وَيَوْمَ And (the) Day wayawma He will gather them yaḥshuruhum all jamīʿan then thumma He will say yaqūlu to the Angels lil'malāikati Were these you ahāulāi Were these you iyyākum they were kānū worshipping yaʿbudūna
And [mention] the Day when He will gather them all and then say to the angels, "Did these [people] used to worship you?"
قَالُوا۟ They will say qālū Glory be to You sub'ḥānaka You anta (are) our Protector waliyyunā not them min not them dūnihim Nay bal they used kānū (to) worship yaʿbudūna the jinn l-jina most of them aktharuhum in them bihim (were) believers mu'minūna
They will say, "Exalted are You! You, [O Allāh], are our benefactor excluding [i.e., not] them. Rather, they used to worship the jinn; most of them were believers in them."
فَٱلْيَوْمَ But today fal-yawma not lā possess power yamliku some of you baʿḍukum on others libaʿḍin to benefit nafʿan and not walā to harm ḍarran and We will say wanaqūlu to those lilladhīna who wronged ẓalamū Taste dhūqū (the) punishment ʿadhāba (of) the Fire l-nāri which allatī you used kuntum to [it] bihā deny tukadhibūna
But today [i.e., the Day of Judgement] you do not hold for one another [the power of] benefit or harm, and We will say to those who wronged, "Taste the punishment of the Fire, which you used to deny."
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā are recited tut'lā to them ʿalayhim Our Verses āyātunā clear bayyinātin they say qālū Not mā (is) this hādhā but illā a man rajulun who wishes yurīdu to an hinder you yaṣuddakum from what ʿammā used kāna (to) worship yaʿbudu your forefathers ābāukum And they say waqālū Not mā (is) this hādhā except illā a lie if'kun invented muf'taran And said waqāla those who alladhīna disbelieved kafarū about the truth lil'ḥaqqi when lammā it came to them jāahum Not in (is) this hādhā except illā a magic siḥ'run obvious mubīnun
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, they say, "This is not but a man who wishes to avert you from that which your fathers were worshipping." And they say, "This is not except a lie invented." And those who disbelieve say of the truth when it has come to them, "This is not but obvious magic."
وَمَآ And not wamā We (had) given them ātaynāhum any min Scriptures kutubin which they could study yadrusūnahā and not wamā We sent arsalnā to them ilayhim before you qablaka any min warner nadhīrin
And We had not given them any scriptures which they could study, and We had not sent to them before you, [O Muḥammad], any warner.
وَكَذَّبَ And denied wakadhaba those who alladhīna (were) before them min (were) before them qablihim and not wamā they have attained balaghū a tenth miʿ'shāra (of) what mā We (had) given them ātaynāhum But they denied fakadhabū My Messengers rusulī so how fakayfa was kāna My rejection nakīri
And those before them denied, and they [i.e., the people of Makkah] have not attained a tenth of what We had given them. But they [i.e., the former peoples] denied My messengers, so how [terrible] was My reproach.
۞ قُلْ Say qul Only innamā I advise you aʿiẓukum for one (thing) biwāḥidatin that an you stand taqūmū for Allah lillahi (in) pairs mathnā and (as) individuals wafurādā then thumma reflect tatafakkarū Not mā (is in) your companion biṣāḥibikum any min madness jinnatin Not in he huwa (is) except illā a warner nadhīrun for you lakum before bayna before yaday a punishment ʿadhābin severe shadīdin
Say, "I only advise you of one [thing] - that you stand for Allāh, [seeking truth] in pairs and individually, and then give thought." There is not in your companion any madness. He is only a warner to you before a severe punishment.
قُلْ Say qul Not mā I ask you sa-altukum for min any payment ajrin but it (is) fahuwa for you lakum Not in (is) my payment ajriya but illā from ʿalā Allah l-lahi And He wahuwa (is) over ʿalā all kulli things shayin a Witness shahīdun
Say, "Whatever payment I might have asked of you - it is yours. My payment is only from Allāh, and He is, over all things, Witness."
قُلْ Say qul Indeed inna my Lord rabbī projects yaqdhifu the truth bil-ḥaqi (the) All-Knower ʿallāmu (of) the unseen l-ghuyūbi
Say, "Indeed, my Lord projects the truth, Knower of the unseen."
