'yā

مَتَـٰعٌۭ

(is) enjoyment

matāʿun

وَإِنَّ

and indeed

wa-inna

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ

the Hereafter

l-ākhirata

هِىَ

it

hiya

دَارُ

(is the) home

dāru

ٱلْقَرَارِ

(of) settlement

l-qarāri

٣٩

O my people, this worldly life is only [temporary] enjoyment, and indeed, the Hereafter - that is the home of [permanent] settlement.

— Saheeh International

مَنْ

Whoever

man

عَمِلَ

does

ʿamila

سَيِّئَةًۭ

an evil

sayyi-atan

فَلَا

then not

falā

يُجْزَىٰٓ

he will be recompensed

yuj'zā

إِلَّا

but

illā

مِثْلَهَا ۖ

(the) like thereof

mith'lahā

وَمَنْ

and whoever

waman

عَمِلَ

does

ʿamila

صَـٰلِحًۭا

righteous (deeds)

ṣāliḥan

مِّن

of

min

ذَكَرٍ

male

dhakarin

أَوْ

or

aw

أُنثَىٰ

female

unthā

وَهُوَ

while he

wahuwa

مُؤْمِنٌۭ

(is) a believer

mu'minun

فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

then those

fa-ulāika

يَدْخُلُونَ

will enter

yadkhulūna

ٱلْجَنَّةَ

Paradise

l-janata

يُرْزَقُونَ

they will be given provision

yur'zaqūna

فِيهَا

in it

fīhā

بِغَيْرِ

without

bighayri

حِسَابٍۢ

account

ḥisābin

٤٠

Whoever does an evil deed will not be recompensed except by the like thereof; but whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - those will enter Paradise, being given provision therein without account.

— Saheeh International
