وَمِنَ

And of

wamina

ٱلَّيْلِ

the night

al-layli

فَٱسْجُدْ

prostrate

fa-us'jud

لَهُۥ

to Him

lahu

وَسَبِّحْهُ

and glorify Him

wasabbiḥ'hu

لَيْلًۭا

a night

laylan

طَوِيلًا

long

ṭawīlan

٢٦

And during the night prostrate to Him and exalt [i.e., praise] Him a long [part of the] night.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ

these

hāulāi

يُحِبُّونَ

love

yuḥibbūna

ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ

the immediate

l-ʿājilata

وَيَذَرُونَ

and leave

wayadharūna

وَرَآءَهُمْ

behind them

warāahum

يَوْمًۭا

a Day

yawman

ثَقِيلًۭا

grave

thaqīlan

٢٧

Indeed, these [disbelievers] love the immediate and leave behind them1 a grave Day.

— Saheeh International

نَّحْنُ

We

naḥnu

خَلَقْنَـٰهُمْ

created them

khalaqnāhum

وَشَدَدْنَآ

and We strengthened

washadadnā

أَسْرَهُمْ ۖ

their forms

asrahum

وَإِذَا

and when

wa-idhā

شِئْنَا

We will

shi'nā

بَدَّلْنَآ

We can change

baddalnā

أَمْثَـٰلَهُمْ

their likeness[es]

amthālahum

تَبْدِيلًا

(with) a change

tabdīlan

٢٨

We have created them and strengthened their forms, and when We will, We can change their likenesses with [complete] alteration.

— Saheeh International

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

هَـٰذِهِۦ

this

hādhihi

تَذْكِرَةٌۭ ۖ

(is) a reminder

tadhkiratun

فَمَن

so whoever

faman

شَآءَ

wills

shāa

ٱتَّخَذَ

let him take

ittakhadha

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

رَبِّهِۦ

his Lord

rabbihi

سَبِيلًۭا

a way

sabīlan

٢٩

Indeed, this is a reminder, so he who wills may take to his Lord a way.

— Saheeh International

وَمَا

And not

wamā

تَشَآءُونَ

you will

tashāūna

إِلَّآ

except

illā

أَن

that

an

يَشَآءَ

wills

yashāa

ٱللَّهُ ۚ

Allah

l-lahu

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

كَانَ

is

kāna

عَلِيمًا

All-Knower

ʿalīman

حَكِيمًۭا

All-Wise

ḥakīman

٣٠

And you do not will except that Allāh wills. Indeed, Allāh is ever Knowing and Wise.

— Saheeh International

يُدْخِلُ

He admits

yud'khilu

مَن

whom

man

يَشَآءُ

He wills

yashāu

فِى

into

رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ

His mercy

raḥmatihi

وَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

but (for) the wrongdoers

wal-ẓālimīna

أَعَدَّ

He has prepared

aʿadda

لَهُمْ

for them

lahum

عَذَابًا

a punishment

ʿadhāban

أَلِيمًۢا

painful

alīman

٣١

He admits whom He wills into His mercy; but the wrongdoers - He has prepared for them a painful punishment.

— Saheeh International

Al-Mursalāt

The Emissaries

المرسلات

وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ

By the ones sent forth

wal-mur'salāti

عُرْفًۭا

one after another

ʿur'fan

١

By those [winds] sent forth in gusts

— Saheeh International

فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ

And the winds that blow

fal-ʿāṣifāti

عَصْفًۭا

violently

ʿaṣfan

٢

And the winds that blow violently

— Saheeh International

وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ

And the ones that scatter

wal-nāshirāti

نَشْرًۭا

far and wide

nashran

٣

And [by] the winds that spread [clouds]

— Saheeh International

فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ

And those who separate

fal-fāriqāti

فَرْقًۭا

(by the) Criterion

farqan

٤

And those [angels] who bring criterion1

— Saheeh International

فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ

And those who bring down

fal-mul'qiyāti

ذِكْرًا

(the) Reminder

dhik'ran

٥

And those [angels] who deliver a message.

— Saheeh International

عُذْرًا

(As) justification

ʿudh'ran

أَوْ

or

aw

نُذْرًا

warning

nudh'ran

٦

As justification or warning,

— Saheeh International

إِنَّمَا

Indeed, what

innamā

تُوعَدُونَ

you are promised

tūʿadūna

لَوَٰقِعٌۭ

will surely occur

lawāqiʿun

٧

Indeed, what you are promised is to occur.

— Saheeh International

فَإِذَا

So when

fa-idhā

ٱلنُّجُومُ

the stars

l-nujūmu

طُمِسَتْ

are obliterated

ṭumisat

٨

So when the stars are obliterated

— Saheeh International

وَإِذَا

And when

wa-idhā

ٱلسَّمَآءُ

the heaven

l-samāu

فُرِجَتْ

is cleft asunder

furijat

٩

And when the heaven is opened

— Saheeh International

وَإِذَا

And when

wa-idhā

ٱلْجِبَالُ

the mountains

l-jibālu

نُسِفَتْ

are blown away

nusifat

١٠

And when the mountains are blown away

— Saheeh International

وَإِذَا

And when

wa-idhā

ٱلرُّسُلُ

the Messengers

l-rusulu

أُقِّتَتْ

are gathered to their appointed time

uqqitat

١١

And when the messengers' time has come...1

— Saheeh International

لِأَىِّ

For what

li-ayyi

يَوْمٍ

Day

yawmin

أُجِّلَتْ

are (these) postponed

ujjilat

١٢

For what Day was it postponed?1

— Saheeh International

لِيَوْمِ

For (the) Day

liyawmi

ٱلْفَصْلِ

(of) Judgment

l-faṣli

١٣

For the Day of Judgement.

— Saheeh International

وَمَآ

And what

wamā

أَدْرَىٰكَ

will make you know

adrāka

مَا

what

يَوْمُ

(is the) Day

yawmu

ٱلْفَصْلِ

(of) the Judgment

l-faṣli

١٤

And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement?

— Saheeh International

وَيْلٌۭ

Woe

waylun

يَوْمَئِذٍۢ

that Day

yawma-idhin

لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

to the deniers

lil'mukadhibīna

١٥

Woe,1 that Day, to the deniers.

— Saheeh International

أَلَمْ

Did not

alam

نُهْلِكِ

We destroy

nuh'liki

ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

the former (people)

l-awalīna

١٦

Did We not destroy the former peoples?

— Saheeh International

ثُمَّ

Then

thumma

نُتْبِعُهُمُ

We follow them up

nut'biʿuhumu

ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ

(with) the later ones

l-ākhirīna

١٧

Then We will follow them with the later ones.

— Saheeh International

كَذَٰلِكَ

Thus

kadhālika

نَفْعَلُ

We deal

nafʿalu

بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ

with the criminals

bil-muj'rimīna

١٨

Thus do We deal with the criminals.

— Saheeh International

وَيْلٌۭ

Woe

waylun

يَوْمَئِذٍۢ

that Day

yawma-idhin

لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

to the deniers

lil'mukadhibīna

١٩

Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

— Saheeh International
