وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus wakadhālika We try fatannā some of them baʿḍahum with others bibaʿḍin that they say liyaqūlū Are these ahāulāi (whom has been) favored manna (by) Allah l-lahu [upon them] ʿalayhim from min among us bayninā is not alaysa Allah l-lahu most knowing bi-aʿlama of those who are grateful bil-shākirīna
And thus We have tried some of them through others that they [i.e., the disbelievers] might say, "Is it these whom Allāh has favored among us?" Is not Allāh most knowing of those who are grateful?1
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā come to you jāaka those who alladhīna believe yu'minūna in Our Verses biāyātinā then say faqul Peace salāmun (be) upon you ʿalaykum (Has) Prescribed kataba your Lord rabbukum upon ʿalā Himself nafsihi the Mercy l-raḥmata that he annahu who man does ʿamila among you minkum evil sūan in ignorance bijahālatin then thumma repents tāba from min after it baʿdihi and reforms wa-aṣlaḥa then, indeed He fa-annahu (is) Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun Most Merciful raḥīmun
And when those come to you who believe in Our verses, say, "Peace be upon you. Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy: that any of you who does wrong out of ignorance and then repents after that and corrects himself - indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful."
وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus wakadhālika We explain nufaṣṣilu the Verses l-āyāti so that becomes manifest walitastabīna (the) way sabīlu (of) the criminals l-muj'rimīna
And thus do We detail the verses, and [thus] the way of the criminals will become evident.
قُلْ Say qul Indeed I innī [I] am forbidden nuhītu that an I worship aʿbuda those whom alladhīna you call tadʿūna from min besides dūni Allah l-lahi Say qul Not lā I follow attabiʿu your (vain) desires ahwāakum certainly qad I would go astray ḍalaltu then idhan and not wamā I (would be) anā from mina the guided-ones l-muh'tadīna
Say, "Indeed, I have been forbidden to worship those you invoke besides Allāh." Say, "I will not follow your desires, for I would then have gone astray, and I would not be of the [rightly] guided."
قُلْ Say qul Indeed, I (am) innī on ʿalā clear proof bayyinatin from min my Lord rabbī while you deny wakadhabtum [with] it bihi Not mā I have ʿindī what mā you seek to hasten tastaʿjilūna of it bihi Not ini (is) the decision l-ḥuk'mu except illā for Allah lillahi He relates yaquṣṣu the truth l-ḥaqa and He wahuwa (is the) best khayru (of) the Deciders l-fāṣilīna
Say, "Indeed, I am on clear evidence from my Lord, and you have denied it. I do not have that for which you are impatient.1 The decision is only for Allāh. He relates the truth, and He is the best of deciders."
قُل Say qul If law that anna (were) with me ʿindī what mā you seek to hasten tastaʿjilūna of it bihi surely would have been decided laquḍiya the matter l-amru between me baynī and between you wabaynakum And Allah wal-lahu (is) most knowing aʿlamu of the wrongdoers bil-ẓālimīna
Say, "If I had that for which you are impatient, the matter would have been decided between me and you, but Allāh is most knowing of the wrongdoers."
۞ وَعِندَهُۥ And with Him waʿindahu (are the) keys mafātiḥu (of) the unseen l-ghaybi no (one) lā knows them yaʿlamuhā except illā Him huwa And He knows wayaʿlamu what mā (is) in fī the land l-bari and in the sea wal-baḥri And not wamā falls tasquṭu of min any leaf waraqatin but illā He knows it yaʿlamuhā And not walā a grain ḥabbatin in fī the darkness[es] ẓulumāti (of) the earth l-arḍi and not walā moist raṭbin and not walā dry yābisin but illā (is) in fī a Record kitābin Clear mubīnin
And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record.
