فَلَمَّا

Then when

falammā

تَرَٰٓءَا

saw each other

tarāā

ٱلْجَمْعَانِ

the two hosts

l-jamʿāni

قَالَ

said

qāla

أَصْحَـٰبُ

(the) companions

aṣḥābu

مُوسَىٰٓ

(of) Musa

mūsā

إِنَّا

Indeed, we

innā

لَمُدْرَكُونَ

(are) surely to be overtaken

lamud'rakūna

٦١

And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"

— Saheeh International

قَالَ

He said

qāla

كَلَّآ ۖ

Nay

kallā

إِنَّ

indeed

inna

مَعِىَ

with me

maʿiya

رَبِّى

(is) my Lord

rabbī

سَيَهْدِينِ

He will guide me

sayahdīni

٦٢

[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."

— Saheeh International

فَأَوْحَيْنَآ

Then We inspired

fa-awḥaynā

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

مُوسَىٰٓ

Musa

mūsā

أَنِ

[that]

ani

ٱضْرِب

Strike

iḍ'rib

بِّعَصَاكَ

with your staff

biʿaṣāka

ٱلْبَحْرَ ۖ

the sea

l-baḥra

فَٱنفَلَقَ

So it parted

fa-infalaqa

فَكَانَ

and became

fakāna

كُلُّ

each

kullu

فِرْقٍۢ

part

fir'qin

كَٱلطَّوْدِ

like the mountain

kal-ṭawdi

ٱلْعَظِيمِ

[the] great

l-ʿaẓīmi

٦٣

Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.

— Saheeh International

وَأَزْلَفْنَا

And We brought near

wa-azlafnā

ثَمَّ

there

thamma

ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ

the others

l-ākharīna

٦٤

And We advanced thereto the others [i.e., the pursuers].

— Saheeh International

وَأَنجَيْنَا

And We saved

wa-anjaynā

مُوسَىٰ

Musa

mūsā

وَمَن

and who

waman

مَّعَهُۥٓ

(were) with him

maʿahu

أَجْمَعِينَ

all

ajmaʿīna

٦٥

And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.

— Saheeh International

ثُمَّ

Then

thumma

أَغْرَقْنَا

We drowned

aghraqnā

ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ

the others

l-ākharīna

٦٦

Then We drowned the others.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

فِى

in

ذَٰلِكَ

that

dhālika

لَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖ

surely (is) a Sign

laāyatan

وَمَا

but not

wamā

كَانَ

are

kāna

أَكْثَرُهُم

most of them

aktharuhum

مُّؤْمِنِينَ

believers

mu'minīna

٦٧

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

— Saheeh International

وَإِنَّ

And indeed

wa-inna

رَبَّكَ

your Lord

rabbaka

لَهُوَ

surely He

lahuwa

ٱلْعَزِيزُ

(is) the All-Mighty

l-ʿazīzu

ٱلرَّحِيمُ

the Most Merciful

l-raḥīmu

٦٨

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

— Saheeh International

وَٱتْلُ

And recite

wa-ut'lu

عَلَيْهِمْ

to them

ʿalayhim

نَبَأَ

(the) news

naba-a

إِبْرَٰهِيمَ

(of) Ibrahim

ib'rāhīma

٦٩

And recite to them the news of Abraham,

— Saheeh International

إِذْ

When

idh

قَالَ

he said

qāla

لِأَبِيهِ

to his father

li-abīhi

وَقَوْمِهِۦ

and his people

waqawmihi

مَا

What

تَعْبُدُونَ

(do) you worship

taʿbudūna

٧٠

When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"

— Saheeh International

قَالُوا۟

They said

qālū

نَعْبُدُ

We worship

naʿbudu

أَصْنَامًۭا

idols

aṣnāman

فَنَظَلُّ

so we will remain

fanaẓallu

لَهَا

to them

lahā

عَـٰكِفِينَ

devoted

ʿākifīna

٧١

They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."

— Saheeh International

قَالَ

He said

qāla

هَلْ

Do

hal

يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ

they hear you

yasmaʿūnakum

إِذْ

when

idh

تَدْعُونَ

you call

tadʿūna

٧٢

He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate?

— Saheeh International

أَوْ

Or

aw

يَنفَعُونَكُمْ

(do) they benefit you

yanfaʿūnakum

أَوْ

or

aw

يَضُرُّونَ

they harm (you)

yaḍurrūna

٧٣

Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?"

— Saheeh International

قَالُوا۟

They said

qālū

بَلْ

Nay

bal

وَجَدْنَآ

but we found

wajadnā

ءَابَآءَنَا

our forefathers

ābāanā

كَذَٰلِكَ

like that

kadhālika

يَفْعَلُونَ

doing

yafʿalūna

٧٤

They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus."

— Saheeh International

قَالَ

He said

qāla

أَفَرَءَيْتُم

Do you see

afara-aytum

مَّا

what

كُنتُمْ

you have been

kuntum

تَعْبُدُونَ

worshipping

taʿbudūna

٧٥

He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping,

— Saheeh International

أَنتُمْ

You

antum

وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ

and your forefathers

waābāukumu

ٱلْأَقْدَمُونَ

and your forefathers

l-aqdamūna

٧٦

You and your ancient forefathers?

— Saheeh International

فَإِنَّهُمْ

Indeed, they

fa-innahum

عَدُوٌّۭ

(are) enemies

ʿaduwwun

لِّىٓ

to me

إِلَّا

except

illā

رَبَّ

(the) Lord

rabba

ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

(of) the worlds

l-ʿālamīna

٧٧

Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,1

— Saheeh International

ٱلَّذِى

The One Who

alladhī

خَلَقَنِى

created me

khalaqanī

فَهُوَ

and He

fahuwa

يَهْدِينِ

guides me

yahdīni

٧٨

Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me.

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِى

And the One Who

wa-alladhī

هُوَ

[He]

huwa

يُطْعِمُنِى

gives me food

yuṭ'ʿimunī

وَيَسْقِينِ

and gives me drink

wayasqīni

٧٩

And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.

— Saheeh International

وَإِذَا

And when

wa-idhā

مَرِضْتُ

I am ill

mariḍ'tu

فَهُوَ

then He

fahuwa

يَشْفِينِ

cures me

yashfīni

٨٠

And when I am ill, it is He who cures me

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِى

And the One Who

wa-alladhī

يُمِيتُنِى

will cause me to die

yumītunī

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

يُحْيِينِ

he will give me life

yuḥ'yīni

٨١

And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِىٓ

And the One Who

wa-alladhī

أَطْمَعُ

I hope

aṭmaʿu

أَن

that

an

يَغْفِرَ

He will forgive

yaghfira

لِى

for me

خَطِيٓـَٔتِى

my faults

khaṭīatī

يَوْمَ

(on the) Day

yawma

ٱلدِّينِ

(of) the Judgment

l-dīni

٨٢

And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."

— Saheeh International

رَبِّ

My Lord

rabbi

هَبْ

Grant

hab

لِى

[for] me

حُكْمًۭا

wisdom

ḥuk'man

وَأَلْحِقْنِى

and join me

wa-alḥiq'nī

بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ

with the righteous

bil-ṣāliḥīna

٨٣

[And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.

— Saheeh International
