وَمَا And not wamā are alike yastawī the two seas l-baḥrāni This hādhā (is) fresh ʿadhbun sweet furātun pleasant sāighun its drink sharābuhu and this wahādhā salty mil'ḥun (and) bitter ujājun And from wamin each kullin you eat takulūna meat laḥman fresh ṭariyyan and you extract watastakhrijūna ornaments ḥil'yatan you wear them talbasūnahā and you see watarā the ships l-ful'ka in it fīhi cleaving mawākhira so that you may seek litabtaghū of min His Bounty faḍlihi and that you may walaʿallakum be grateful tashkurūna
And not alike are the two seas [i.e., bodies of water]. One is fresh and sweet, palatable for drinking, and one is salty and bitter. And from each you eat tender meat and extract ornaments which you wear, and you see the ships plowing through [them] that you might seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.
يُولِجُ He causes to enter yūliju the night al-layla in (to) fī the day l-nahāri and He causes to enter wayūliju the day l-nahāra in (to) fī the night al-layli and He has subjected wasakhara the sun l-shamsa and the moon wal-qamara each kullun running yajrī for a term li-ajalin appointed musamman That (is) dhālikumu Allah l-lahu your Lord rabbukum for Him lahu (is) the Dominion l-mul'ku And those whom wa-alladhīna you invoke tadʿūna besides Him min besides Him dūnihi not mā they possess yamlikūna even min (as much as) the membrane of a date-seed qiṭ'mīrin
He causes the night to enter the day, and He causes the day to enter the night and has subjected the sun and the moon - each running [its course] for a specified term. That is Allāh, your Lord; to Him belongs sovereignty. And those whom you invoke other than Him do not possess [as much as] the membrane of a date seed.
إِن If in you invoke them tadʿūhum not lā they hear yasmaʿū your call duʿāakum and if walaw they heard samiʿū not mā they (would) respond is'tajābū to you lakum And (on the) Day wayawma (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati they will deny yakfurūna your association bishir'kikum And none walā can inform you yunabbi-uka like mith'lu (the) All-Aware khabīrin
If you invoke them, they do not hear your supplication; and if they heard, they would not respond to you. And on the Day of Resurrection they will deny your association.1 And none can inform you like [one] Aware [of all matters].
۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O yāayyuhā mankind l-nāsu You antumu (are) those in need l-fuqarāu of ilā Allah l-lahi while Allah wal-lahu He huwa (is) Free of need l-ghaniyu the Praiseworthy l-ḥamīdu
O mankind, you are those in need of Allāh, while Allāh is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.
إِن If in He wills yasha He (can) do away with you yudh'hib'kum and bring wayati in a creation bikhalqin new jadīdin
If He wills, He can do away with you and bring forth a new creation.
وَمَا And not wamā that dhālika (is) on ʿalā Allah l-lahi difficult biʿazīzin
And that is for Allāh not difficult.
وَلَا And not walā will bear taziru bearer of burdens wāziratun burden wiz'ra (of) another ukh'rā And if wa-in calls tadʿu a heavily laden muth'qalatun to ilā (carry) its load ḥim'lihā not lā will be carried yuḥ'mal of it min'hu anything shayon even if walaw he be kāna near of kin dhā near of kin qur'bā Only innamā you can warn tundhiru those who alladhīna fear yakhshawna their Lord rabbahum unseen bil-ghaybi and establish wa-aqāmū the prayer l-ṣalata And whoever waman purifies himself tazakkā then only fa-innamā he purifies yatazakkā for his own self linafsihi And to wa-ilā Allah l-lahi (is) the destination l-maṣīru
And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And if a heavily laden soul calls [another] to [carry some of] its load, nothing of it will be carried, even if he should be a close relative. You can only warn those who fear their Lord unseen and have established prayer. And whoever purifies himself only purifies himself for [the benefit of] his soul. And to Allāh is the [final] destination.
