لَعَلَّكَ Perhaps you laʿallaka (would) kill bākhiʿun yourself nafsaka that not allā they become yakūnū believers mu'minīna
Perhaps, [O Muḥammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.
إِن If in We will nasha We can send down nunazzil to them ʿalayhim from mina the sky l-samāi a Sign āyatan so would bend faẓallat their necks aʿnāquhum to it lahā (in) humility khāḍiʿīna
If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled.1
وَمَا And (does) not wamā come to them yatīhim any min reminder dhik'rin from mina the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni new muḥ'dathin but illā they kānū from it ʿanhu turn away muʿ'riḍīna
And no mention [i.e., revelation] comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it.
فَقَدْ So verily faqad they have denied kadhabū then will come to them fasayatīhim the news anbāu (of) what mā they used kānū at it bihi (to) mock yastahziūna

Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
وَإِنَّ And indeed wa-inna your Lord rabbaka surely, He lahuwa (is) the All-Mighty l-ʿazīzu the Most Merciful l-raḥīmu
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
وَإِذْ And when wa-idh your Lord called nādā your Lord called rabbuka Musa mūsā [that] ani Go i'ti (to) the people l-qawma (who are) wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna
And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -
قَوْمَ (The) people qawma (of) Firaun fir'ʿawna Will not alā they fear yattaqūna
The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allāh?"
قَالَ He said qāla My Lord rabbi Indeed, I innī [I] fear akhāfu that an they will deny me yukadhibūni
He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
وَيَضِيقُ And straitens wayaḍīqu my breast ṣadrī and not walā expresses well yanṭaliqu my tongue lisānī so send fa-arsil for ilā Harun hārūna
And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.
وَلَهُمْ And they have walahum against me ʿalayya a crime dhanbun so I fear fa-akhāfu that an they will kill me yaqtulūni
And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."
قَالَ He said qāla Nay kallā go both of you fa-idh'habā with Our Signs biāyātinā Indeed, We innā (are) with you maʿakum listening mus'tamiʿūna
[Allāh] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.
فَأْتِيَا So go both of you fatiyā (to) Firaun fir'ʿawna and say faqūlā 'Indeed, we innā (are the) Messenger rasūlu (of the) Lord rabbi (of) the worlds l-ʿālamīna
Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers1 of the Lord of the worlds,
أَنْ [That] an send arsil with us maʿanā (the) Children of Israel.' banī (the) Children of Israel.' is'rāīla
[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"
قَالَ He said qāla Did not alam we bring you up nurabbika among us fīnā (as) a child walīdan and you remained walabith'ta among us fīnā of min your life ʿumurika years sinīna
[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?
وَفَعَلْتَ And you did wafaʿalta your deed faʿlataka which allatī you did faʿalta and you wa-anta (were) of mina the ungrateful l-kāfirīna
And [then] you did your deed which you did,1 and you were of the ungrateful."
