لقمان
تِلْكَ These til'ka (are) Verses āyātu (of) the Book l-kitābi the Wise l-ḥakīmi
These are verses of the wise1 Book,
هُدًۭى A guidance hudan and a mercy waraḥmatan for the good-doers lil'muḥ'sinīna
As guidance and mercy for the doers of good
ٱلَّذِينَ Those who alladhīna establish yuqīmūna the prayer l-ṣalata and give wayu'tūna zakah l-zakata and they wahum in the Hereafter bil-ākhirati [they] hum believe firmly yūqinūna
Who establish prayer and give zakāh, and they, of the Hereafter, are certain [in faith].
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ulāika (are) on ʿalā guidance hudan from min their Lord rabbihim and those wa-ulāika [they] humu (are) the successful l-muf'liḥūna
Those are on [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful.
وَمِنَ And of wamina the mankind l-nāsi (is he) who man purchases yashtarī idle tales lahwa idle tales l-ḥadīthi to mislead liyuḍilla from ʿan (the) path sabīli (of) Allah l-lahi without bighayri knowledge ʿil'min and takes it wayattakhidhahā (in) ridicule huzuwan Those ulāika for them lahum (is) a punishment ʿadhābun humiliating muhīnun
And of the people is he who buys the amusement of speech1 to mislead [others] from the way of Allāh without knowledge and who takes it [i.e., His way] in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment.
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā are recited tut'lā to him ʿalayhi Our Verses āyātunā he turns away wallā arrogantly mus'takbiran as if ka-an not lam he (had) heard them yasmaʿhā as if ka-anna in fī his ears udhunayhi (is) deafness waqran So give him tidings fabashir'hu of a punishment biʿadhābin painful alīmin
And when Our verses are recited to him, he turns away arrogantly as if he had not heard them, as if there was in his ears deafness. So give him tidings of a painful punishment.
إِنَّ Indeed inna those who alladhīna believe āmanū and do waʿamilū righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti for them lahum (are) Gardens jannātu (of) Delight l-naʿīmi
Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them are the Gardens of Pleasure,
خَـٰلِدِينَ (To) abide forever khālidīna in it fīhā (The) Promise of Allah waʿda (The) Promise of Allah l-lahi (is) true ḥaqqan And He wahuwa (is) the All-Mighty l-ʿazīzu the All-Wise l-ḥakīmu
Wherein they abide eternally; [it is] the promise of Allāh [which is] truth. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
خَلَقَ He created khalaqa the heavens l-samāwāti without bighayri pillars ʿamadin that you see tarawnahā and has cast wa-alqā in fī the earth l-arḍi firm mountains rawāsiya lest an it (might) shake tamīda with you bikum and He dispersed wabatha in it fīhā from min every kulli creature dābbatin And We sent down wa-anzalnā from mina the sky l-samāi water māan then We caused to grow fa-anbatnā therein fīhā of min every kulli kind zawjin noble karīmin
He created the heavens without pillars that you see and has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with you, and dispersed therein from every creature. And We sent down rain from the sky and made grow therein [plants] of every noble kind.
هَـٰذَا This hādhā (is the) creation khalqu (of) Allah l-lahi So show Me fa-arūnī what mādhā have created khalaqa those alladhīna besides Him min besides Him dūnihi Nay bali the wrongdoers l-ẓālimūna (are) in fī error ḍalālin clear mubīnin
This is the creation of Allāh. So show Me what those other than Him have created. Rather, the wrongdoers are in clear error.
