أُحِلَّ Is made lawful uḥilla for you lakum game ṣaydu (of) the sea l-baḥri and its food waṭaʿāmuhu (as) provision matāʿan for you lakum and for the travelers walilssayyārati and is made unlawful waḥurrima on you ʿalaykum game ṣaydu (of) the land l-bari as mā long as you dum'tum (are in) Ihram ḥuruman And be conscious wa-ittaqū (of) Allah l-laha the One alladhī to Him ilayhi you will be gathered tuḥ'sharūna
Lawful to you is game from the sea and its food as provision for you and the travelers,1 but forbidden to you is game from the land as long as you are in the state of iḥrām. And fear Allāh to whom you will be gathered.
۞ جَعَلَ Has (been) made jaʿala (by) Allah l-lahu the Kabah l-kaʿbata the House l-bayta the Sacred l-ḥarāma an establishment qiyāman for mankind lilnnāsi and the month(s) wal-shahra [the] sacred l-ḥarāma and the (animals) for offering wal-hadya and the garlands wal-qalāida That (is) dhālika so that you may know litaʿlamū that anna Allah l-laha knows yaʿlamu what mā (is) in fī the heavens l-samāwāti and what wamā (is) in fī the earth l-arḍi and that wa-anna Allah l-laha of every bikulli thing shayin (is) All-Knowing ʿalīmun
Allāh has made the Kaʿbah, the Sacred House, standing1 for the people and [has sanctified] the sacred months and the sacrificial animals and the garlands [by which they are identified]. That is so you may know that Allāh knows what is in the heavens and what is in the earth and that Allāh is Knowing of all things.
ٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ Know iʿ'lamū that anna Allah l-laha (is) severe shadīdu (in) punishment l-ʿiqābi and that wa-anna Allah l-laha (is) Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun Most Merciful raḥīmun
Know that Allāh is severe in penalty and that Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
مَّا Not mā on ʿalā the Messenger l-rasūli except illā the conveyance l-balāghu And Allah wal-lahu knows yaʿlamu what mā you reveal tub'dūna and what wamā you conceal taktumūna
Not upon the Messenger is [responsibility] except [for] notification. And Allāh knows whatever you reveal and whatever you conceal.
قُل Say qul Not lā (are) equal yastawī the evil l-khabīthu and the good wal-ṭayibu even if walaw impresses you aʿjabaka abundance kathratu (of) the evil l-khabīthi So fear fa-ittaqū Allah l-laha O men yāulī (of) understanding l-albābi so that you may laʿallakum (be) successful tuf'liḥūna
Say, "Not equal are the evil and the good, although the abundance of evil might impress you." So fear Allāh, O you of understanding, that you may be successful.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you yāayyuhā who alladhīna believe āmanū (Do) not lā ask tasalū about ʿan things ashyāa if in made clear tub'da to you lakum it may distress you tasu'kum and if wa-in you ask tasalū about it ʿanhā when ḥīna is being revealed yunazzalu the Quran l-qur'ānu it would be made clear tub'da to you lakum has (been) pardoned ʿafā (by) Allah l-lahu [about] it ʿanhā and Allah wal-lahu (is) Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun All-Forbearing ḥalīmun
O you who have believed, do not ask about things which, if they are shown to you, will distress you. But if you ask about them while the Qur’ān is being revealed, they will be shown to you. Allāh has pardoned it [i.e., that which is past]; and Allāh is Forgiving and Forbearing.
قَدْ Indeed qad asked them sa-alahā a people qawmun from min before you qablikum then thumma they became aṣbaḥū thereby bihā disbelievers kāfirīna
A people asked such [questions] before you; then they became thereby disbelievers.1
مَا Not mā has (been) made jaʿala (by) Allah l-lahu of min a Bahirah baḥīratin and not walā a Saibah sāibatin and not walā a Wasilah waṣīlatin and not walā a Hami ḥāmin [And] but walākinna those who alladhīna disbelieved kafarū they invent yaftarūna against ʿalā Allah l-lahi the lie l-kadhiba and most of them wa-aktharuhum (do) not lā use reason yaʿqilūna
Allāh has not appointed [such innovations as] baḥīrah or sā’ibah or waṣīlah or ḥām.1 But those who disbelieve invent falsehood about Allāh, and most of them do not reason.
