وَمَآ

And whatever

wamā

أَنفَقْتُم

you spend

anfaqtum

مِّن

(out) of

min

نَّفَقَةٍ

(your) expenditures

nafaqatin

أَوْ

or

aw

نَذَرْتُم

you vow

nadhartum

مِّن

of

min

نَّذْرٍۢ

vow(s)

nadhrin

فَإِنَّ

then indeed

fa-inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

يَعْلَمُهُۥ ۗ

knows it

yaʿlamuhu

وَمَا

and not

wamā

لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

for the wrongdoers

lilẓẓālimīna

مِنْ

any

min

أَنصَارٍ

helpers

anṣārin

٢٧٠

And whatever you spend of expenditures or make of vows - indeed, Allāh knows of it. And for the wrongdoers there are no helpers.

— Saheeh International

إِن

If

in

تُبْدُوا۟

you disclose

tub'dū

ٱلصَّدَقَـٰتِ

the charities

l-ṣadaqāti

فَنِعِمَّا

then good

faniʿimmā

هِىَ ۖ

it (is)

hiya

وَإِن

But if

wa-in

تُخْفُوهَا

you keep it secret

tukh'fūhā

وَتُؤْتُوهَا

and give it

watu'tūhā

ٱلْفُقَرَآءَ

(to) the poor

l-fuqarāa

فَهُوَ

then it

fahuwa

خَيْرٌۭ

(is) better

khayrun

لَّكُمْ ۚ

for you

lakum

وَيُكَفِّرُ

And He will remove

wayukaffiru

عَنكُم

from you

ʿankum

مِّن

[of]

min

سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمْ ۗ

your evil deeds

sayyiātikum

وَٱللَّهُ

And Allah

wal-lahu

بِمَا

with what

bimā

تَعْمَلُونَ

you do

taʿmalūna

خَبِيرٌۭ

(is) All-Aware

khabīrun

٢٧١

If you disclose your charitable expenditures, they are good; but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, it is better for you, and He will remove from you some of your misdeeds [thereby]. And Allāh, of what you do, is [fully] Aware.

— Saheeh International

۞ لَّيْسَ

Not

laysa

عَلَيْكَ

on you

ʿalayka

هُدَىٰهُمْ

(is) their guidance

hudāhum

وَلَـٰكِنَّ

[and] but

walākinna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

يَهْدِى

guides

yahdī

مَن

whom

man

يَشَآءُ ۗ

He wills

yashāu

وَمَا

And whatever

wamā

تُنفِقُوا۟

you spend

tunfiqū

مِنْ

of

min

خَيْرٍۢ

good

khayrin

فَلِأَنفُسِكُمْ ۚ

then it is for yourself

fali-anfusikum

وَمَا

and not

wamā

تُنفِقُونَ

you spend

tunfiqūna

إِلَّا

except

illā

ٱبْتِغَآءَ

seeking

ib'tighāa

وَجْهِ

(the) face

wajhi

ٱللَّهِ ۚ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

وَمَا

And whatever

wamā

تُنفِقُوا۟

you spend

tunfiqū

مِنْ

of

min

خَيْرٍۢ

good

khayrin

يُوَفَّ

will be repaid in full

yuwaffa

إِلَيْكُمْ

to you

ilaykum

وَأَنتُمْ

and you

wa-antum

لَا

(will) not

تُظْلَمُونَ

be wronged

tuẓ'lamūna

٢٧٢

Not upon you, [O Muḥammad], is [responsibility for] their guidance, but Allāh guides whom He wills. And whatever good you [believers] spend is for yourselves, and you do not spend except seeking the face [i.e., approval] of Allāh. And whatever you spend of good1 - it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged.

— Saheeh International

لِلْفُقَرَآءِ

For the poor

lil'fuqarāi

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

أُحْصِرُوا۟

are wrapped up

uḥ'ṣirū

فِى

in

سَبِيلِ

(the) way

sabīli

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

لَا

not

يَسْتَطِيعُونَ

they are able

yastaṭīʿūna

ضَرْبًۭا

(to) move about

ḍarban

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

يَحْسَبُهُمُ

Think (about) them

yaḥsabuhumu

ٱلْجَاهِلُ

the ignorant one

l-jāhilu

أَغْنِيَآءَ

(that they are) self-sufficient

aghniyāa

مِنَ

(because) of

mina

ٱلتَّعَفُّفِ

(their) restraint

l-taʿafufi

تَعْرِفُهُم

you recognize them

taʿrifuhum

بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ

by their mark

bisīmāhum

لَا

Not

يَسْـَٔلُونَ

(do) they ask

yasalūna

ٱلنَّاسَ

the people

l-nāsa

إِلْحَافًۭا ۗ

with importunity

il'ḥāfan

وَمَا

And whatever

wamā

تُنفِقُوا۟

you spend

tunfiqū

مِنْ

of

min

خَيْرٍۢ

good

khayrin

فَإِنَّ

then indeed

fa-inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

بِهِۦ

of it

bihi

عَلِيمٌ

(is) All-Knower

ʿalīmun

٢٧٣

[Charity is] for the poor who have been restricted for the cause of Allāh, unable to move about in the land. An ignorant [person] would think them self-sufficient because of their restraint, but you will know them by their [characteristic] sign. They do not ask people persistently [or at all]. And whatever you spend of good - indeed, Allāh is Knowing of it.

— Saheeh International

ٱلَّذِينَ

Those who

alladhīna

يُنفِقُونَ

spend

yunfiqūna

أَمْوَٰلَهُم

their wealth

amwālahum

بِٱلَّيْلِ

by night

bi-al-layli

وَٱلنَّهَارِ

and day

wal-nahāri

سِرًّۭا

secretly

sirran

وَعَلَانِيَةًۭ

and openly

waʿalāniyatan

فَلَهُمْ

then for them

falahum

أَجْرُهُمْ

(is) their reward

ajruhum

عِندَ

with

ʿinda

رَبِّهِمْ

their Lord

rabbihim

وَلَا

and no

walā

خَوْفٌ

fear

khawfun

عَلَيْهِمْ

on them

ʿalayhim

وَلَا

and not

walā

هُمْ

they

hum

يَحْزَنُونَ

will grieve

yaḥzanūna

٢٧٤

Those who spend their wealth [in Allāh's way] by night and by day, secretly and publicly - they will have their reward with their Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.
