قَدْ Indeed qad Allah has heard samiʿa Allah has heard l-lahu (the) speech qawla (of one) who allatī disputes with you tujādiluka concerning fī her husband zawjihā and she directs her complaint watashtakī to ilā Allah l-lahi And Allah wal-lahu hears yasmaʿu (the) dialogue of both of you taḥāwurakumā Indeed inna Allah l-laha (is) All-Hearer samīʿun All-Seer baṣīrun
Certainly has Allāh heard the speech of the one who argues [i.e., pleads] with you, [O Muḥammad], concerning her husband and directs her complaint to Allāh. And Allāh hears your dialogue; indeed, Allāh is Hearing and Seeing.
ٱلَّذِينَ Those who alladhīna pronounce zihar yuẓāhirūna among you minkum [from] min (to) their wives nisāihim not mā they hunna (are) their mothers ummahātihim Not in (are) their mothers ummahātuhum except illā those who allāī gave them birth waladnahum And indeed, they wa-innahum surely say layaqūlūna an evil munkaran [of] mina [the] word l-qawli and a lie wazūran But indeed wa-inna Allah l-laha (is) surely, Oft-Pardoning laʿafuwwun Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun
Those who pronounce ẓihār1 among you [to separate] from their wives - they are not [consequently] their mothers. Their mothers are none but those who gave birth to them. And indeed, they are saying an objectionable statement and a falsehood. But indeed, Allāh is Pardoning and Forgiving.
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna pronounce zihar yuẓāhirūna [from] min (to) their wives nisāihim then thumma go back yaʿūdūna on what limā they said qālū then freeing fataḥrīru (of) a slave raqabatin before min before qabli [that] an they touch each other yatamāssā That dhālikum you are admonished tūʿaẓūna to it bihi And Allah wal-lahu of what bimā you do taʿmalūna (is) All-Aware khabīrun
And those who pronounce ẓihār from their wives and then [wish to] go back on what they said - then [there must be] the freeing of a slave before they touch one another. That is what you are admonished thereby; and Allāh is Aware of what you do.
فَمَن Then whoever faman (does) not lam find yajid then fasting faṣiyāmu (for) two months shahrayni consecutively mutatābiʿayni before min before qabli [that] an they both touch each other yatamāssā But (he) who faman not lam is able yastaṭiʿ then (the) feeding fa-iṭ'ʿāmu (of) sixty sittīna needy one(s) mis'kīnan That dhālika so that you may believe litu'minū in Allah bil-lahi and His Messenger warasūlihi and these watil'ka (are the) limits ḥudūdu (of) Allah l-lahi and for the disbelievers walil'kāfirīna (is) a punishment ʿadhābun painful alīmun
And he who does not find [a slave] - then a fast for two months consecutively1 before they touch one another; and he who is unable - then the feeding of sixty poor persons. That is for you to believe [completely] in Allāh and His Messenger; and those are the limits [set by] Allāh. And for the disbelievers is a painful punishment.
إِنَّ Indeed inna those who alladhīna oppose yuḥāddūna Allah l-laha and His Messenger warasūlahu (will) be disgraced kubitū as kamā were disgraced kubita those alladhīna before them min before them qablihim And certainly waqad We have sent down anzalnā Verses āyātin clear bayyinātin And for the disbelievers walil'kāfirīna (is) a punishment ʿadhābun humiliating muhīnun
Indeed, those who oppose Allāh and His Messenger are abased as those before them were abased. And We have certainly sent down verses of clear evidence. And for the disbelievers is a humiliating punishment
يَوْمَ (On the) Day yawma (when) Allah will raise them yabʿathuhumu (when) Allah will raise them l-lahu all jamīʿan and inform them fayunabbi-uhum of what bimā they did ʿamilū Allah has recorded it aḥṣāhu Allah has recorded it l-lahu while they forgot it wanasūhu And Allah wal-lahu (is) over ʿalā all kulli things shayin a Witness shahīdun
On the Day when Allāh will resurrect them all and inform them of what they did. Allāh had enumerated it, while they forgot it; and Allāh is, over all things, Witness.1
